  • Happy Hump Day!

The weatherman is telling us it's snowing out, but it sure looks dry to me! It's supposed to be a little warmer today, too, but I don't plan to to spend much time outside anyway.

I'm going in early today to help Cindy's MIL put away her Christmas stuff and clean her house. She's the one who's had her shoulder replaced, and she's coming along pretty good now but still can't lift her arm above her elbow. I enjoy helping her out, since we mostly sip tea and chat. She's a very proper Scottish woman and a real sweetheart, and has some fascinating stories to tell about growing up in the Scottish highlands.

I've been having some stellar OP days, and I know planning ahead and knowing exactly what I'm going to be eating has helped immensely. I hope it's not too long before I start noticing the difference in my waistbands. I'm determined that this is the year I'm finally going to make my goal.

It's great to see all the new faces here and also see some of our former Beachers coming back! This plan rocks and really works!
  • Morning, Linda! It sounds like you're going to have a great morning. Great job staying on plan! Keep up the good work!

I have been sticking to plan as well, but woke up to a two pound gain this morning. I hate when that happens. I spent all of yesterday battling the little demon on my shoulder telling me that just one of my grandmother's Christmas cookies wouldn't hurt and that Andes mints are really not so bad and that everyone else was eating brownies with chocolate icing so I should, too. It stinks to get through all of that and then see the number on the scale not reflect your huge will power output. I know why the number when up, though, and there's not much I can do about ovulating, so I'm just going to have to deal with it. Sometimes I really hate being a girl.

We had a really nice night last night. The family all gathered at my grandfather's house and told stories and ate a nice meal together. I stayed completely on plan, despite the evil Andes mints and iced brownies, and felt really proud of myself. Today we're having lunch at my grandparents' and I don't think I'll be able to stay on plan, but I will stay as close as I can.

    Have a good Wednesday, all!
  • 'Morning, Beachies, and Happy Hump Day, the first of 2010.

Kara, the Grandfather Time sounds so nice! Good for you at brushing off that little demon.

Cottage, today sounds beautifully peaceful for a change. Enjoy! How's Jake's cold?

Lately the dogs have been letting me "sleep in" until after six and it's great! I think they are still tired out from the Christmas flurry. Disney doesn't know it yet but she's getting a fur trim this morning so we can see her eyes when we do pet therapy this afternoon. I'm lucky to have non-shedding dogs but their hair just doesn't stop growing. Jazz's eyes are disappearing in his "bangs" too.

I'm pleased to say I've been able to stay OP and keep my ticker from lying. My current goal is set for my trip to Disney mid-March. I'll need less baggage to keep up with my son, DIL and Tayler who will be nine.

    Hope today is whittling!
  • Good morning Actually I'm almost through my morning coffee already and finished 30 minutes on the Wii Fit. That thing has been a really good addition though I was a little unsure when DD gave it to us.

Cottage - funny coincidences - my BF is Scottish and had shoulder surgery a year ago.
Congratulations on staying on plan. You've motivated me to get better with planning ahead. I know you can do it this year if you set your mind to it

Kara - Sounds like the perfect way to remember your Grandfather and some special family time. That weight will shift in its own time and probably with a nice woosh. The scale just likes to make us wait.

Ruth - Nice of the dogs to let you sleep in. for honest tickers

Speaking of tickers I might start acknowledging mine again this weekend. I decided to stay off the scale until the weekend to give myself time to detox and get back to healthy without the numbers taunting me. However the Wii thinks I'm losing so we shall see

Today is my last office day this week. Tomorrow is my up North meeting, though I may do it via phone. In either case I won't be in the office. Weather permitting my neighbor and I are going snow shoeing tomorrow afternoon. Then Friday I'm on treadmill repairman detail. He is coming sometime Friday but we don't know when. I'll go to PT in the morning then hang around until he gets here and do some WFH.

Tonight I'm heading out after work with 2 co-workers. One seriously needs to vent and de-stress so we decided to grab a drink and chat for an hour or so. Glad I got a workout in already so I won't be too far off today.

Hope your Hump Day is shaping up manageable and not too steep
  • Good morning chicks!

