Wanton Wednesday!
My sister won't be going to school till Monday. I was supposed to meet up with Shirley (friend) tommorrow but because of the snow, it ain't happening. I love SB, it won't be long till my collar bones come back, lol. Welcome to our daily chat chickies and roosters!
|
Okie, I literally laughed out loud about your collarbones. I hope they return soon! It made me think of the Dr. Seuss book _Horton Hatches the Egg_ where Maizy the Lazy Bird goes on a vacation and leaves Horton to watch her egg and then she ends up having such a good time that she doesn't want to come back.
I am having a terrific start to my day! I got to move my ticker down a pound this morning!!! It's far from a whoosh, but the last time I updated my ticker was on the 3rd of January, so it's been a long time in coming. AND the only reason I lost weight that day was because my period was over, so really this is the first real pound I've lost since December. How's that for a plateau?! Hopefully it won't be another two months before the next one comes off! I am tackling the closet today. We have this very small room on the second floor that Tom made into a closet, with some shelves and hanging bars. My clothes and the girls' dresses and sweatshirts are in there and it is a disaster. It is my decluttering mission of the day and it is a big one! If I don't check in again today, send out the search party because I may have gotten lost! ;) The whole room may measure five feet square, but I sure have packed it with a lot of junk so I have my work cut out for me. Kadyn and Avery are off to school after doing their phonics lessons and grammar and violin for Kadyn. Connor left earlier this morning for school. It was snowing when he left but it's stopped now and it's bright and sunny out! We have martial arts for the girls this evening, so I have butternut squash soup in the crock pot to have for lunch today. It sure smells great! Hope your Wednesday is looking up! |
Good morning Early Chicks :coffee2: Cold but not too snowy here. I'm debating just staying home vs. going to the office for the morning and coming home at noon.
Okia - I love my collar bones! I was so excited when I noticed them popping out. Don't think I'd seen them my entire adult life. If you've always been overweight you are in for all kinds of surprises - tiny wrists, slim fingers, hip bones. I spent my whole life thinking I had "big bones". You can tell I still am a bit jazzed by it all ;) Kara - You have definitely motivating me to start culling some of our mess. Not sure I can get DW on board but I'm going to set a good example. Butternut squash soup sure sounds good. I may have to make some soon. Debbie - Speaking of butternut (Originally mistyped as butterbutt which is entertaining if you are a birder but probably not so much if you are a normal person ;) ), have you tried drying any? It's on my to try list this year. I know dehydrating is a long way off but I'm really getting a feel for doing it well and am planning ahead already :) Oops, cats say it's time to feed them not play on the internet. Happy Wednesday! |
Cyndi, I am not a birder but I got a huge kick out of "butterbutt"! Congrats on your NSV from yesterday!!! I hope you can get some relief from the back spasms soon. Tom once was having issues (he has two herniated disks in his back) and he had to go to the ER because he got stuck bent over and they gave him some crazy drugs. When he got back, we went down the street to some friends' and watched "Moulin Rouge". Right in the middle of the movie, he said, "Does anyone else see that green fairy?"
|
Good morning ladies!
Kara, congratulations on moving that ticker! :carrot: Okie, sorry you can't meet up with your friend today - but hooray for collarbones on the way! Cyndi, I'm feeling like a butterbutt this morning after nibbling cookie dough the past couple of days. Thankfully all that garbage is out of the house now. Take it easy today whichever work option you go with. It's Wednesday, my rush from breakfast til bedtime day. The good news is I'm always too busy to overeat on Wednesdays. lol Have a great Wednesday friends! |
Good morning chickies!
