How do you eat chia seeds?
 
I've been curious about them for a while and I see they are on sale at my local fresh grocer this week so I'm going to pick some up. How do you eat them? :?:

I recently started making pudding with it using hemp milk and I love it. You can make it sweet with a little splenda if you wish but I sometimes just add carob and fruit (on phase 2) or have it plain (on phase 1). And you just reminded me I need to go make some for tomorrow morning. Enjoy, it's really good (and good for you)!

That chia chat thread was great!

What kind of ratio would I use to make chia pudding? Liquid to chia seeds? I don't think I can hack putting it in my drinks because I found that Orbitz drink pretty gross. ;)

2 tbsp. chia to 1/2 cup milk. Stir and refrigerate. I usually have a cup of milk/4 tbsp. chia per serving for breakfast.

I recently discovered ground chia. I've been adding 2 T to my egg in the morning along with a little baking soda for more of a pancake texture. I can't believe how filling it is! 1 egg with the chia, some veggies, salsa and 1 slice of rf cheese and I don't even think of food until lunch. I've always needed a snack around 10 but not now. I still have the whole chia for pudding.

Wow! Now I want to try Chia. Native Americans used to use it during their travels, and I always wanted to try it for that reason. Now I have another one! I saw that one oz of chia has 157 calories (dried chia), but is 1 on "estimated glycemic load". SBD usually takes glycemic index into consideration right? They have a little less calories than almonds and a little less protein, though they have about four times as much fiber. That sounds like a good option for those who have trouble with their "regularity" on SB. No wonder they are so filling.

Edit: I love pudding, and even made a crude "cream of wheat" out of psyllium husks (for desire of my childhood comfort food, not for creative ways to take metamucil). I also cherish native american foods, like tapioca. It sounds like chia is perfect for this! Thanks for sharing the pudding recipe! I am really looking forward to trying it.