Cottage - that sounds nice...the tea and the chat! I have not been as good as you , great job!

Kara - I hear ya on that evil voice! I'm glad you're enjoying your time with family, although I'm sad of why you have to.

Ruth - They look so good with the fresh haircut! Congrats on on plan...everyone has renewed will power with the new year!

Me - Did NOT wanna get up this am for the treadmill. BUt I did, and it went REALLY well. Yahoo!! Tomorrow will be the day off from running (I don't like to do it too many days in a row). If it keeps going like this, I just might make that half marathon this year!!

Today, and a lot in the next couple weeks will probably be pretty bad with the diet given the kitchen remodeling circumstances. My DH (DDDDDH) decided last night he wants another wall down today to save time later...so took out 4 more cabinets last night. Thank goodness we can keep the stove plugged in and for crock pots! I premade some black beans for black beans n rice....mmmmmm.....

Hopefully, the running will ward away poundage!!

    Have a great day chicks!

Simulpost....Cyndi - I'm enjoying the Wii Fit too! I'm hoping that yoga will help the core muscles and stay a bit stronger. That little voice of the board is annoying though!!!
  • Good Morning

Cottage, thanks for getting us started! It's warm here, too, although they keep saying COLDER.....Great job with your stellar OP days! I'm on with you for getting to goal in 2010-my first one, anyway. SBD does rock! Have a great day!

Kara, it's really nice to see you this morning-only now you feel like the next door neighbor. Take care today and thanks for taking the time to keep in touch!

Ruth, great job, too, staying OP. I bought a trimmer for Bing and I don't know about him, but I'm really enjoying it. I'm able to keep his bangs trimmed at home and it seems to keep his eyes feeling better. Kirk wants me to do his hair to save money but I figure thats . Have a great day!

Hi Cyndi I'm really interested in your Wii updates. I may PM you one of these days to get the specifics. I'm interested and my Costco CCard cycles out midmonth thus extending my $$ time a month. Have a great day I'd better hustle!

ETA-Hi Twynn. We were posting at the same time. Have a great day!

I've been up awhile knitting, but need to get in gear. I'm leaving at 615 to take the bus to a land aerobics class so Kirk can use the car to go to the weight room at 9. Pool is closed for maintenance today. Then I'm meeting my lady bouncers for breakfast-easy to stay OP. I'll take the bus home and have lots of exercise in. I'll be back later to knit and chat.
  • I just took another bag out for the trash pick-up and we've had enough snow in just the past hour to cover the ground. It's looking like it's stopped now, though.

Kara, the scale and I don't get along at all. They lie! Good for you for fighting off the demon last night, and be strong today! You can do it.

Ruth, Jake's cold seems to be gone, thank goodness. I don't think it ever got as bad as he expected it to be, LOL! I hope Disney sits still while she's getting all prettied up. I can picture her and Jazz's cute little faces still.
  • This is my 5th day on the Beach and I feel good. I haven't had to fight my inner demons too much.
  • Good morning chicks. Today should be pretty quiet, so looking forward to continuing my productive week. Panic really gets my buttt moving! I ordered some new exercise videos on Cyndi's urging, and I hope they come today so I can try one out. I've sworn off the scale this year, but I'm looking forward to getting back into my pants comfortably. The kids bamboozled me into doing Adopt-a-pony, so I'll have to get them out to the farm after school to attend to their ponies.

Twynn, kitchen reno makes food rough. Good luck to you!
Cyndi, busy, busy, busy! Sounds like you have a nicely balanced week with work, me time, exercise, and chores. That's the way to do it! I'll make a note...
cottage, I agree with Ruth about shaking your Cindy. I hope she realizes you are a treasure and I hope your today is enjoyable! Sounds like you are getting a great start to the New Year by rockin' the plan.
Kara, enjoy your family time. How long are you all staying?
Ruth, We'll be at Disney World in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping for some warm and sunny weather, but it's not looking likely right now! Oh well, it will be better than here for sure. March is a great time to go - you'll have the Flower and Garden festival to enjoy.

Hey, if anyone sees a great deal on plane tickets to Europe this summer, please let me know - I need to buy five, so I'm looking for a decent price, and right now I'm not seeing anything.
Have a great hump day all.
  • My goodness, a lot of us were simulposting!