Okie - yay for collarbones! We're so glad that SBD is working for you, and glad you chat with us! Kara - STOP. You are making me look bad. :D. Cyndi - stay at home. Was there really a debate? Heidi and all to follow - have a great wednesday! me - it's a winter wonderland out there....beautiful! It's falling down pretty hard, I'm not sure what the forecast is yet. I know the DS school is cancelled (duh), and DD daycare has a delay. DS might go with DD!! The vegetarian chili I thought tasted pretty good. Honestly, why put tofu in it? (since I eat meat otherwise) The bad part is, my DH (Dear, dear, dear) sat down and said, "what is that white stuff?". I confessed. He said, with a look on his face, "I think I lost my appetite". RUDE. He dated a vegetarian before me and hated tofu b/c she made it all the time. (hmmm...eat it for the girlfriend, not for the wife...) He still doesn't realize he as rude, but apologized anyway. Oh well, no more tofu, eh? I'll just stick with the beans!! I have to go to work b/c the client was SOOOO nice to drop off last night, so I still have surgeries today. Great. I'm riding in the 4WD with theDH!! Have a beautiful day! |
Good Morning:sunny:
Hi Okie, I, too, love my collarbones. They showed up awhile ago, and more recently my kneecaps! The simple joys of losing fat cells. I hope you have a great OP day-sorry you couldn't meet up with Shirley. Hi Kara, I can't believe you still have stuff to go through. I'm glad the scale liked you today. Hi Cyndi, I haven't tried drying butterbutt or sweet potatoes...but I don't see why not. I'd just love to have a batch of either one for last minute soup decisions. Hi Heidi, hope your busy Wednesday is smooth sailing! Me, reality struck that we have to show up at our friends tomorrow at 4 with a large kennel, two clean dogs and dinner for 4....then return home to pack which includes non perishable lunches and snacks for 3 days, and conservative but warm clothing, remembering that we're travelling with 4 others. I've accepted this trip will not be entirely beachy. We're invited into a home on the reservation for dinner the first night we arrive and I don't think salad tops the list... So I think I'll spend the morning going through the mail and making a list. We're going to skip the pool and head to Costco (30 m) since Kirk needs to refill a prescription. This is round two of the depressing trip last year that finally motivated me to start SBD AND stick with it. Last years trip was in May, and I didn't have any clothes that fit after gaining 20 over the winter. I'm so happy I've stayed OP these 9 1/2 months and feel comfortable in my own skin, thanks in great part to you all. OK, I'm headed to the mail pile. See you shortly... Have a great day everyone! |
You're amazing, Lexiss. You are such an inspiration to all.
|
Twynn - Did you add other seasoning? I was thinking about a little cumin and maybe some oregano to make it more chili-like. Did the tofu add anything to it? Might skip that and just have a veggie burger on the side instead.
Kara - ROFL I hate those drugs Debbie - congratulations on the last 9.5 months :carrot: Hey, do the best you can with the surrounding meals and avoid the stuff that will trigger cravings and you will be okay. Enjoy the company of friends :) Just so you all know, this is a butterbutt http://juliesmagiclightshow.com/spec...b/09085741.jpg |
 at Wanton Wednesday! I'm not sure how wanton I can be today but I'll do my best. Okie, my collarbones are still MIA. I hope yours come back soon.
Kara, would you like to come here for a while when you are done? I still have Christmas clutter in the hall upstairs but did take down the side porch garlands yesterday. Cyndi, I'd vote for staying home if I were you. By the way, my dehydrator floated apart in the flood but I rescued it. I took apart the fan and heat part, dried it out and it still works fine! I'll test it with carrots before I load it with summer fruit. Heidi, I'm glad the cookie dough is gone. I need to ditch those darn Rosemary and Olive Oil Triscuits. It's off to the gym for me this morning and then some more work on my quilt. I may find and read the manual to see if I can get my camera back in working order. I probably should shop-vac the basement now that it's finally dried out. Does that count as spring cleaning? Do something wanton today! Maybe dance naked on the street? at Debbie and Twinn who tiptoed in. Have a great day. |
Cyndi - there was cumin and oregano in it...I really enjoyed the flavor. For not being with her for ... 9 years now, he can sure hold the resentment! I'll probably drop the tofu and add other veggies or something, the flavor was good.
Ruth - cleaning the basement is beyond spring cleaning! Off to the treadmill! |
Hi Twynn, after 15 yrs of marriage, I had made a nice chili supper and Kirk said I really hate chili-geez could ya have told me that 14 years ago? I think it's the only thing he ever said he didn't like. Be careful in the snow.
Originally Posted by TwynnB: Hi Ruth, I hope your day is stress free. I'm glad the dehydrator still works. BTW have you ever dried butterbutt squash or sweet potatoes? |
To all the Spring Challenge chickies, would it be ok if I made myself accountable by "posting" to a notecard and then posting online when I get back.(no wireless) It's important to me. I can't brush Rudi, either, but he's been getting some extra lately to make up for it.
|
Okie, I remember when hip bones showed up many years ago. They are actually uncomfortable to sleep on! :D
Kara, Your schedule makes me feel guilty, too.... but not guilty enough to get up and do something. ;) Cyndi, Stay home! Heidi, Happy Racing Wednesday! Debbie, Have fun on your trip! Ruth, I'll dance in the street with you, but if it's going to be naked, we both need to head south ---- WAY south! Me, It's going to be a casual Wednesday today. (Did you see the Super Bowl commercial where everyone is in the office in their underwear? ) I'll probably wear jeans. :D My boss and a coworker are lobbying the Capitol in Montgomery. I'd hate doing that! We're having a cold start today. 22* outside! Brrr!!! We 'might' get some snow on Friday. It doesn't take much snow for us to stay home. Yay! Hope you all have a great Wednesday! |
Good morning!
