Does anyone know much about this plan?

My understanding is that Dr Agatston devised South Beach as a program to treat heart disease in the first place. Have you tried Googling it? There might also be info on The South Beach website.

I've read the book. Explains a lot of the reasons for heart problems, understanding triglyerides, cholesterol, etc. & why the SB diet is helpful. I found it very informative.

Thanks all, I was out on some errands and popped into the library and they had the book. So, I picked it up to read. I glanced at the foods, its the same as in his other books. Just have to read all about the heart and stroke aspect of it.
