The Estrogen Made Me Do It...

  • I'm having major guilt feelings right now! I have been doing so well, perfectly on plan for a month. This week I was frustrated because I lost nothing, but then realized which week of hte month it was, so I was retaining extra water and all that, but today, I ate like zero veggies, but I had like 3 servings of grain. And perhaps there was some chocolate....

Ug. I know I need to go back to Phase I for a few days. I'm just mad at myself for doing something inconsistent with my goals.
  • One of the things I love about SBD is that it's so easy to get back on track. You've been doing terrific, why let one hard week get you down? Eat your veggies, and don't waste any more time feeling guilty or annoyed with yourself.

I've never seen much point in going back to phase 1 after a couple of bad days unless I'm having cravings. I celebrated my mom's birthday with her over the weekend and had off plan treats both Sat and Sun. I'll still have my oats this morning and a few berries in my yogurt at noon time though. I'll go light on fruits and grain this week, but I don't believe that going back to phase 1 dumps weight any faster than a clean phase 2 does at this point.

Have a great, on plan day!
  • Thanks! I'm less mad at myself this morning more determined that I'm not going to throw it all away over a kitkat. I still want to hit 249 before my cruise in early November, so I still have some work to do, and I can't let this get me down.
  • I'm glad you're feeling better and are being a little bit easier on yourself. I agree with what Heidi said. For me, it has been far better to just get right back on track and let go of the negative feelings I put upon myself. Those feelings often lead to further off plan eating.

When I started SBD in May of 09, I made a commitment to 6 months OP no matter what. I had really hit bottom with my feelings of self loathing. I did it, and what it taught me that I can share with you, is that there were many times that I felt fatter than when I started and felt like it wasn't working. It did and it does, just use this experience as a tool to carry you forward.

I also follow Beck Diet Solution which helps me address some of the emotional roadblocks to success. Your statement, "This week I was frustrated because I lost nothing", is a common thinking mistake. If you can acknowledge that thought and how it sabotages your OP eating perhaps you can keep on course the next time that thought appears.

    Best wishes!
