Back On The Beach...Lesson Learned

Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly new to 3FC (couple of weeks) and like all of you, have a desire to get my weight under control and just be done with it. I had great success with SB and was within 15lbs of my goal weight when I got derailed. I won't
bore you with the details (excuses), but the end result is that I'm at the starting weight I was when I first went on SB years ago:mad: Well, it's all
in the past now, and I refuse to dwell on it. Let's just say I'm focusing on
the future and have learned valuable lessons along the way. I re-read the book and started Ph 1 yesterday. Ahhhh..it feels great to be back! During the past couple of weeks I have researched other plans, but in the end SB is the only way to go for me for several reasons:

1. It's not a fad, just a sensible WOE that is sustainable for a lifetime.
2. I love the food
3. I love the versatility
4. I love the energy I have and the sense of well being when on the Beach
5. It works well for my DH in that he doesn't have to feel like he is on a
"diet" with me.
6. No one needs to know you're on a "diet" with all the hoopla that goes
with that
7. No counting
8. Freedom from craving
9. Freedom from "dieting"
10. Food. Nourishing food, Tasty food. In Abundance. NO HUNGER.

It's good to be back:D

Cindy

Welcome back, Cindy! All I can say is ditto to everything you said about South Beach. I think it has finally clicked for me that I have to monitor my eating in one way or the other - I can't just eat whatever I want, whenever, and expect to maintain a healthy weight. This is relatively easy for me to do. Glad to have you back.

Welcome, Cindy! You sound like you have a fantastic attitude and are ready to tackle this head-on!

Heidi58 02-17-2010 07:11 AM

Hello Cindy, it's nice to meet you. :D

What a great list of reasons to go with/stay with South Beach. You did a super job on this list, I may copy it and keep it for later reference. (Numbers 5 and 6 are big ones for me.)

I look forward to getting to know you. :)

:welcome2: Back to The Beach, Cindy! I'm so glad that you realized this WOE is one of the best life plans there is out there. There are so many misconceptions regarding what South Beach is all about.
I'm glad you are re-reading the book, and check out the updated food lists in our FAQ section, too. Since the new Super-charged book has come out, there have been a few additions to Phase 1 & 2.
We look forward to having you with us, and with your renewed enthusiasm and determination, I know you'll succeed in reaching your goal this time!

H Cindy:sunny: and :welcome3:

I'm very impressed with your list....my feelings exactly. I feel like I'm here to stay this time, too. I've figured out that if I eat healthy(OP) 99% and exercise regularly that the weight will come off so I don't obsess on with the scale when I eat OP.

I look forward to getting to know you better!

Welcome Cindy!

I'm new to 3FC too and today is day 3 of P1.

So nice to meet you Cindy. Your list is great.

I have done this before too, and regained. Twice before I reached my goal - once I gained it all back, the other time I finally stepped on the breaks and got back onto PH1. So here I am again, having learned more about myself and my eating and the power of being part of this amazing community.

Welcome Cindy!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you as well.

Cottage By The Sea: Do you think the new book is so different that it's worth getting?

siobhanmc 02-17-2010 05:04 PM

That's a great list, Cindy. #4 is definitely my #1 reason for doing SB. I have both books (the original and super-charged). I think the Super-charged book has some great information in it and I like all the exercise information it contains.

Hi there Cindy! I couldn't have said it better- great, positive list!!

I'm thinking about getting the new supercharged book this weekend... I did the sneak peek on amazon's website, looks like a lot of changes.

murphmitch 02-17-2010 06:29 PM

Welcome Cindy! I agree with everything in your list. I bought the new book but wasn't impressed with it too much. Our Food Lists here are up to date with it. It does have an exercise program in it if you are interested in that. :welcome2:

Welcome from another South Louisiana native! Been in N. Texas for 9 years and miss the bayou! One of the best things about SBD for me...crawfish are OK. Well, maybe a little too high in sodium but otherwise OK. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!