Cyndi, I'm glad the wii is working out so well for you. Today is my "Thursday", and I'm loving my 4 day weeks. It sounds like you have some fun plans for the next several days, and I hope the girl-time with your friend tonight cheers her up.

Twynn, congratulations on getting up and getting to the gym this morning! I bet your kitchen is going to look great once it's all finished and be worth all the inconvenience in the meantime.

Debbie, your day sounds like fun. I enjoy riding the bus, I like to leave the driving to someone else for a nice change. You've perked my interest in taking up knitting or crocheting again during the winter months. It sounds so peaceful and cozy.

Good morning, Schmoodle! I'll keep my ears and eyes open for some good flight deals for you. Do you belong to AAA? They often offer some pretty reasonable packages.
  • Good morning ladies. School was canceled here today (and I appreciate that it was announced last night, even if I couldn't sleep late.) I hope my cycling class at the gym does not follow suit. Snow is not supposed to start until late morning so I plan to workout then grocery shop for the next several days. Meals all planned

I have a suggestion - but am not really sure what it is! Since there are so many of us newbies on here and you gals already know each other so well, maybe you could take the time for a New Year reintroduction of yourselves? Or even adding a link to your bio, which I have seen someone do, would help. But as Ruthxxx posted previously, that format doesn't seem to really let us know you very well or easily. I know this is asking a lot for those of you who have been hanging out together so long, but anything would be a help for us newbies to get to know you. Not sure if it would be part of the daily chat or a new thread. I am really thinking about those of you who are so faithfully posting each day.

    Other ideas?
  • Hi all. Once again no time for individuals (and I so like doing the rainbow of colors!). I had some unsuspected (to me anyway) oral work done and was pretty much out of it all day. I was numb (7 shots of Novocain) until 10p.

I am proud, however, that I did not stray despite my lack of being able to eat! I asked DW to pick up yogurt and I have vegetarian beans with some cheese on them for lunch/dinner. I can barely eat still but yogurt and a V8 might be it for me for the next few meals!

    Have a good day chickies.

    Kara:
  • How about we "old" Beachers grab our BIOs from the 2009 BIO thread and revamp? You can either leave the results in the old thread for me to move or post directly in the new thread.

I'll go first......when I get my next coffee.
  • The bus only runs on the hour until 7 so DH is giving me a ride in.

Food Obsessed, glad you popped in this AM. Great job staying OP. You can do this, and I think checking in everyday really helps!

Schmoodle, isn't it great how we all help motivate each other. Adopt a pony-Wow-thats a new one for me but definitely sounds great for the kids.

WaistingTime, a free day hope the gym is open. Gothik Butterfly helped me get the beacher bio link on my sig (I'll post instructions) and I think Ruthie is working on getting us all updated. Lots of things get easier, too, when your sig and ability to PM kicks in. For me, getting to know everyone has been a KEY to my continued success on SBD. Have a great day!

    Ok, off to exercise!
  • Oh, Ruth, a trip to Disney sounds like such fun! Have a good time with the pups today.

Cyndi, thanks for the sympathy. That scale is an exercise in patience, isn't it? Have fun with your friend this evening!

Tammy, I'm glad you had a good run this morning. Good luck with your creative meal planning!

Debbie, I always used to do Tom's hair cuts when he was in the Honor Guard. They had to have their hair just so - escorting the President and all that jazz - and we just didn't have enough money for him to go to the barber shop three times a week. Now he shaves his head, so it's much easier for him to do himself!

Linda, thanks for the will power! I will need it at my grandparents' house! My grandmother is a stellar cook!

FoodObsessed, glad those demons are quieting down! They are evil, evil, evil. Be gone, demons!!!

Schmoodle, are you coming to visit me??? I have heard February is a good time to fly. In all seriousness, if you're going to be in our area, let me know! We'd love to see you! To answer your question, we'll be here until early next week probably.

WaistingTime, good job with the meal planning! I like your suggestion for reintroductions.

Jenn, thanks for the hugs. I'm glad your dental work is over and done with. Hope you recover quickly!
