Happy Friday! I have to admit -- for the past two days, I've consumed more water than I have in the past two months, and the scale moved this morning! Down 1.5 pounds! WooHoo!! "I'm a believer!" :D
Auston and I did all his Valentines for school Monday night for today's party. Yesterday at school, he took them out of his backpack. His teacher told him to put them back in his backpack. I don't know what he did, but they are NOT in his backpack. There is not time for Auston to write them again! He frustrates the mess out of me sometimes! The elementary school has a Valentine's Dance this afternoon after school. I've taken a vacation day to get ready for the Mardi Gras party. I hope to slip into the dance to see if Auston and Mary Grace are dancing. He's already announced that he's going to marry Mary Grace. We sent her 3 carnations today -- a school fund raiser. So sweet! There is a light dusting of snow on our deck this morning. We are supposedly going to get 2 inches today. We'll see... Happy Friday, my Friends. :) |
Ruth, I hope the tree cleanout is quick and easy. Funny about the dogs being on-guard. They had to keep track of those trespassers in their yard, huh?!
Cat, I'm so glad you'll get to use your power point slides! I wish I could be there for your wetlands talk. The kids will love it, I'm sure! Debbie, sorry the cats are missing their canine friends! Good luck with your travels. Heidi, is Fergie your husband's full name? I've been wondering but keep forgetting to ask. Cyndi, we do little gifts for the kids, and usually some kind of pink/red breakfast. This year, we're leaving for vacation early Sunday morning so I'll have to make some kind of on-the-road treat. I'm sorry you're having troubles with your loss, too. It's like there's something up with the moon or the planets aren't aligned or ... Linda, I hope you have a safe ride over to Cindy's this morning. Mmckellen, I can't wait to hear about your gifts!!! Karen, I'm sorry to hear you're stalled out, too. What a mess we're all in! Michelle, your story about Auston and Mary Grace is precious! Congrats on the lost poundage!!! I'm halfway through the decluttering and cleaning in our room. Luckily for me, Tom got sent home as soon as he got to work because the roads were so bad, so he's been here to help all day. ("Why do *I* have to clean with you?" "Because it's YOUR ROOM, TOO!") He ended up being a huge help! |
Oh, Chelby, the Valentine's day card mystery. We have the same thing happen every year. (I love it when parents send ME boxes of valentines to fill out for their kid...NOT!) We had so much going on yesterday that valentines were a quick affair...pass em out quick, grab a cupcake and let's clean! We were trying to quickly pass out "no school tomorrow" notes, putting all of our Louisiana Day stuff away (our postponed LA day included a Mardi Gras Mambo and all our tamborines were all over the room) I was trying to gather up all my stuff to work on over the 5 days we will be off...it was a mad house.

Morning
It is wet and cold here. We are suppose to getabout 3 inches of snow today. All the surrounding schools are closed. The airport is closed and it hasn't even snowed yet. LOL People in South Bama do not know how to handle snow. I was hoping I would get the day off. Will be later with personals. Need to get dinner in the crockpot. Chelby I am kinda doing what you did last week. I am putting a pork roast in with beans. I didn't have pinto so I am using a mix of red and black beans with lots of mexican type spices. Have a great day Tammie |
FoodO....don't you dare spend Vday in bed....go thee out and play!!!!!!!
You don't need anyone but yourself...so take yourself out....pamper yourself..go get a hair cut or a mani/pedi. You really can't ever count on another person to make you happy...so make yourself happy!!! We all have a finite number of days on this planet and need to make every one of them count on the "fun ladder"...play, baby, play. No waiting till "one day" and "if this happens" and "when this happens"...life is NOW. No waiting for rewards....reward yourself today. I am true believer in working hard and doing my best, then playing even harder. Finite days, baby.. |
Good morning chatty chickies!
Way too many already - but I can't help make a few comments --- Okie - I didn't have a serious boyfriend either...all in due time. I agree with Cat - get out there and have fun on Valentines day!! Do you have a reward set up for yourself when you get in the 2's?? Cyndi and Kara - have you guys hit your happy weight? You put in 3000 minutes amonth in exercise, good gracious! I know the girl at work asked me my weight the other day, and I told her "128". And she looked at me and said, "oh, well....you're really muscular though". BITE ME!!! But it did make me realize a bit too, it is true in part. I'm not sure if I want to exercise even more than I am, and cut my calories drastically, to get back (and stay) at that 122. For me, that's not very sustainable (esp. with kids in the family!). I was hoping to hang around 125...that is doable, I believe. Just not as many treats as I have now!! Yeesh...I gotta get moving! I have work next, DS's valentine party, then I think we're going sledding...wOOOOOooooOOOO! |
Good morning,
Wow lots of posts, so sorry no time for personals. Karen, you asked in yesterday post- I don't have any kids in college yet. I have a Senior and a Junior in HS and then DD2 who is 6. DS is still deciding which college he wants to go to- we have it narrowed down to 3- we are visiting one on Monday. Tonight DD2 is having 1st grade Olympics at school so DH and I are both going to have some fun with her tonite. DH and I don't celebrate Valentines Day officially, we may go to the movies or something, but do be honest I don't like the commercialism of the Holiday. Kids around my area get big gifts for valentines day from their parents and I just don't get it. I will sometimes buy a small box of chocolates for each child. Have a wonderful day today |
Chelby - I wondered about snow for you after seeing a national forecast today. I am very glad the days of my kids doing valentines is long over.
