  • Good Monday morning! I can see Monday in a whole new light since I'm off all week.

We're expecting heavy rain and t-storms all day, but so far it's dry. I'm expecting a truck load of mulch to be delivered early this morning, and I'm hoping they get here before the rain starts! I have tarps and bricks ready to put over the pile to help keep it dry until I can get to it. It's my dad's birthday today, too, so I want to stop in for a visit before they go to the casino for the day. And I'll probably get started stripping the wallpaper in our bedroom this afternoon.

Come and join me for a nice leisurely cup of coffee before starting your day.
  • Sheesh, Cottage, I thought this was your week OFF? You sure sound like today will be busy. Hug your Dad for me and wish him

We are a bit drizzly but there's no white stuff. Our temps are going to be below freezing in the mornings which will keep me from leaping into gardening too early. Next week my landscape guy and crew come to do the cleanup so I'll hold off until then. A friend came over and patched up all Jazz's potential escape routes so I can now just ignore the outdoors for a while.

This morning Jazz gets his haircut finished and I go to Victoria's Quilts for the morning with another quilt top to be pinned for machine quilting. This afternoon I drop off the Daffy DOugh and then go to my doc for a knee check. They have both been bothering me and I can't get to my specialist until August 25! Maybe Dr. Jack can do the thumb in the bum thing with his fellow physician.

So a new week and more control over my life. I can't believe Easter is next weekend. I have my dear friend Shirleyanne coming for a birthday/Easter lunch on Saturday and need to firm up my son and family for Easter Dinner. He hates ham and I have a turkey waiting in the freezer.

Wishing you sinshine and spring peepers -meant sunshine but that works too, especially with peepers.
  • morning all i came home yesterday to find we have kittens...4 of them to be exact. also, i'm only awake cause of these hiccups..ugg.

cottage-mornning hope the rain holds off for ya

    ruth-hope the haircut goes smoothly

  • Cottage, Sounds like you have some fun projects for your week off. Our spring break is next week. I've taken off work Wed-Fri since my family is coming from Louisiana. WooHoo!!!

Ruth, I hope you got great pictures of Jazz with half a haircut. I bet you laughed every time you looked at him.

Me: I bought 3 new spring outfits for my new job and we are visiting winter again. Possible flurries tonight! What's that about??? Guess I have a few more days of jeans. Luckily, they aren't too strict with the dress code.

I made a pot of chili for lunches this week. I bought bags of dried beans -- probably 10 bags -- and I realized I don't know what do do with most of them. I'm actually looking for non-soup ideas since we are supposed to be in spring. What about bean salads? Any ideas?

You all have a great day!

ETA: Hi Me4. I love kittens!
  • Morning all...cold weather, rain, kitties...whatta way to start the week!! You all sound busy!!

Very windy here...high gusts and cold. It's supposed to get in the 30's tonight....I thought I lived in S. Louisiana! Guess I have to cover all of my new sprouted 4 o'clocks so they don't freeze.
I'm off to school and wishing everyone a great day....stay warm and dry...like the mulch!
  • Good morning

Me : awwwwwww, this is how I end up with cats. They are so darned cute when they're little

Cottage - early even on your week off! the rain holds off. have a lovely first day of vacation

Ruth - Sounds like a much needed slightly quieter week (as quiet as it gets for you ) Hope your doc can get you in to that specialist soon. Achy knees are not helpful in garden season.

Chelby - I've been surfing the salad recipes above and found some I'm going to try. Don't you love relaxed dress codes? Our old boss hated jeans but our new one wears them herself. Jeans are the perfect Monday clothing - they go with everything and don't need to be ironed.

