Hmmm... maybe I should seriously consider becoming a vegetarian! ;) lol

I don't like to advertise the fact that I'm on a diet so it's awkward when others push me to try this casserole or that dessert. People have started to ask more questions lately but I usually just say, "I'm trying to eat better and get more exercise." and leave it at that.

I'm sorry about the school book mix up Kara. I wish we lived a bit closer to each other - maybe I could get you to clean MY house when you're stressed....

Why would anyone realistically want to lose an hour of sleep??? I mean really...

I am swamped at work. Mondays are always crapdays for me. Once day this may change for me. But until then, meh.

Thursday DW goes to Maine for a week - and while I will miss her terribly, I am looking forward to eating all the foods I can't with her there - like zucchini and peppers!!!!!!

:p I know what you mean Jenn - I've been eating cabbage and bean casserole and crack slaw every day while Fergie is in PA. lol He's good about trying anything I fix but he doesn't like the smell of cooked cabbage.

I hope your Monday gets better. :)

Quick post for me crazy at work, trying to get everything done before leaving for florida in the am.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone,

I got my Christmas present this morning - a massage that I've been putting off for three months, lol. It was amaaaaaaaaazing. I feel so relaxed. And, also, I dropped 2 pounds. Who could ask for a better Monday?

(They gave me fruit and a chocolate cookie after the massage, though...I gave into temptation. Oops!)

jenne1017 03-15-2010 02:04 PM

Heidi - luckily, she really likes the crack slaw. When I have a spare 30 minutes (maybe after homework tonight) I am going to come up with a meal plan!!! Maybe a stir fry (yummy cooked peppers -- such flavor!), brown rice pasta (only one pot of water instead of two!), "fried" zucchini, lentil soup...

the possibilities are endless!!! :)

jenny - sounds like a perfect day - save the temptation ;)

yay pearl for vacation!!!

Heidi, I probably would have done it. I was pretty frustrated! I think your line for church sounds really good. Lots of people are trying to eat healthier. I know I never feel comfortable telling people that I'm on a "diet" because I'm already in a normal BMI, but I don't feel like there's a stigma attached to eating healthy. Most of my friends know I stick to whole grains, no hydrogenated oils or HFCS, get in lots of veggies, etc. The problem I run into is that it seems like other people have more of a tendency to splurge and if I splurged every time we had a church gathering, I'd not only not lose weight, but I'd probably gain it!

Jenn, my husband doesn't like peppers either and I always put them in everything when he's gone. LOL He does like zucchini, though, so we make that pretty often. Our favorite preparation lately has been cutting it in spears and tossing with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and then roasting it and topping with feta. Mmmmm!

Rose, have a good trip!

Jenny, I'm glad you enjoyed your massage! My kids gave me a gift certificate for a massage for Christmas, too. I'm saving it for when I finish my exercise program at the end of next week.

I'm home from my church meeting and it went SO well having the older kids babysit for my crew. They had a blast and I got to attend the meeting uninterrupted. Our chaplain was just named the Air Force Chaplain of the Year! He is really fantastic and completely deserves it!

Happy Monday everyone

Been grocery shopping this morning. Boy! You can see just how much the rain and cold in the winter growing regions affected prices. $2 for a head of red leaf lettuce. I just kept telling myself "you are worth that - go ahead & get it". Anyway, it was my first shopping trip since I started SBD. It's a lot easier when you can stay out of the aisles. Only ventured in for V-8 and canned tuna.

2 of my grandgirls called last night to see if they could come for a sleepover with g'ma this weekend. They really didn't have to ask - I can't refuse them anything, especially time with them. I haven't seen them since the holidays. They are getting so grown up and busy, and I know the time is coming when the sleepovers will be few and far between. So glad it hasn't happened yet.

It's so hard to go to big family/community events that are built around food. Especially when there is ALWAYS someone who wants you to eat something you don't want, for whatever reason. When that happens to me, I just tell them I'm allergic to whatever it is. This is not a lie - everytime I eat something that is toxic to me, I break out in FAT!

Got to go get some cleaning, etc. done. Hope everyone is having a happy day.

not having such a great couple of days...

despite the urge to smoke, drink and eat pizza, I am still on plan. Phase 1 day 12.

sorry, not very positive today.

Hi Chicks :) Missing you guys and my frequent daily check-ins.

I usually just tell people I can't eat sugars or processed grains. It's really true because they do cause me health problems. When I think about how I feel when I eat processed crap it is not an exaggeration to say I can't eat that stuff. I spent years protecting DW's health needs and asking all the appropriate vegetarian questions so don't have a problem with being direct about my food needs. We are also lucky to live in an area where lots of people have unusual food needs so no one bats an eye around here. Servers understand vegetarian, vegan, gluten intolerant, diabetes etc.

I miss my Wii and I just know it's going to have something to say about being abandoned for 4 days ;) Time to take advantage of the extra daylight and walk the dog.

me4life 03-15-2010 05:48 PM

i was online about 3 a.m and opted to not post before everyone got up...lol today is first day back on plan and it went great i'm having spagetti squash tonight so should be a good day

Beautiful day in Iowa here. Sunshine can make even Monday feel great. I'm getting my hair cut and highlighted tomorrow, so I'm really excited for that. Hope this weather holds, but the forecast says cooler this weekend and possible snow! It's easier to go for a long walk outside in the sunshine than to get motivated to go to the gym. I don't like losing an hour of sleep, but do enjoy the longer daylight. Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

cottagebythesea 03-15-2010 07:14 PM

I'm really tired this evening! I guess getting up an hour earlier is catching up with me. ;)

I don't like to let people know I'm on a diet, nor do I like to let them know I'm vegetarian. On the few occasions I've had people actually question my eating habits, I just them I had a big lunch (or breakfast), and I'm still full. But most people don't even notice or care what I have on my plate.
