  • Cyber Coffee is hot and ready to roll!
Today we are supposed to get a whiff of Spring. I know the warmer temperatures will be just a tease but I am ready for a break in this hard winter. There is still a foot of snow on my deck but I'm hoping the two warmer days will knock it down. We usually don't lose the snow until the end of March and even then there are patches of it in the woods.

We'll be "at home" this morning and I'm hoping for no interruptions. I still am chugging through end of the year accounting stuff and need to focus. I must have been asleep in class the day we talked about payroll deductions. Both dogs will do pet therapy at noon which is always a great break. The clients adore the dog visits and there are lots of smiles and tail wags.

What's happening in your nest today?
  • Wednesday, 2/16, Beach Chat
Am I really first? It seems like ages since I've started the Daily.

Anyway, I'm going to get myself a big mug of coffee and I'll be right back!

    ETA -

Oh, shoot! You beat me to it, Ruthie!
  • Tee-hee! But thanks for filling up my mug!
  • Hi Ruth and Cottage,
Ruth, I love the idea of pet therapy although I've never seen it in action. A funny pet story: at my church, each October they do a blessing of the animals. Someone brought a chicken last year (I don't know who, and I don't know whether it's legal to keep chickens in Brooklyn, but whatever) and as the chicken was getting blessed it layed an egg! There is actually a video of this. I'll try to dig up the link.

Woke up with a cold today - it was actually hanging around yesterday, but I wasn't sure it would become full blown or not. Oh well - thank goodness it's not anything more serious. I finished my quarterly report at work yesterday and now can move forward beyond it (whew). Next one due the end of March.

Hope everyone has a great day. Yes, it's warming up for us here too - tomorrow it might be in the 60s.
  • Good morning ladies!

Busy day today but nicer weather so the kids will be able to get outside. I'll probably head out with them for a little while, low 30's will feel really warm after yesterday! My kiddos were so very, very good yesterday, even though we were stuck indoors all day. I worried for nothing.

I'm not sure if they overbought or always have such dramatic sales on the day after Valentines Day but I had a great time buying flowers yesterday afternoon. Bouquets were half price at the grocery store. I picked out my favorites and delivered them to some ladies I know at the senior housing complex. I wish I'd thought to do that ON Valentines Day. The ladies were pleased but I think I enjoyed it even more than they did.

Today is my "long day". Meetings before and after school and then back to town for youth group tonight. I was careful not to overdo the junk food on Valentines Day but youth group is always a challenge for me. We're having a 'welcome back' celebration this evening and I'm going to have to be really careful. I'm not sure why I'm so inclined to overeat when I'm with the teens but at least I'm aware of it now. I think I'll probably bring SF gum and just avoid the food.

    Enjoy your Wednesday friends!
  • Good morning chicks. I was having a weird dream and popped awake at 5AM, so I figured I should go with it. I'm already showered and dressed and have laundry going and one cup of coffee down. Time to get the babies moving now.
You chicks helped me yesterday, thanks. I thought of you when I wanted to put a scoop of ice cream on my bean brownie. I was not perfect, but I was sane and that makes me feel better. Today I will strive for perfection. I made some dal last night, and creamed spinach with the ww Alfredo sauce, so I have yummy things to look forward to today. I am so hungry from my metabolism being sped up with the thyroid, so I'm not going to worry so much about quantity right now, I just really need the detox. And the weather will be beautiful, so I will drag my lazy butt out for a long walk.

Matilda, hope your cold doesn't blow up into anything too miserable. DD1 was complaining yesterday about coming down with a cold, so I am expecting some push-back on school this morning. We aren't even allowed chickens in this small town, but had a town rooster for a while here. He didn't seem to belong to anyone, but just wandered up and down Main Street, and roosted in the garages and barns when he felt like it. I wonder what ever happened to him?
Good morning, cottage and Ruth. Enjoy your dog visit, Ruth. I am sure those clients really look forward to seeing the doggage.

Well, I had to make it to my second cup before I realized that this batch of cold brew really did not turn out well. I bought a new drip machine last week, in preparation for DH's homecoming, I just may need to break it in today.
  • Good morning I'm off to an 8am PT session then a 9am meeting. After that the day is more relaxed. So far I like my new job configuration. Ask me again next week when another crisis pops up (this group of people seem to slide from crisis to crisis).

I'll be back later, probably from my Brattleboro office (at The Works coffee shop w/WiFi).
  • I have my coffee, so now I'm officially 'here'.

Matilda, that chicken story is hilarious! It's great that the event was recorded on video. I hope your cold isn't too bad and that you get over it soon.

Ruth, thanks for the coffee, dear friend. I'll be thinking of you today, wading your way through that payroll stuff. I hope you get it all figured out.

We're supposed to have a bit of a Spring Tease here today and the next week, and our snow is finally disappearing. I can see bare ground in my back yard, but the front lawn is still snow covered. Usually, I have crocus poking their heads up by this time, but I have no idea what surprises await under the heavy blanket of snow since it's been there since December.
I'll be spending the morning at Susie's, and she's supposed to give me a lesson on how to make a proper popover, but I will try to talk her out of it. I know they are definitely Food Porn and she knows I'm following SBD, but once she has her mind set on something, there's no stopping her, and I hate to hurt her feelings. I'll just have to make sure I account for it with my other meals for the day.
  • Good Morning

Thanks for getting us started, Ruth...and Linda. I think it came down to who had the faster server.lol I'll admit to being up earlier, but DH pulled up a chair in my office and so I decided I was better off going back to bed.