Our snowstorm is now being called a blizzard, and they're saying it's going to get worse as the day unfolds. Everything is closed around here, and it doesn't look like we'll be anywhere for quite a while. At least I know my parents and kids are all safe and snug in their homes. I've had my shower and washed my hair, but I put my snuggly pajamas back on and am quite content to spend a cozy day being snowed in. :) I do hope and pray that this is our last snow of the season, though. I've taken my time posting here, and now there are too many posts for personals, but congratulations to everyone discovering lost body parts, and I hope Debbie has a safe trip to Arizona. Cyndi, I'm sorry this storm decided to include you in it, but it isn't my fault! ;) Be careful out there, Twynn and Schmoodle! |
Chelby - you inspired me! After I got my haircut Friday (back to short finally) I went back to my beloved red. It's time :)
Twynn - thanks. I tweaked, of course. Put the beans in early and will add the quinoa this afternoon. My crockpot isn't entirely trustworthy when it comes to temp so I'd rather keep the liquid in most of the day. ETA - My DD's BF won't allow a crockpot in the house because his Mom was one of those 70s, cook it until it's really dead crockpot users. Debbie - I think it's often born of desperation but it still counts. I was terrified of knee replacement surgery before 50. As long as we finally get the memo and change our eating habits it's all good. I vote yes, use the old technology on the road and catch-up when you get back :) Ruth - I thought my wanton days were over but hey if you're game then who I am to hold back?! Now that dinner is in the crockpot it's time to get breakfast going :) ETA - Cottage - snuggle up with a good book and some tea. It's a perfect day for it. Hope your power stays on and you and your loved ones are all safe and warm. Looks like just the edge here so not bad for us luckily. |
Oh, Cyndi, please post pictures of your new red do. I've gotten lots of compliments on the red. Who says blonds have more fun?
|
Good morning Okie and your "almost collarbones."
Kara - another busy decluttering day for you! What will you do with all your free time when you get the whole house done? Don't say "start over!" Cyndi - Drying squash? Do you eat it like a snack or rehydrate in soups and stuff? The whole butterbutt thing is making me smile. Thank you. Heidi - I love cookie dough. When DH would buy it frozen from Costco I would dig it out with a spoon and eat it frozen. It helped me a lot when it was recalled and the public was warned not to eat it raw! Have a great day. Twynn - LOL! I don't like tofu either. My DH will try and eat almost anything. I think it comes from growing up in a big family where you ate fast or got nothing. Drive carefully! Debbie - How great that you have stayed OP since the last trip:) Sorry traveling is such a hassle. I am guessing you won't have internet while you are gone? ... Just got to your next post and my question is answered. We will miss you:( The notecards seem like a great idea. Ruth - That darn basement. I can so commiserate with you. I hope yours is back to normal long before mine was. Chelby - Glad to hear you won't show up in your undies! Cottage - your version of a snow day sound nice. I love spending a day in PJs. Cyndi and Chelby - Funny thing... I kept dreaming last night about a blog post I am going to write eventually... entitled "Bad Hair Days and the Redhead Blues." Not sure why that came up last night. Of course I was overeating in my dreams again too. Yesterday was just one of the crappy days for me. Not diet-wise, so that is good. I am going to try to be zen and happy today. I will tell you all the being on here with you always lifts my spirits and makes me smile. Happy hump day:) |
Heidi, hope you can find a moment of serenity in your busy day!
Tammy, I'm making you look bad by losing a pound over two months??? Yikes, girl! ;) You can make tofu-less chili. I don't put any tofu in mine. Debbie, good luck with your travel preparations! Ruth, I will leave the naked street dancing to you. :) Thank you for the invitation to come clean your hall. If these kids drive me any more bonkers, I just might take you up on it! Michelle, what are you boss and coworker lobbying for? Linda, have a fun snuggly day at home!!! Karen, when I finish the decluttering I'll have time to go to the gym again! |
Hey all! I don't have time for personals, you all got such an early start today. School is closed, both my and my son's, so we are planning our day. I think we'll go to the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie later (just shoot me now), assuming the theatre is open!
|
Mmckellen, I wouldn't see that movie if someone paid me. Well, maybe if someone paid me a lot. But it would take a good bit of money.
