super bowl foods!

Today I started getting excited about the super bowl this next sunday and then I realized that I am not only excited about the game, but the food too. And then it hit me...no more fun for me:(

Well I know I am being a little dramatic, but seriously what is the food plan peoples? Do you have any super bowl food ideas that kinda feel like cheating. I hate to say it, but I am really not interested in vegi dips- i love them but I am honestly just not going to be interested on super bowl sunday.

Do you all have any tricks to make the day more delicious? I was thinking that maybe i could do "wings" with chicken breast cut into long strips with hot sauce on them. I probably made it obvious that I am not a cook but that is as far as my imagination took me.

We throw an annual Super Bowl party and have been thinking the same thing - what the heck are we going to serve?? People know we are dieting, so that makes it easier.

First, veggies and humus. Couple of different kinds.
Pork Loin with black beans. Add tortillas and cheese and people can do their own burritos, and we just eat the pork and beans.

Beyond that, we are out of ideas.

:)

I love your idea for "wings"! (Of course, I am a huge hot sauce fan). You could always skewer the strips to jazz it up a bit. Check around for Naked Chicken Tenders recipes to give you an idea.

Chili is a Super Bowl staple for us - I'm going to do a low fat/low cal version this year with ground turkey, etc. Still has all the taste!

All I want to say is ---- WHO DAT!?! :D

I've never made buffalo chicken with chicken breasts. May have to give that a try.

I'm with Irish Mama - chili! You can serve with chips for the non-SB folks. Edamame in shells, raw, makes a good nosh.

Chili with RF cheese, RF sour cream, green onion as garnishes.
Veggies with hummus.
Taco Bake with lots of different toppings.
Deviled eggs.
Deli meat roll-ups with RF cream cheese, dill pickles
Roasted chickpeas
This dip sounds yummy:

Here's a recipe for Hot Wings from the Hungry Girl website. I'm not positive if the original Fiber One cereal is SBD friendly, I don't have the box anymore. I'm sure you can find out online. I've had these before, and they're quite tasty!! Oh and I don't think the bbq potato chips are SBD friendly, even though they're fat free. But I've made them with and without the potato chips....tasty either way. Make sure you use plenty of spices, otherwise you can still taste the cereal taste.

I bumped a post in the recipes section re: super bowl food.

I always make boneless chicken wings (ICBINB and Texas Pete Hot Sauce marinated and then grilled), spinach artichoke dip, a veggie platter and I think I am going to do cripsy pepperoni and cheese chips! We are supposed to go to a party and if we do, I will just bring the dip.

maybe a pizza dip and use the pepperoni's and cheese crisps as the dippers!

Heidibird - Your super bowl post really made me laugh! Only because I can SO relate to it. Every year or two we go to a friends house for the Super Bowl, who has the most amazing snacks. I just thought about how instead of fun, it will be stressful avoiding her food. Thanks for all the great suggestions on this thread! I'll bring some along!

If the weather is nice we will do "drunk chicken" (aka beer can chicken) on the grill and will probably grill some veggies as well. The chicken can be SB friendly if you can eat the breast meat and avoid the skin, which is hard because it is the best part! Although chili sounds good also.

I was thinking of making a snack mix with some of the snack ideas from the recipes section mixed together: cheese stick crackers, pepperoni chips and roasted chickpeas. Might be a good substitution for Chex Mix?
