Thinking of coming back to the beach

So years ago, before I became a vegetarian, who now is a fish eater, but no other meats, I successfully followed the South beach diet right down to my lowest weight ever. I remember it working fast and being relatively easy. Then I became a vegetarian for ethical reasons, and gained about 20 pounds in 6 months. I was NOT being a healthy vegetarian. I feel compelled to go all vege again, and I feel compelled to get back on the South Beach Diet. I know it can be vege friendly, but my copy of the original SBD doesn't have much in the way of information about doing so. I am not willing to start eating all sorts of meat again. I want to know if anyone has done SBD the vegetarian way, and would like advice on this. (Back when I did it I was 165 and lost down to 148 lbs! That was over 6 years ago, and now I weigh around 180 :( )

There are quite a few vegetarians on here. I am sure they will give you lots of advice.

We also have lots of veg type recipes in the recipe section. I am not a vegetarian, but the recipes on here I have tried I like.

Welcome back to the Beach!!

I am a vegetarian, and when I make any recipe, I just substitute veggie crumbles or beans for the meat, or just top the dish with cheese. I think it's fairly simple to doctor a recipe up so it's meat-free, and have never been at a loss for what to eat.

Thanks for the tips! I havent looked over the section too extensively and the fact that there are recipies on here is awesome! I think I'm going to dust off my book and start reviewing through the tenents again.

Don't forget to check out the Revised Food List in our FAQ Section. Vegetarian SBD is perfectly doable!