I finished the closet! I must admit that I did cheat a little and I only half-heartedly went through my clothes. But I got six bags full of little girl clothes to sell. Now I kind of want another tiny little baby... |
Good morning everyone,
Sounds like everyone is having a good day. Finding body parts, being cozy and snowed in and decluttering. Didn't get home last night til 8:30 p.m. had to pick up DH after work at the airport. So no workout yesterday, that is my goal for today. I also eat op yesterday and decided I will only visit the scale once a week for my sanity. For all of those chickies traveling please be safe. Have a great day |
Kara what recipe do you use for butternut squash?
LOL Kara-green fairy Cyndi I giggled at the butterbut. FO LOL That is one thing I have never heard about the "side effect" of loosing weight! Heide have a wonderful busy day! Tammy Have a good day. My hubby wouldn't eat tofu either. Debbie sounds like a great trip. Enjoy your trip and if you don't eat all OP that is ok because when you get back you know you will jump right back on the OP wagon!! And I agree with Tammy you’re an inspiration I want a dehydrator your making me want one. When it closer to gardening time. I need some advice. LOL I will look to you all for HELP!!! I have to do container gardening though. Chelby- I think u should wear jeans. LOL That is funny. Yeah they are saying we might get snow too. I bet you get more snow than we do. LOL I was talking to a lady at the store last night and we were joking htat if we got an inch of snow everything would close down. People down here aren't too used to snow!!! Atleast I am surrounded by military that have lived everywhere so some know how to drive in snow. I drove in it in Germany. Cottage stay warm! Karen have a happier day today. I was like that last week I was moody one day last week no reason for it. MMC ugghh alvin and chipmunks have fun!! Morning all..Chilly here..kids are moving extra slow. Not much exciting going on today. I will drink all my water today. Have a great day. Tammie |
Hola everyone!
It's been a while since I was here and yes, I fell off the wagon. Quelle surprise? I'm back in phase 1 and am really struggling mid-afternoon and end up heading for something carb-tastic which sends me downhill for the rest of the day. My weight is holding steady, but I'd like to see it going down again! Today has been a good day so far... |
Kara, Our wonderful (where is that sarcasm button???) governor cut the Children's Trust Fund budget to zero. We want our money back! :)
Mmc, I understand that the Squeakwel is PAINFUL for anyone over 12. Good Luck! Karen, I eat donuts in my dreams on a regular basis... sigh... Hola, Shimmy! Welcome back! So far, I'm the only one who has even shown up to work! Should have stayed in my jammies like Cottage! |

Karen, I've got some bad hair-I'm letting it grow out for the summer bike helmet season. I wish for you a very happy and zen day-Namaste. Mmc, have fun with your son and if you get an earworm from the movie pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez don't share! Kara, I think you really need a tiny little baby........and 3 more closets to clean! Pearlrose, thanks for putting our day into perspective. :cp: for eating OP Shimmy, welcome back. Believe me, I'm not bragging, I just am lazy and find it much easier not to stray and wind up back on P1. I hope you get through and start feeling better soon. I'm glad you're back. |
Welcome back, Shimmy! I'm glad your weight is holding, and it will be headed in the right direction very soon!
This storm is unbelievable. It's almost a total whiteout. Jake went out to shovel but came right back in. He said it was useless to try to do anything. I have the dishwasher running now and baked some chicken for Jake for his supper, just in case the power does go out. He can always eat his chicken cold if he has to. I have to tell you about my experiment with the Mock Cornbread recipe. I decided to make an apple cinnamon coffee cake with the recipe, and it turned out wonderful. I added about a teaspoon of vanilla and a dash of cinnamon to the batter, and of course I omitted the cumin and tabasco. And I substituted applesauce for the oil to lower the calories. After I poured it into a round baking dish, I topped it with apple slices and sprinkled cinnamon and splenda over it and baked it for 30 minutes. It made the house smell great! The only thing I would do differently the next time would be to add a little more agave. I only used about 2 tablespoons, and it needs more than that. But now I have a treat I can enjoy eating, guilt-free! |
<<Chelby, brr* cold! Betcha can't wait for shorts and birkies!>>
Girrrrl, You can't even imagine! Cottage, That sounds wonderful! |
Hi chicks. Thanks cottage - I don't think I'll be going anywhere anytime soon! I'm still in my jammies. I can hardly see out the window. I have seriously never seen so much snow on the ground at one time - and I lived in Maine for a while! Later (when the wind dies down), I'll take a walk and get some pix.
