The "On Plan" Thread for the week of 11/9/2009
It's time for a new week of talking On-Plan!
Anyone, from any phase (1, 1.5, 2, 3, etc.) can post, and those who are new to 3FC are especially encouraged to do so! This thread is for questions, sharing advice and strategies, and encouraging each other to stay on plan. It is not for chatting about daily life unrelated to this topic. Members have indicated that they would like to have chatting remain in the Daily Thread, so any posts that are off topic or chatty will be moved by the mods to the Daily. Because people from different parts of the plan are posting here, it'll help everyone if you indicate what phase you're in when you post. Thanks! While you may certainly find, from time to time, the need to ask for help after going off plan, remember that this thread is about staying on plan. When you share details of off plan foods you've eaten, it can upset, tempt, and otherwise frustrate other members, so please keep these details to a minimum. So, share with us: How are you staying on plan this week? |
I'm staying OP this week by starting this thread because it's really helpful for me.
Temptations is what I'm thinking about as we get closer to the holidays. I just left Costco and all sorts of new goodies are showing up. Absolutely irresistable foods kept popping into my vision as I scanned the aisles for the items I'd come in for. I've started using a new technique which came from my Yoga classes. I turn my head the other way and "breathe"... Then focus on something else. Other than that, I'm staying pretty focused right now. As I get further into P2, it seems to get a bit easier to just think that one bite of something is OK. This week, anyway, I'm committing to not "one biting" anything off plan. I don't have any cravings right now and I'm satisfied with my meals so why tempt fate. I'm back to the unfun side of the divide and will continue to focus on exercise. Have a great OP week everyone. |
The "On Plan" Thread for the Week of 11/9/09
Hi, everyone! Here's to another OP week! :hat: <--that's dry red wine. ;)
Thanks for starting us up, Lexiss! I had a hard time getting a new thread started...had to try three times, for some reason! I didn't plan well on Saturday and ended up hungry and eating popcorn at a bar. :( Otherwise, the weekend went well, though. I'm looking forward to another OP week! How about you? |
Back OP after a bad weekend. Ate too much and drank too much alcohol Saturday night, then felt sick all day yesterday. Feel much better today after restarting.
B: Cinnamon omelet & V8 S: RF cheese stick L: Large assorted veggie salad with deli turkey and LF dressing S: Greek yogurt & Honeycrisp apple, Skinny latte D: Chili with ground lean turkey & lots of beans S: Almonds |
Yup, Laurie, I'm definitely looking forward to another On Plan week. :)
Debbie, thank you for starting this OP thread. It's a real encouragement for me. I have a junk food filled week ahead this week - one celebration after another and they're things I really must attend. I'll be bringing my own on plan snacks and I expect to make good choices, but to tell you the truth I'll be really glad when Saturday gets here. On a brighter note, I've found a walking partner. :D My friend Rita and I are going to walk after school several days a week starting tomorrow. We'll walk outside now and move to walking the long hallways on days when the weather is bad. I'm really pleased about this. My foot is still so sore, I'm thinking that I'll feel more like walking when I don't have to go alone, and since we'll chat as we walk I'm hoping that will be a distraction. lol |
I thought this tip from RealAge was interesting and SB compatible.

I try to remember a glass of V8 mid-morning. |
I'm going to try a few days of P1 because my weight is just creeping up for no obvious reason. Friday I'm heading to my parents and would like to be back to eating fruit so that gives me three days of P1.
B-refried beans, salsa, spinach S - ff cottage cheese L - split pea soup with cabbage S - salad D - leftovers of some kind, maybe veggie chili loaded with vegetables Exercise will be a walk or two for 60 minutes total |