Office day for me today then yoga tonight. Time to get a move on. Have a good, dry day Chicks

    ETA - Hi Cat
  • It's frassing SNOWING! Grrrr! I have an appointment tomorrow morning to get my snow tires OFF.
  • Me, speaking of kitties, mine is getting fixed this morning, lol
And at local vets around here it costs around $460 for a cat to get fixed which is rediculous.
  • Morning!
Our weather is Ark-worthy and I'm a Flaming ouchie!!
Cottage Enjoy your busy week off
    Ruth WTH Snow? IT"S APRIL!!
M4 Aww that pic made my day
Chelb so great that you have fam coming to visit
    Cat Enjoy School
Cyn I don't think anyone can resist Kittens!
Jelly fixing is so expensive! we had a discount coupon and it was still 400 for a boy!
Long day at work today I just want to go home and ahve kitty time and tea!
  • Day 5 of the job, and Auston's school calls. Auston has a rash everywhere! Looks like Fifths Disease. He's NEVER sick! Jeff is in South Alabama working. Pops is off galavanting and I can't find him. MIL has a doctor's appointment today. Luckily, we have the Disney Channel here.

BTW -- I paid $100 to have our female bloodhound fixed about 3 months ago.
  • The rain drove me inside. My mulch was delivered just as I was finishing my post this morning, and I got most of the front yard finished. I would have gotten a lot more done, but I took a coffee cake over to Mom & Dad's and had coffee with them. They're more important to me than getting the mulch spread.

Now Jake is home, so I'll be back later.
  • Cottage, you kill me! When do you relax? I need to order our mulch--but I just heard we're due for snow for the next two days. Ack! It's definitely spring here, but the weather isn't cooperating... I can't believe you almost finished your mulching! It takes DH and I days of working together to get it done.

Ruth, hope your knees feel better very soon and that Dr. Jack has a nimble thumb.

Jelly, bless you, over and over, for fixing your kitty. All the kitties in the shelter (who have more chances at finding homes since your kitty won't be having babies) thank you, too!

Bless you too, Chelby and KO, for fixing your dogs.

Me4, your kitties are darling. Baby animals are so cute! Are you having your cat fixed now that the kitties are out? I was shocked to learn that it's far more expensive (and more intense for the animal) to get them fixed after a pregnancy than to do it before.

    Me:
Looks like I've finally caught one of the many colds going around. I'm tired but grateful that it's break week so I have shortened hours. I'm still planning on a gym visit since I don't have a fever. DH and I had a really nice visit upstate--I didn't get sick until Sunday morning, thankfully.

Hope you all have a great rest of your day and stay away from the evil s-word!
  • beachgal, I've delt with unfixed females and males and had over 10+ of them because they reproduced. Unfortunately some we had got sick, and taken to the vet only to pay dearly and they died anyway. So ya, we realized that they are more healthy and less likely to get sick once they are fixed, but we cannot afford to fix them all at the same time, so my dad is budgeting for once every other month for one of our cats to get fixed. I don't get why vets get so *****y about people having alot of animals, if they are getting fed and not malnourished they shouldn't say a thing about it since all the ones they take away from people end up in shelters where there is no room or they run out of room and end up put to sleep (even if they are healthy).. now that is uncalled for in my eyes. That's why I don't get why they have laws against too many animals in one home. We do what we do to keep them healthy, but when it comes to vets nobody can really afford it anymore.
  • Jelly- you should check with your local shelter/rescue programs... many here have assistance programs for spaying/neutering.
I think thats the main reason people get *****y about it, because there are too many poor animals without homes and there are lots more animals reproducing and that leads to them being put down... healthy or not.

Not lots going on here- speaking of vets though, time to get more frontline and heartgard- pets are not cheap. Next month is vaccine month for our boys and we always try to plan ahead for that!

We were expecting some snow today but looks like it will just be drizzling- which is just fine with me... I am not really in the mood for snow-or this cold weather we have today- spring, where did you go?@!
  • I got the approval from the city to use the park for Twilight Camp so I ran up to the rec center at lunch to sign the contract. I'm trying to get as much done before my meeting with the District Health and Safety chair tomorrow night as I can. I'm not sure if I'll get a copy of Don's archery certification card by then but if I can get Dotty's that will be okay.

I'm meeting Don and his friend up at the bar this afternoon before I pick up Brian. Tonight is scout night so I can't stay long since I have to fix dinner and have time to eat beforehand.