Last night on my way to bed, I glanced out the window to admire the snow and realized there was about 2 feet of snow piled up on the front porch roof. This is the old porch from which DH wouldn't let me hang a porch swing because he was worried about the weight. My mind immediately started calculating 600 cubic feet of snow = 9000 lbs = 1,125 gallons of water = 5.5 king size waterbeds on my porch roof. As we are expecting at least another foot, I got worried, so at 10PM last night I was hanging out the bedroom windows in my pajamas shoveling the snow off the roof. My arms hurt this morning! But if that porch comes through this okay, then I WILL be hanging my porch swing, DH be damned. Cyndi, that bird's butt looks just fine to me. Who named him? Poor thing. There is a cardinal flitting around out there in the snow. He is so pretty, I wish I could get a shot of him. Okie, collar bones are fun and so are hip bones when they first start to peek out! Chelby, we seriously need a sarcasm button. I think Cyndi and I would use it quite a bit. Hi Shimmy! Good luck with the water, Tammie! Stay close to the potty LOL! Pearl, the scale really does not help with my sanity. Kara, if I were you, I'd be sitting in that closet admiring my handiwork. I quit saving stuff for a yardsale, because the yard sale never seemed to happen. Of course you will probably be able to pull it off! Mmc, enjoy your snow day. Have a happy day waisting. I too cheat in my dreams and wake up feeling guilty. Have a great trip Debbie (warm, sunshine, sounds so nice). The first meal I made for DH was chicken enchilada casserole. I was 21 and it was probably not very good. He ate it and said yum-yum. A couple of years later, he told me he hated Mexican food. Fortunately, he seems pretty happy with the meals these days. Ruth, my basement is dry too. I just dread the snow-melt. I will probably have a swimming pool down there. I will try to think of something wanton, but there are children in the house, and no man... Twynn, your chili sounds great. DH is anti-tofu also. Wow, I made it through personals! Go me! I'm always afraid I missed someone. If I did, it's not personal! It is 10AM and I haven't eaten anything yet, a big no-no on SB and one of my main downfalls. Plus, I AM working today (so long as the power stays on). See ya later chicks! |
Tammie, for butternut squash soup, I throw into the crockpot:
2 butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and chopped 2 carrots, peeled and chopped an onion some garlic (I use four cloves or so but we love garlic here) a Granny Smith apple, peeled, seeded, and chopped (I forgot this today - oops) cumin (maybe a tablespoon?) pepper (several sprinkles?) a can of vegetable broth and a can-ful of water Then after it's cooked on high for about five hours, I puree with an immersion blender and then we add some cheddar cheese, raisins, and sliced almonds. |
Hi chickies -- power is still on but i have to go out for more shoveling. Hey, at least I am getting my exercise! I think we've got close to 50" on the ground!!!!
Stay warm and I will be back later for more, promise. Unless power goes out ;) |
Mmc - I miss some kids' movies... but not that one! We did see Up when our teen rented the DVD.
Rose - Glad DH made it home safely. Tammie - enjoy your day peeing:) Shimmy - Hopefully today is still a good one... hang in there. Debbie - Bike helmet hair. Ugh. I did get a new helmet for Christmas though:) Thanks for the zen. Cottage - Oh that sounds so dangerous to me - the coffee cake, not the snow. Okay - the snow too. But I think you should add it to the recipe section! BTW - no word from my son yet but I see that his school closed administrative offices and left classes up to the instructors' discretion. I wonder how the kids will eat if the food services staff and deliveries get snowed out. Schmoodle - I am trying to picture you hanging out the window! I laughed at your bird butt comment. Jenn - I like your new picture:) Is today the day you hear more from your doctor? Have a great afternoon all... And keep safe and snug for you east coast chicks. |
good evening
Debbie - have a fun and safe trip. Kara - were you here when I decluttered last June. We actually rented a dumpster and I could still do some. Hope all you snowed in chickies are safe and sound tonight. The news doesn't paint a pretty picture. take care Sophie |
Hi Karen-
It was supposed to be but they called Tuesday morning while I was at the grocery store to reschedule due to the snow. I asked if I could get the results over the phone but she said no. I don't think it's bad though. I think (because I had a dream about it) that it's the bile/lack of gall bladder thing. We'll see. Thanks for caring! |
HEy chickies- I am totally way up past my bedtime and probably a bit loopy... Trying to get back in the swing of the posting things, luckily for the most part I have been doing well on my dieting... Just lacking in the posting and bogging part. I think the week before TOM I always tend to get way too umm... I don't have a word for how "abnormally(instert any of the following -bi*chy, strange, tired, moody, etc.)I feel" SO I think thats whats up with me this week... usually even if I am not posting here I post in my blog and that has been super minimal... anywho- a couple more days and I should snap out of it! If by chance I am up early and not pushing to drag myself out of bed in the morning I will see you chickies then... If not, I will try to catch up again tomorrow night!
