an overdue introduction

Hello all, I thought it was well past time for me to introduce myself since it seems I will be joining in for a while. I followed the general practice of eat less move more and lost nearly 40 pounds several years ago, but this fall found me with injuries sickness and various other things to decrease my exercise time. Also "you can't out exercise poor eating habits" should be tattooed on my inner arm so I can refer to it hourly. We pretty much stick to a whole foods diet, but I eat too much. At a Superbowl party I was talking to a friend of a friend about south beach. She had just finished phase 1 and was over the moon with her results. I thought maybe a plan was in order this time, but I wanted it to be centered around whole foods, that I prepare. I checked in the on plan thread and thought, that could work for us. It's been three weeks and I couldn't be more pleased, only a couple of funky days in the beginning . On the positive: my cravings are greatly diminished and many days totally gone, my long standing addiction to diet coke or coke zero has gone away, and I have lost 10 pounds so far.

Thanks for letting me play along. I believe the daily check ins, food accountability and challenges plays a big part in this feeling so successful for me.

Christine

Welcome! I love the healthy aspects of this diet too. It's a great community here.

Hello!

We've crossed paths on the phase I thread, I'm glad it is going well for you so far! I agree with the 'you can't out exercise bad eating habits' sentiment, I am guilty of that too! In fact, when I was an undergrad I weighed about 15lbs more than I do now for exactly that reason...

Good luck for the 1/2 marathon! When is yours? Mine is on 17th April :)

Howdy Christine and thanks for the introduction. I so enjoy getting to know everyone. Sounds like you are doing just fine with SB so far. Hope to see lots more of you posting to the various threads.

Thanks everyone!!!!

Claire my half is in two weeks. Yikes!! It's not my first one, but I had to switch to run walk intervals to get the distance. running long while on phase one was def NOT a pleasure. Sugar has it's purpose ya know. I'm also doing an 8k in May where I plan to beat my last years time. I'll be extra strong from having to lug this extra weight around:p

Ah good luck! I am on phase 1.5 now for at least two weeks, to see if I can do a clean phase 1 + fruit. I didn't manage it with no fruit! I think my body has got used to the low carb running now (I did Atkins before for 2 weeks) but hopefully I'll go even faster when I carbload before my race :) Good luck!
