Hey ladies! Posting from our hotel in Washington, DC. When we arrived yesterday we checked in (Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, VA - got on Priceline for $50 per night), walked up to the Metro and went into the city and took a Trolley Tour just to get our bearings. Then we had dinner at a Brewery in the City and just came back to the hotel and relaxed.

Today it's raining, but we won't melt! We're going to take the Metro back into the city and do the Spy Museum, Smithsonian, and if there are dry spells we'll go to the Lincoln Memorial and the Capital. We want to eat lunch at the Museum of the American Indian, the cafe there is supposed to be great. I've been able to remain OP, although not so able to control the fat intake. I'll post my meals to the OP thread.

Chelby, no, I don't speak Creole, but can figure out "written stuff" kinda ok. I think LA Creole is a little different from Haitian. My family were "city people", so they spoke "formal french". A branch of my family came from Haiti (then San Domigue) after the revolution in the early 1800's. I'm wondering if I have relatives over there now. It's just horrible.

Cyndi, I like just about everything I've tried so far on the wii. I've taken some yoga classes and noticed that the form is not the same, but I enjoy it and it's probably my favorite. I like the step thing too. I'm trying to put together my "program"...but of course I like the games too..but save them till after I've "worked" first.

Good morning everyone,

Just popping in to stay accountable, ate too many grains yesterday and go no workout in either, so watching what I eat today and doing a good workout this afternoon.

I slept in til 8 a.m. wow, so I don't have time for personals I have to go get ready for church

Everyone have a wonderful day and I will try to pop in later.

Good Morning:sunny:

Actually not much :sunny: here yet, but I do see a hint of blue sky.

FoodObsessed, "Sooper Dooper" Sunday to you, too. I'm really glad you feel good about participating more. I have found it to be the most important part of my staying OP for longer than I ever have. :congrat: on a successful P1.

Ruth, I think the doggies notice the increasing light more than we do. Perhaps their sensitive noses smell the signs of spring, too. We look at the calendar and know the other side of the story. Enjoy your Sunday, whatever it brings.

Cat, have a relaxing day-I'm thinking you're still a football widow.

Chelby, yay! for flea markets! I wish we had one closer. PS-no adventures here, but I do have one coming up.

Hello Cottage AKA Latte Woman, glad to hear you're having great results from staying OP. I have some squash that might just turn into dinner, too.

Twynn, great progress in the kitchen. Ours took such a long time, but it wasn't so bad since we don't have kids or full time jobs! I'm going to try your soup one of these days. I seem to have a list of things to try!

Me4Life, hope that headache goes away soon!

Karen, what impressive numbers on your waistline. I'll chat first, then check out your blog.

Cyndi, pass the thumbs up to Julie on such beautiful pictures! Good on you for getting out for that walk! I'll be so glad when the ice and snow and winter storms are a fading memory. I hope the weather is better for gardening this year.

Rikki, I hope work and exercise pass the time quickly and that your sweater dress exchange works out. I would so love to have a sweater dress, but it will be awhile for me-my middle is just so big!

MMC, I think staying OP is a huge success, even when some of the intake isn't...well...what you would normally do. I'm going to ask you about the hotel again when we are able to plan our trip back East.

Pearlrose, Glad you got to sleep in. I ate too many grains yesterday, too, but it was a far better choice than bon bons!

Me, the day took control yesterday, so I really need to get some chores done before church. I started the dishwasher before I sat down to chat. Another :coffee: is in order, then a major pick up. I'm constantly amazed that we can trash the house so quickly! I did take care of some niggles yesterday, and hopefully will cross a few more off the mental list today.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning/almost afternoon beachers. Sounds like everyone is probably well into their day, i'm still trying to wake up and function, i'm not even close to being a morning person. Today I have to make my favorite cake/frosting at my son's request for his birthday cake. I'm still in phase 1 so I will not cheat and I don't feel any temptation will come my way.. it's all good :) Off to do a little shopping :^:

Cottage, Most of the things that come out of Auston's mouth amuses me. Sometimes I laugh when I really shouldn't. :D

Cyndi, After one of the hurricanes that went through Lake Charles, LA, where my parents live, the hummingbirds got thrown off their migration path. Mom said that they are very aggressive, for pretty little things.

Debbie, It's almost embarrassing how fast our house can go from clean to pig sty! I don't know how people with many children do it!

