2 pounds the first 3 days and another pound 2 days later.
I felt really lousy though, and wasn't especially interested in eating. I ate small meals but didn't bother with snacks, mostly just drank a lot of hot tea. That's why I didn't consider it 'real loss' until now. I've been feeling good and eating well for several days now and the scale didn't go back up.

Heidi, interesting that you lost the 3 lbs just when you stopped using the artificial sweeteners? Wonder if there is any connection? Anyone else willing to take the plung and give them up to test the theory? As much as you said you used them, I'm amazed that you could quit cold turkey. Good for you :cheer:.

I have been thinking about this for a long time and had already cut way back on the diet soda and weaned myself off Splenda in my hot tea.

I didn't realize how much I was actually using until I decided to cut it all out of my diet. It was in my SF fudgicles, pudding and jello of course, but also my yogurt, my favorite marinade, my hot cocoa mix, the chewing gum and hard candies I keep around for 'emergencies', the syrups I used to make my 'milky beverages' every evening, and even my salad dressing. I'm having to rethink a lot more meals and snacks than I expected to. It's worth it though. I will probably still use artificial sweeteners occasionally once the challenge is up, but I don't plan to ever let them become such a big part of my diet again.

I am here just too busy to really post anything. DD2 finally broke last night.

Have a good day everyone

Yesterday I got a save the date note for a wedding. It's at the end of July. I'm taking it as a sign that I really need to do something. I'd like to wear a dress to the wedding, but I'm not going to do that at 250+.

I need to get up and moving. DS2's home visiter should be here in an hour. I need to school DS1. Most of all, I need to get up and eat and plan my meals.

Hi all!

Had a stupidly busy day today, with school and then uni. On top of that I've nearly lost my voice from telling the children to be quiet. Unfortunately it is not my class so haven't had time to introduce the non-verbal classroom skills I need to save my voice! Grr.

Meal wise I've had a good day, on track and no artificial sweeteners (except stevia but I don't count that). My jeans feel much looser, although the scale says i've put on weight! Ignore!

Starleigh - good luck for the wedding slim down :-)

Heidi - You've provided me with the motivation I need to cut the sweeteners out for good!

Matilda - After reading kefir so many times on your meal lists, I bought some today. I'll have it tomorrow for breakie :-)

hello all!

Like most of you I have a very busy day/week ahead! I hate feeling so overwhelmed that I just want to scream! I am trying to drop the Psychology stats class that I am in, but haven't heard back from my counselor, so I am getting nervous that I won't be able to drop it...yikes! With school, kids, home, PTA, and a full time job I think it would be best for me to take it after the kids are out for summer break....we shall see.

I wanted to say WAY TO GO to those of you cutting out artificial sweetners. I, however am not to that point yet.....need coffee and can't handle it without some sweetness! Planing on staying on plan today...I have yet to cheat once in the 2.5 weeks I have been on SBD so I should be okAY...except I forgot to lay something out for dinner...uh oh! LOL

Have a great hump day everyone! :carrot:

Darn mindless eating. Did it again. This time I ate a handfull of candy while doing school with DS. I'm going to continue on with my day like it didn't happen and try to be more mindful. I'll still count this as my start date as long as I don't slip up again.

BAD day for my diet. Did fast food for dinner... Naughty naughty naughty. At least I scrapped the bun and mayo??? Still... I am about to go pay penance to the treadmill (and bike and weight machines). I will at least burn off the calories I ate at dinner... Hopefully a little extra. I feel gross and READY to get back OP!!! I'm having cravings as well... Looks like I did it this time. More detox to come!!! x(

Good afternoon, ladies. It was a quiet night at work until about 2 1/2 hours ago when we had a fatality accident. :( So if you're having a bad day, just think about the parents of this accident victim who are being told tonight that they no longer have a son or daughter to hug and kiss...if that don't snap you out of it, nothing will!!!

Heidi - Ugh...I keep forgetting about losing an hour this weekend. I always get screwed...I'm always working when we GAIN an hour and off when we LOSE one, LOL Oh well. Congratulations on the 3 pound loss...that's awesome!!! I know that I use way too much Splenda...maybe I should cut down. What are you using instead???

kmac - Good luck finding a new church!!!

