Good morning. This is the second day in a row for some sunshine :sunny: but we are back to rain and even a threat of **** for next week. I really need to hop to it and get my garden tucked in for the winter even if it does rain. I do not want to face slimy hosta leaves in the spring!
The sale yesterday went really well and we will have a good stash of cash to buy quilting supplies. There were lots of leftovers on the baking table but not my stuff. I always feel badly for folks whose baking just sits there. At the end of the sale I bought some fancy cookies which I will vacuum seal today and put away for Christmas entertaining. Today I am cooking a turkey dinner for four women and six kids - a late Thanksgiving dinner for those of us without birth families. It should be fun although noisy. I won't have a problem with the food although turkey dressing is hard to resist. Laughter offsets calories, right? The turkey is thawed and I'll do the dressing after Church - real dressing, not Uncle Ben's. I'm tempted to serve cauliflower mashed potatoes but will resist and just skip the real ones myself. Off to Church at 8:30 and then crank up the day. How does your Sunday look from this early perspective? :cofdate: |
Oh my! I heard Jake get up, and I thought I'd wait til he was finished in the bathroom before I got up, and I promptly fell back to sleep until 7!!!!!! :yikes: I never sleep that late, but it sure felt good.
I'm off to New Jersey this morning. I'll meet up with my DD's family for church, and afterwards Monica and I are going to a fancy tea at the country club. :) It's also a fundraiser event, and I really don't know what to expect. But I'm sure it will be fun. |
Happy Sunday!
Messy, Where are you? I love we have Chickies from all over the world here. Debbie, Are you making good tips at the diner? Ruth, The fall festival at Auston's school was last night. He did the 'cake walk'. Thankfully, he didn't win. I was surprised at the number of store-bought cakes. How tacky! My MIL made her famous lemon pound cake. I hope someone is enjoying a thick slice for breakfast today. :) Linda, It is nice to sleep in occasionally. You should see Auston's eye! He has nasty pink-eye. Thankfully, I am friends with the local pharmacist. She gave me drops, as his doctor is closed on Saturday. My eyes are watery this morning. If he gives me pink-eye... I guess I'll have a day off work next week. The family went to the flea market, but I stayed home today. My house looks like I spent last weekend at the beach and this week getting ready for yesterday's fundraiser. Ouch! I better get crackin'! |
Good morning :coffee2: I slept in until the cats decided they waited long enough. I think I could sleep for several days and still not be caught up, but t was sure nice to get 9 hours.
Debbie - Enjoy your shift. Hope the breakfast crowd is generous. Ruth - Your dinner sounds like fun :) Cottage - You and Monica do find interesting things to do. Enjoy your day. I'm planning a typical fall day. I'm heading up to the orchard for apples for making applesauce. I've always been a fan of mixing varieties and the orchard is the best place for that. DW is gong to come and take pictures of birds and bugs while I pick. This is a great little hidden orchard so there's always plenty of room to roam. I've also got baking to do for our Co-op project. I'm on a committee that's redoing the cookbook. Turns out the original was created with recipes members submitted but no one tested  I picked up 2 recipes and all the ingredients, will make them and then bring in to be used at a food demo. Testers are asked to give feedback on the recipe. It's a fun way to get lots of member hours which gets me an 8% discount! We can keep half the recipe for home if we want to, though I'm sure we won't. Today's recipes are a walnut bread (yeast not quick) and a vegan cornbread. The house will smell great. First I want to find a recipe with black beans, sweet potato and peppers, but not a soup (we already have a fridge full of leftover soups). Off to google :) ETA - good morning Chel |
Good Morning Ladies, Turkey Dinner sounds so good, and I will even skip the dressing, can I come over too!
Yeterday we went to town, wonderful weather in the 60's that is what fall should be like, actually I would like that straight through to Spring, I do not like winter, it lasts so long. I picked up some Savanah Bars yesterday, and nope they are not SB friendly, they have brown sugar in them but the rest are all natural ingredients, very grainy and fruity. I ate a half of one and put the rest in the freezer. I am in control. Ruth it sounds like your bake sale was a sucess. That has to make you feel good. Hope everyone has a great day. Here is wishing for sunshine. Chickadeee |
good morning
Ruth - no sunshine here yesterday, awful day but it sunny today but still cold. messycrayola - hope you get the motivation to finish your project, then no more worries. Debbie - hope the $$ come today, enjoy yourself Cottage - remember to raise your pinky at the fancy tea. Will there be cucumber sandwiches. Chelby - my kids have had pinkeye so many times. Hope Austin is good about getting his drops. Cyndi - happy apple picking. I picked golden and idareds this year and am very happy with both. Chickadee - nice temperature you are having. Fall is such a nice time. Dread winter. I just made a huge babydutch pancake for my family. I had a slice of homemade ww bread with was equally as good. Hope to do some garden cleaning up today and my son will finish painting our garage door. DH booked a hotel thru Hotwire and we got a very nice hotel to stay at next weekend in Montreal, he says its my duty to find a nice restaurant to eat at. I will have to see what our friends want to do after mass on Sunday. take care Sophie |

And jenn was that "pizza" any good? I looked at the recipe thread and the pictures looked great! Does it taste like cauliflower? |
I overslept this morning til 9 a.m. finished cleaning house and laundry today and played tennis with DD2.
