Uh oh... What do you do if you slip up?

I'm on day 9 of phase 1 and until today it's gone perfectly (other than having the SBD 'flu'). I've had no cravings, gotten all of my veggies, found something other than eggs for breakfast... all in all, it's been good.

And then today my boss brought in fudge. I resisted for an hour but it sat there and stared at me begging me to eat it. So I did. It was cut into very small squares, but I had three of them.

I'm not beating myself up about it, and I'm not going to let this derail the rest of my day, but I am wondering, what do I do now? Do I restart phase 1? Do I extend it by a few days? Do I continue as planned onto phase 2 in 5 days?

Has anyone else been there? How did you handle the situation?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Unless you're experiencing cravings, just get back on the wagon :) Slip ups happen from time to time, just as long as you don't let that one little slip up snowball until you're all the way at the bottom of the hill...you know, the pieces of fudge turn into a pack of cookies, a pack of cookies turn into a whole sheet cake...and so on...you'll be okay.

If you're experiencing cravings, I'd go back to Phase I for a few days (at least 3) until the cravings are gone.

Hang in there and good luck

just jump right back on the wagon. nobody is perfect and this is a lifestyle that is meant to be lived for the long term, which means that life is going to get in the way. the most important thing is that you don't let a small slip-up turn into a week or more of binging.

Yup, just get back on the wagon. It shouldn't really affect you too badly.

I have a cheat meal every week and get right back on. I may do phase 1 for a day to deplete gylcogen stores but then...back on it!!! Life is life and fudge is good!!! ;)

Wow - thanks for posting this. I had the SAME kind of day. I am in Phase 1.5 (still too afraid to fully embrace Phase 2) and have hit a plateau. So I let loose tonight, a bit too loose. I am going to get back on track tomorrow. I am enjoying this way of eating and hope to break through my plateau soon.

Good luck!
Steph

My husband and I have been doing so well this week and last night we had a cheat dinner. Everything was diet friendly except the tortilla shells for the chicken fajitas and a couple croutons in a salad at our favorite resturant. I have been beating myself up this morning about it but it is nice to see everyones encouraging comments. We are back on the wagon this morning and even more determined to make this work!

Like others have said, don't let one slip derail you. Just get right back with the program and keep looking forward. Patience is the word for this program. There is no magic button to push to become healthy and thin, it just takes a lot of hard work and time.