I'm down another 2 pounds this morning so feeling very motivated to stay on plan! :) In my past experiences the first 20 always come off pretty fast for me but then things s-l-o-w way down no matter how faithful I am. Mmm, your salad sounds good, Twynn! Love Meal 3, KO. How'd it turn out?
So far, so good this week. Unfortunately, the scale didn't budge, and it was up a pound last week. What a great idea to plan each meal for your entire day. I bet that is extremely helpful in aiding the weight loss.
I started phase 1 today.... Very excited... I have a question even though I already posted it on the board I'll ask it here since it is where it really belongs. Is Salsa....as long as there is no added sugar in the ingredients okay for a phase 1'er. ? Thanks for the help! |
Staying on Phase 1.5 to combat my indiscretions of last week.
B: Veggie omelet & V8 S: LF cheese stick L: Huge salad with salmon & SB dressing, greek yogurt and prunes S: Skinny Hazelnut latte D: Chicken Parmesan with pepper, mushrooms & onions, Mocha Ricotta Creme with a little almond butter |
Did great yesterday, day I phase I. Today should be easier, since I'm at work all day!

My favorite!! D: spagetti (with added zucchini and yellow squash) over spaghetti squash |
Another busy day, sorry I didn't get here before school. I logged in but walked away from the computer and got busy doing other things. :p
No time to walk after school today, so I need to hit the treadmill or at least do some stretching and pilates this evening. B: V-8 and cheese sticks S: Yogurt L: Chili and a cucumber salad D: Chili, choc milkshake, salad I'll probably have a SF Root beer or SF popsicle while I'm reading later on. |
It's been a whirlwind week! I can't believe it's already Friday. I did great OP until last night. I've had alot of emotional events lately. I stayed OP but only by going to bed extremely early-it worked though. I kept my hand out of the proverbial cookie jar and woke up this morning refreshed and remotivated.
As to exercise, I think this new cardio circuit class I'm doing is really beneficial-even if it is for Sr Citizens. It's a good pace with lots of cross training and even though the pounds come off slowly, I am really seeing new sags in my clothes. Thanks for being here everyone! PS-Anne, thanks for the article. I think I'll tweak my salad dressing to include safflower oil. It couldn't hurt! |
Good morning!
That's good to hear Debbie - I'm glad you're enjoying your cardio circuit class. I'm planning to join our Health Center after the holidays when the rates go down. I've got a feeling ANY class they offer is going to be challenging for me. :p I'm determined to stay OP today even though I'm taking a few of the teen girls out for chinese after church. They've got a steamed chicken and vegetables dish that I'll order. It's pretty bland but it will keep my mouth busy. lol B: V8, oatmeal, SF hot cocoa L: steamed chicken and vegetables S: cucumber and hommus D: Chili and a green salad S: Fruit smoothie (And sometime today I am going to try an Italian creme soda.) I used the treadmill in 2 shorter sessions yesterday and my foot is feeling pretty good this morning. I guess that will be my pattern for a while. It's not so great for burning fat but it's better than limping around all day. ;) |
Good Morning:sunny:
I had a great OP day yesterday. I made a great pinto bean stew which worked for both lunch and dinner. I have one of Kalyn's Egg Casseroles in the oven which will probably cover several meals, as well. I find the egg casserole is a great way to get lots of extra veggies in. Heidi, I'm wondering if you've ever tried one? I use lots of veggies which means not so much egg. My exercise has been lacking these past few days. If I could just get some pool time in today, then tomorrow starts my week with classes scheduled in. |
I think I'll head over to Kalynn's blog and check out the recipe. Thanks for suggesting it. :)
Hmmm.... I'm having a little bit of trouble finding it. Is this it? Baked Eggs with Summer Vegetables & Capers |
Heidi
Here's the link http://kalynskitchen.blogspot.com/20...swho-knew.html This morning I added cauliflower, zucchini, onions, garlic, green chilies, mushrooms, turkey sausage and RF mozzerella cheese. I don't go to any lengths to precook any vegies. I just coat the pan w/spray, toss in all the ingredients, top with cheese and then add the egg. |
Oh, I had the wrong one. Thank you! :)
I think I've got everything I need in the house to make that right now. Might be a nice change, I'll see if my DH is up for it..... |