Ruth, have fun with the pups today!

Linda, ouch for popovers. I don't think they respond well to WW flour, either.

Cyndi, hope you make it to your other "office" very soon!

    Matilda, funny story!

Schmoodle, yay for a better day yesterday and another planned today!

Heidi, how nice of you to take flowers to the seniors! I was in the store both Monday and Tuesday and was amazed at how much was still being sold.

Me, now enjoying some quiet time. I think my Sis is supposed to drive over early to go skiing, but I didn't hear from her last night. I guess I'll just get everything ready and keep working on my rescue paperwork until she arrives...or doesn't. I did click this am that Mom might be tagging along, too. It's always complicated...seems she doesn't like the kids getting too close.

I've got to hop on the scale then grab some coffee. I got stuck at the dreaded Chinese restaurant and the scale jumped 7# from Thurs to Sunday. It is my absolute last choice but we got invited out to dinner and when the 1st choice didn't work our elder friends chose. Choices were poor and we didn't get what we ordered. I'm usually hep on asking for something else but it just wasn't appropriate. The hostess would have felt mortified that she didn't pick a better place. Oh, well.

See ya'll later. I did try to call Okie last night. I'm pretty sure she doesn't have easy internet access yet. I'm missing her!
  • Debbie, if you get in touch with Okie, please send her our regards too. I hope she's doing well. I sympathize with you on the restaurant situation, that's sort of the position I'm in this morning with Susie. We just have to do our best and make up for it later. I'm sure those extra pounds will soon melt away. Have a good time skiing, if you go!

Schmoodle, I was looking for a posting from you last night, but I see you had a pretty good day yesterday. I'll have to give that Alfredo sauce a go, it sounds yummy. Have a great OP day today, and enjoy your walk in this Spring-like weather. These days have been pretty rare this winter!

Cyndi, I'm glad you're enjoying your new job configuration. Have a great day!

Heidi, that was such a thoughtful gesture to take flowers to your friends to brighten up their day! I hope your long day is at least an enjoyable one!
  • Good morning!

Goalfinisher - Nice to meet you!

Linda - I'm feeling great; thanks for asking. Just over one more week until I am considered totally healed. My mom will sometimes make popovers for family gatherings at the lake. Fortunately not very often. Yum.

wan2bemom - I am not a big veggie fan either but found that almost any taste much better roasted.

Ruth - We've been getting teased here too, but I'm enjoying the warmer days while they last.

Matilda - Hope you feel better soon.

Heidi - That was so thoughtful of you. I bet there were lots of smiling faces.

Schmoodle - My eating has not been great either. Sigh. I feel like a broken record lately.

Cyndi - Glad the job is going well.

Debbie - We won't make it skiing this season so do a run for me please!

All went well yesterday with hubby's colonoscopy. I didn't see my teen the whole day! We left before he got up for school and he had a late night for his broadcast show so got home after I went to bed. Not much on tap today but some little niggles. May pull out the scrapbook to play catch up, too.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • I know Karen, sigh. It's embarrassing to keep repeating myself.
Debbie, Chinese and Italian restaurants are tough challenges. I'm glad you are checking up on Okie. I hope she's having a great time exploring her new surroundings.
cottage, even though I should have expected it would be good if Cyndi recommended it, I was surprised that the texture of the Alfredo sauce was so creamy. Really yummy.
I hope TallandThin will check in today, she was supposed to have her cardioversion yesterday.
I broke out the new pot, and sadly, still not getting a great cup of coffee. I'll have to play around with the dosages and strengths, I guess. Guess it's just not meant to be a great coffee day today. Time to make some tea. And there's no putting it off, I'm actually supposed to work 8 hours today, so I'd better get to it.
  • Good morning,

Yesterday was beautiful here. We got above sixty, I heard we were actually one degree from breaking a record. I loved in because, during my son's voice lesson I was able to go walking. His teacher lives in an older neighborhood, it is fun to look at all of the houses. It also meant for the first time since getting my pedometer I actually got 10,000 steps. Today is supposed to be nice again I just won't have the break to go walking.

    Have a great day!!

  • Good morning,

I am also waiting to hear reports from both Okie and TallnThin.

Getting ready to leave tomorrow evening to go visit my folks. Not looking forward to the drive 10 1/2 hours but it will be nice to see them.

    Have a great day everyone.
  • Morning everyone! Whee what a day! Back at work and super busy. Chris was in a minor car accident this morning. He was in the left lane and the other person in the right lane went to turn right into a parking lot and veered into Chris' lane when turning, breaking her mirror and scraping up Chris' car. Late start to work for him this morning, not a good day, my poor man. But I'm SO very thankful that everyone was ok!!! That's the most important part. Money is money, no big deal. I'm so glad no one was hurt!!!!

Otherwise, had forgotten I worked OT during our Storm of the Century, and had that lovely surprise on my check today! Amazing how God blesses us. Took my car in to get the door handle fixed Monday morning, and was thankful it was only $158! Then got a call from the dealership yesterday saying that it was their goof-up that caused the Warranty Company to decline, so next week they're going to give me a free oil change, service my car, and give me the $158 I paid the auto shop to fix it! Holy cow!

Then went to Plato's Closet to trade in some of my Spring/Summer clothes from last year and picked out a really cute shirt. Got my debit card out to pay the difference and they said "Looks like we owe you 60 cents." SWEET! Free shirt!

And it's Wednesday already! YAYYYY! I hope and pray that you all are blessed as you go through your day today!
