Karen, I like Bob's Red Mill steel cut oats better than the Quaker, but it could just be that they're what I'm used to.

We picked up Trader Joe's Quick Cook Steel Cut Oats the other day. They cook in 8 minutes, so although that's not exactly quick, it's quicker.

They taste great, but I'm not sure what's been done to them to make them cook more quickly, so when these are gone I'll probably go back to the regular. I've gotten used to fixing them so the cooking time isn't really a big deal anymore.

Edited to add: I got curious, so I went looking and found this:
Quote:
Many consumers wanting to try steel cut oats were put off by the amount of time it takes to prepare a bowl of the good stuff. To cook one cup of steel cut oats it typically takes about twenty-five minutes or longer. That's hard to do in the morning rush but now Trader Joe's is stocking the shelves with Trader Joe's Quick Cook Steel Cut Oats. These whole grain groats have been partially steamed but left intact so that you get all the healthful benefits of the slow cooking steel cut oats and best of all they are ready to enjoy in about eight minutes.