Kara - Where are you going for vacation? (If you said already I have missed it or forgotten... both highly possible. Sorry.) My DH runs when I declutter. He is such a pack rat. Tammie - Your crockpot sounds yummy! I will be putting chicken in mine soon. I love to have the cooking done in the morning:) Twynn - I always wondered if we all have magic numbers in our heads for our ideal weight and where we come up with them. I so agree with you - I need to find a place where I can sustain. But the older I get the higher that number is! Rose - I would love to hear more about the colleges if you want to share (maybe PM). This is one of my favorite topics:) Narrowing it to 3 is great. My HS junior has been visiting this year since he is looking at schools far from home. DS was just looking over my shoulder while plugging his laptop into my printer. It was a bit unsettling to have him reading this site. Not quite sure why. Maybe because I don't want my kids to grow up with diet/food issues like their mom? Not sure... but it was a weird feeling. Off to work out with my own mom today. |
Morning everyone!
I am enjoying reading about everyone's VD plans (or anti-VD plans) and/or weekend plans. Only when I type VD, it makes me think of venereal disease, and I hope nobody has any of THOSE kind of VD plans, haha. I think I'm going to dinner and a movie with a friend of mine who just lost her grandfather, so hopefully I can get her mind off the tough stuff for a few hours. The yoga yesterday kicked my butt and I am really sore today. Now I'm in work and stressed with a huge project we have coming up. My picture gives away what I do, a little bit, and needless to say that sometimes people ask for more than we can give in the photography department. They don't always understand that in order to make things look like a Nike commercial, they need to give us money for equipment rental, etc. However, if the project I'm doing works out, it's going to be a huge boon for our department. And maybe garner me a promotion - eek! Diet-wise, I'm doing well and feeling good. I avoided the scale this week because I fell down some stairs (slippery when wet!) and have a huge bruise on my backside, and a few other places, so I'm convinced my body is retaining water to heal. I didn't want to deal with a stall or a gain, so I gave myself a week off from weighing. Now my WI is looming on Monday and I'm going through my typical scale anxiety where I'm convinced I've gained back everything I've lost, even though I've been totally OP and even managed to resist the free smoothies and muffins they were giving away at the gym yesterday! Hope you all have a great Friday! |

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best Valentine's DAy EVER! Nicole knows I LOVE the Dollar Tree...I usually get her stocking stuffers there. She won't step foot in one with me as she knows I could spend 4 hours in one... |
Tammie, enjoy your snow!
Tammy, I'm at my high weight now - the uncomfortable-clothes-don't-fit-well phase. I would be OK hanging between 132 and 135, but I'd really like to get back down to 125. That's what I weighed when we were in Korea and I felt really good in my clothes then. Karen, we're going to Garmisch in the Bavarian Alps for a short stay. The kids have off Monday and Tuesday for a German holiday and we're taking advantage of it! Jenny, you're hilarious! I thought the same thing when I first read "VD". I'm not much for acronyms, although after ten years of being a military wife, I'm pretty darn good at figuring them out. Why would a gym give out muffins??? That's evil! I was invited to a movie with a friend tonight and Tom said he didn't mind watching the kids, so I'm heading out in a half hour. I'm so excited! |
WOOHOOO Because of our "little" snow a few inches they have closed the post down because the roads are too slick to drive on. So I had to come home from work and I don't go back til Tuesday. YEAH!!!! I am going to get some cleaning and decluttering done and ofcourse I have have ton of homeowrk to do.
Take care Tammie |
Oh Kara - you're going to Garmisch? :D :D
How I wish Fergie and I were going! We loved Garmisch-Patenkirchen and went there as often as we could. It's where we learned to ski, and our kids learned to ice skate at the Olympic Stadium there. We've got photos of my mom holding our 11 day old daughter Elisabeth on top of the Zugsptize. (We went up the Eibsee cable car and spent soooo long at the top while my mom worked up courage to make the ride back down. lol I'm sure things have changed a lot, our last visit was in the summer of 1989. Have a wonderful, wonderful time! I can't wait to hear about your trip. :) (My husband's name is Harold, but he usually goes by "Fergie". Our last name is Ferguson.) |
JennyP - Sounds like you had a great eating week and :crossed: you see it reflected at your WI. I had the same VD thought and may have been the first one who typed that! I seem to remember we thought that was pretty funny when we were kids.
Jenn - So many chicks sharing your name on here! Kara - Sounds so cool. (No pun intended.) Tammie - Have fun with your time off! Heidi - My husband's name is Larry. I remember when I met him thinking I could so not date a guy named "Larry." Heidi and Fergie sounds fun together:) Off to go start roasting asparagus to go with crockpot chicken. Time can get away from me on the beach. Going to a HS bball game tonight with neighbors so will post my challenge now so I don't forget. I will not cheat later! |
What am I gonna do when I hit the 2s? I will buy myself a Harlequin novel. Thanks guys. I hope to find my man someday soon.