Ruth - I have never heard of pancakes and sausage w/ baked beans. Is that a regional thing or just a Ruth thing??? LOL The Cherry Blossom Festival will be starting here in a few weeks and they have their annual Pink Pancake Breakfast that the fire department puts on. $5 for all you can eat pink pancakes and sausage. All the proceeds go to Cancer research. My roommate has never been here for Cherry Blossom before, so I promised I would take her. I'm going to try to be conservative, though...and I will at least take some sugar free syrup w/ me. Hope you had a good "me" day!!! ;)

Cyndi - I'm getting my hair "did" tomorrow. I've got a specific hairdresser that I've gone to for over 20 years, though...and there's no hope of getting a walk-in appointment w/ her, LOL I don't know what I'd do if I had your schedule where I couldn't go to her. :(

Cottage - Hope your brain is functioning better now, LOL

Kara - Eek, sounds like you've got a crazy schedule, too!!!

WaistingTime -

Sharona - I don't know about staying motivated, but I know these rainy days like this make me just want to sleep all day. My alarm went off at 1400 hrs and it was so dark and rainy that I just shut it off and slept until 1600 hrs instead.

tanner'smom - I'm behind on everybody's posts, so I'm not sure about all that's going on w/ your uncle, but I hope that he wakes up soon.

Lexxiss - Glad you got some good sleep. Stay safe out there traveling!!!

weezle - Oooh, giving up dark chocolate for Lent, huh??? That's brave!!! LOL Good luck...you can do it!!!

TallandThin - I am totally w/ you on the fireplace vs. central heat issue. I hate hate HATE that my current house has gas heat...ugh, it dries my sinuses out SO bad!!! Thank you for your volunteer work. :) And congratulations on reaching your mini-goal soon...yay!!!

Pearlrose - DD2 broke??? I must be really out of the loop...what does that mean???

starleigh - Good luck slimming down for the wedding. I don't know what your current weight is or how far you have to go, but if you put your mind to it I'm sure you can make a lot of progress by then. ;) Maybe you should get some sugar free candy for the house. That way if you DO slip up w/ the "mindless eating" and grab a handful, at least it's something that's approved. ;) Crystal Light has some really good hard candies.

Claire - I giggled at your "Ignore!" Too funny. ;)

candle lady - I am the same as you as far as coffee goes. I love it, but I have to have lots of Splenda and creamer in it, LOL

Manda - Just get back on that horse again and forget about the fast food debacle. ;) I went way off plan at Christmas time and felt SO disgusting and horrible by the time the season was over that I SWORE that I wouldn't do it again this year...you guys remind me of that next Christmas, LOL

As for me...well, got signed up for the Warrior Dash last night. Thank God I checked b/c there were only 10 spots left for Saturday and our group got 5 of those. I was AMAZED that I was actually able to get in touch w/ everybody in time to get the spots...when my cousin texted me and told me it rejected her I thought they had run out of spots...then I saw the rest of her text said "they said I was too old...JK, I'm in!!!" LOL Went to DanceFit last night and they finally gave us some GaGa to dance to...woot woot!!! And then I topped the night off w/ a new episode of Glee. Good night!!! Today has just been work...but when I get off I'll be doing Week 3 Day 2 of C25K (which, by the way, has not been as bad as I thought it was going to be). Tomorrow someone from the opposite rotation is working for me, so I'll be off all day...yay!!! And the position just posted today, but I'm still debating on whether or not I'm going to apply for a Sergeant's position at work. Hmmmm, we'll see.

Okay, gotta run. Hope you ladies had a good day.

BellaLucia 03-09-2011 10:55 PM

Hi family, how are you? It's been too long. Love you all!

Lexxiss 03-09-2011 11:03 PM

Okie(Bella Lucia), great to hear from you!

Natasha, you are the queen of personals! lol

I'm enjoying a quiet night. Kirk went to bed right after we got home from church. I've got to update on the Spring Challenge...I think I'll cruise through the cupboards and see what I can come up with for a menu for tomorrow and enjoy a nice cold diet coke on the couch.

See ya'll tomorrow!
