Hi:sunny:

Just checking in. Thanks for sharing your Saturday with me. We had a nice walk this morning, almost 3 miles. Got invited to our friends house for coffee and apple picking. I spent several hours working on my SB freezer, then out for errands. DH invited the neighbor kids over and being the kind soul that I am  we made an apple pie for their family and a apple bread pudding (SB friendly) for us. Actually, they're great kids and we had fun. See ya'll tomorrow.

Funny Auston story: Since he was 4 months old, we've driven the very uncool minivan. The back windows don't roll down. Now, we are in the Tahoe. Auston loves his window. Tonight, we are on our way home from dinner. Auston rolls down the window. I hear, "Hey. Whacha doin'?" He's FLIRTING with the high school girl in the next car. He's a 5-year-old PLAYER! Jeff and I laughed till tears rolled down our cheeks!

Too funny, Chelby. I'll bet the girls thought he was very sweet!

Good morning Sleepyheads :coffee2: :) The coffee is hot, water is on for tea and the day awaits. What's on your agenda?

It's wet and cool here so it will be an indoor chore day. Perfect weather because there is no temptation to go outside and play. I've got lots of dehydrating to do along with laundry, applesauce (maybe apple butter) making and enough cleaning and organizing to keep me busy all week. It's my last 4 day work week (well not really because I'm going to visit the folks Columbus Day weekend, but last one on the books!) so have to plan more efficiency in.

It was nice to have a couple of days play time to start the weekend. Yesterday's visit to the banding station was really interesting. Learned a lot about close up ID and migration patterns. I released one of the birds, which I always love. Lots of walking too, so I'm feeling pretty good about where I am health-wise.

Deanna - We saw a lark sparrow, a new bird for us.

Interesting NSV last week. I had an appt. with my Dr. to talk about a few things. She ended up using half the scheduled time to pick my brain about health and weight loss. I guess she has lots of patients asking about bariatric surgery and she wanted to know what worked for me and why. After our conversation she said I should be a life coach. Of course she didn't actually offer me a job there ;) It's interesting because I mentioned it with friends that night who agreed with her assessment (of course there was wine). I've been thinking seriously about going back to school for a degree in Nutrition Ed. This might add a little energy to that to balance out the fear of going back to school at 48!

Time to get things moving around here. Have a good day whatever your plans. Hope they include a little time to just relax and enjoy life :)

Good Morning:sunny: Happy Sunday Everyone!

Hi Cyndi, you probably already know I wasn't sleeping. Just occupied. Glad to hear you're putting your dreary day to good use. You'll be well prepared for your busy week. I read your post to DH this morning. He's really interested in your birding stories. I think you would make a great life coach. I have a friend who has received much loving guidance and your nutritional knowledge would be such an asset. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

We had a great day with the neighbor kids yesterday and have decided to take them to the pool after harvesting the pumpkins. There are so many things they have never done (due to family stress and lack of $$). We're going to try to start incorporating them into some of the fun things we do.

Cat, thanks for sharing your touching story yesterday. I hope your cupboard is SB stocked and your DH is feeling better.

Gothik, I'm looking forward to the Kareoke report:lol: Hope your evening lived up to your expectations and you have ample time to recover today.

Chelby, how was WalMart? I'll bet you and Auston make a great team cruising around in the Tahoe. Have a great day.

Twynn, hope you have a day filled with fun things. Your spay clinic is so important but must be exhausting.

Deanna, how was your day? I, too, have mixed feelings about the circus (and zoos) but I think they are more ethical than they used to be.

Pearlrose, sorry your team lost but it sounds like everyone had fun. Our HS team was small and played the bigger Denver schools. I went to a game several years ago and they lost 70+ to 0. Last game for me!

Ruth, Cottage, Beachgal, when are you coming home? I miss you.

Ok, have fun everyone, I'm going to see if I can spiff up my office. Mom is coming tomorrow.

Good morning,

Cyndi sounds like you had fun Bird watching this weekend. You have lots on the agenda for today may you accomplish everything you have set out for yourself. That is a great idea of you being a life coach.

As for me - yesterday was a whirlwind but we got everything done and then last night relaxed at home after homecoming coronation. I shared DH pics on FB. Today not sure what is the agenda, need to get some house cleaning done but fit in some yesterday. Not sure if we are going to make it to church today.

Have a great day everyone

ETA Debbie I think we were posting at the same time- I think that is great what you are doing for those kids they will remember all the fun times when they are adults. Have a great day.

good afternoon everyone! I'm draggin my butt out of bed quite late today... been up about an hour.

Yesterday was loads of fun and my roommates got engaged at karaoke last night so EPIC WIN!

On a sad note, I seem to have lost my voice. If you find it, please spank it and send it back to me promptly. I was none too happy to have my voice go out in the middle of my first solo last night. I had to hang up the karaoke singin for the night. FAIL.

Today is lounge around the house and tonight is geek-out. We have some friends coming over to play Magic the Gathering. We had jello shots left over from the parade yesterday so they will be in attendance tonight as well. WIN!

I spent too much money at Oktoberfest and now cannot officially start SB tomorrow.. I will have to wait until Wednesday. EPIC FAIL.

However, this has been my favorite Oktoberfest so far. So I guess overall, the weekend has been a WIN!

Back to my coffee....

Happy weekend! We are close to home now. I'm in the hotel in Syracuse. I decided to stay tonight rather than face a 2.5 hour drive in rain with the usual Sunday line-up at the border followed by a drive home to a cold dark house. I'll be back home before noon tomorrow after a few days of fun and mental refreshment. See y'all then. :)

cottagebythesea 09-27-2009 09:30 PM

I'm happy you made it Syracuse safely, Ruth.

After several flight delays due to the weather, I'm finally home all safe and sound, too. It was a great weekend, but it's good to be home. :)
