Default Soft Foods in P1 and 2 (New Braces)

So I had an orthodontist appointment recently and apparently in a lil bit soup and the like will be my best friend! I am having a surgery on my jaw AND getting braces not long after....from what I understand chewing is going to be lethal and i will probably just want to do away with having to do it all lol. Alot of my friend with braces say you lose weight the first couple weeks...add ph1 eats and im hoping for doubletime results for bout 2-3 weeks lol

Any Suggestions on some soups...canned or easy lol

Check out the recipe section. There are lots of Phase I soups and I'm sure the chickies will be in with soft food suggestions.

TRW, I'd caution you against doing Phase 1 if you can't eat solid foods. Most of the foods in Phase 1, such as lean protein and vegetables, are very fibrous and require a lot of chewing. It's possible--you could do pureed veggies, smoothies made with yogurt and tofu, refried beans with cheese, etc., but it wouldn't be too easy (or very delicious!).

There aren't many canned soups that are SBD-safe--you can try Progresso's lentil (or another company, if the ingredients work) or a black bean soup, if the ingredients work. There are tons of great Phase 1 soups, though most of the ones I've made have a lot of veggies you need to chew in them. You might want to look for ones you can puree so they'll be smoother.

thank you both!! I was going to purposely go back on PH1...lol...just to shake things up....I'll be technically "done" with PH1 by the time my mouth is caged...any PH2 favorites that need minimal to no chewing??

Hi, TRW, I changed the thread title in hopes that you'd get more ideas.

I think smoothies would be easy in P2. I make mine at home with:
  • FF plain yogurt
  • frozen, no sugar added (NSA) fruit (if you use frozen fruit, there's no ice to melt and make your smoothie watery)
  • protein powder (mine's made with stevia--make sure yours is free of sugar)
  • a little psyllium husk (it makes it thick and makes me feel REALLY full)
  • a little SF syrup to sweeten, if necessary
  • skim milk to think, as needed

I throw it all in the blender and, voila! a complete meal in a cup!

Other soft food options:
  • oatmeal (make it from scratch, or try the crock pot steel cut oats recipe in the forum)
  • refried beans with cheese and salsa
  • cottage cheese with NSA applesauce

I'm sure the Beachies will come up with other suggestions.
