Starting the Beach with my next meal....

I have all the books, and I know what to do, but I never really gave the South Beach way of eating a chance.

So now my attitude is different, for many reasons. No more playing around. I think it's the healthiest, most livable plan around. I'm really going for it this time.

I just had an iced coffee with 1% milk, and my next meal will be a South Beach meal. I thought of starting tomorrow, but why wait?

I'll be weighing in only at the end of my 14 day phase 1 stint.

Glad to meet you all!

:welcome2:

I'm like you...I never gave this WOE a chance. This last time was different for me, too. My heart made the committment for life and I haven't looked back. I still have weight to lose but I've never felt better! Please join in with us! Posting on the daily thread will give us all a chance to get to know each other better. It's great accountability and a really supportive group.

Debbie, thanks for the welcome! Your stats are just wonderful. You are a true success story.

I am so glad I finally made the commitment. Many things have led up to this, but the most important thing is that I'm doing it! That makes me very happy. I'm not going to look back on all my false starts, but just carry on from here.

I saw in your bio that you got off your blood pressure meds. That really gives me hope. I"m on two of them - well one now - the second one had side effects of a dry cough that was so horrible, it made me sick and kept me up at nights. I just stopped it cold without even telling my doc. In 3 months I'll go back in for an appointment. I am feeling positive that my BP will be greatly reduced.

I was also thinking of joining the "official" South Beach Diet website as well. But I'm glad to be here!

I lost 1/2 my weight by sheer willpower, eating a notch better and exercising regularly. My BP did come down some but not enough to be off meds. I used to monitor everyday because it made me nervous. Within my first 6 mos following SBD I was off the meds. My first bloodwork wasn't for close to a year and what dropped the most were my triglycerides. My cholesterol was right at 200. I'm hoping that has dropped when I get results again in April.

Welcome! I love how you didn't wait until the proverbial tomorrow.

Thank you so much for all the welcomes. Wow! What a friendly group. I am so glad to be here.

Debbie, your post about your blood pressure and SB really gives me hope. I really think my BP will go down too. I always had normal blood pressure all my life until I gained a lot of weight and suffered much job stress. Well, I'm retired now. Now it's time for me!