Cat, My great-grandmother spoke only Cajun French. My grandfather was bilingual. My father speaks no French at all. It's a shame! It's very cool that you know your ancestry. I've tried to find genealogy of my Thibodeaux family, but have failed, even though I know names.

Everyone else -- Happy Sunday! :D

Jeff and I went to the flea market. It's raining, so there were only a few vendors. Jeff found beef jerky that was only slightly out of date. I found pretty pears, apples and oranges. Yay!

I'm making a pot of red beans and spicy sausage for dinner. Yum!

tammies00 01-17-2010 11:47 AM

Morning- I slept in till 9:45. Both kids went to spend the night with friends. Ds first real sleepover. He is 8 and never liked sleeping over before. They are both sleeping over at the same house. Dd's friend has a little brother who is friend with ds. Hubby and I went out to dinner. We went to Ruby Tuesday's. I had the petite steak, a lobster tail, mash cauliflower, and snap peas. I don't do broccoli. It is the only veggie other than ruttabeggas that don't like. I looked up the cauliflower when I got home and realized it had cream in it. I couldn't find how they cooked the snap peas and forgot to ask. I did ask about the lobster and they said it was brushed with butter and then served with butter on the side. I didn't use the butter on the side.

Food Great job on completing P1.

Morning Ruth- I can't wait to live near family again.

Cat-What do you teach?

Chelby- Hi fellow Alabamain. I used to live in Jasper and still have family there. Are you close to B'ham? Jasper is about 45 min from B'ham.

Twynn I agree. The wii board gives me one too.

Cyndi my family loved avatar I couldn't go. Stay same in the storm and warm.

Cottage I just emailed my aunt for her squash casserole recipe. I love it and had forgotten aobut it. Thanks for the remainder. If it is SB friendly I will share it on here. I remember it has tomatoes in it.

Thanks for your kind comments and advice. I just got back from Church an hour ago and exercised by dancing. I did say I was going to dance as a form of exercise starting today. And to think I didn't feel like going! The man upstairs obviously sent me a sign that I am on the right path, lol.

femmecreole 01-17-2010 02:28 PM

Tammie, I teach 2nd grade (taught kindergarten for a zillion years and also have taught 1st, 5th and 6th, but 2 is the best one for me!)

Chelby, if you want, this summer lets start on that genealogy stuff...I'll be happy to help.

Chelby29 01-17-2010 02:37 PM

Tammie, I live in Remlap, about 45 minutes NE of B'ham. Blount County. I've been here 14 years. I'm actually a Cajun from SW Louisiana, married to an Alabama Redneck.

Cat, I would love to work on genealogy! I'd even sacrifice and make a trip to New Orleans! :D

tammies00 01-17-2010 02:43 PM

Chelby I grew up in Jasper AL until I was 16 we then moved to Vidalia GA (the onions). Met my hubby many years later who was in the army. Now we are back in Bama cause of the military.

Cat-I used to work in the school system. I worked as a kindergarten aid and secretary. I liked working in the school. thought about being a teacher. My son is in second grade and all I can say is bless your heart. That is a busy age for boys!!! ;)

rdw1 01-17-2010 04:19 PM

The first time I workout in forever and I can't find the January exercise thread anymore? lol, go figure!

I worked out though! about time! I will stick with it too! Just off work and workout- going to try to exchange that dress! catch up with you lovely ladies later!

femmecreole 01-17-2010 04:50 PM

Chelby, you gotta deal, but since your family is from SW, we would HAVE to make a trip to Lafayette to Prejeans to do some "research"!!!

Thibodeaux, huh? Kinda like "Smith" in the rest of the country! Can probably hook you up with some good leads both off and online though. Fr. Hebert has some books that would probably be pretty good. I'm sure some of my Cajun genealogy buddies have copies. Get whatever info you have together and we'll have some fun this summer getting busy with it.

Pearlrose 01-17-2010 05:27 PM

Good afternoon everyone,

Went to church and then target to pick up some stuff and home to work out. Does anyone know where the January exercise thread went to?

My dryer conked out on me again, so instead of paying over 150 to get it fixed again I just bought a new one, it is being delivered on Thursday pretty tight squeeze in the basement path, so I was nice to the delivery guy I moved the old dryer through the tight path and it is waiting to just go out the door on Thursday.

Have a lovely evening everyone
