SBD and Dairy Free?
I have an autoimmune disease and one of the issues I have as a result is hypercalcemia, or very high blood calcium. I have to be very careful with how much calcium I eat, and as a result, I have almost completely cut out dairy from my diet.
My doctor would like me to be on a diet similar to SBD (low on processed food, high on good fats, lean protein, complex carbs and fruits. I've read over a lot of the SBD recipes and meal plans and so many of them are dairy based. Is it possible to do this diet and not include a lot of dairy? Most non-dairy cheese/milk/ect is also off limits because it is enriched with calcium in the processing. |
See the thread further down this page. That should help.

I'm doing it without dairy. You just have to make your meals from the foods to enjoy list without the foods you can't have. I've found I have to plan a little more and have more veggies around to nibble on for snacks. And I've replaced a lot of the ricotta recipes with tofu and they turn out pretty decent.
The basic concept is to get rid of the processed foods from you diet-white bread, white rice and go for whole foods. We've covered this topic a couple times recently: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sout...airy-free.html http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/sout...w-o-dairy.html Good luck Sarah |
