Oh, I believe it, Steen! I would LOVE an undermount sink. I hate how gross the edges of ours get. (it's also white plastic. I love white, but what in :censored: was the previous owner thinking???)

I'm leaning towards Corian, but some people have told me that if it gets burnt or stained, it's not very easy to buff it out. Crazily enough, cement seems like a good idea! I'd love stone or granite, but it's SOOOO expensive. And I read some very scary things about them using granite that has radioactive qualities and releases stuff that makes you sick (can you tell I'm not a science person? ). There's lots of safe granite, but apparently some viens of granite and marble are not safe, so you need to have it tested before you install. Yikes! I wish you TONS of joy in washing dishes and just gazing at your new space! What color did you go with? We'd like the dark blue Corian, but DH likes the one with less specks and I like the one with more.

Kim, I'm so glad the fires are contained and no one (or thing) was hurt. Scary! I wish you luck in deciding on the Sunday School position. I think you'd be GREAT at it! As for the laminate--let's just say I spend a lot of time introducing my counters to the Magic Eraser. ;)

Loved the Peep show--thanks rdw! That's one of my favorites.

Stacy (or was it Chelby?), it took me forever to figure out what you were saying in yesterday's thread about your numb face, but when I got it, I laughed and laughed! I love Bill Cosby. I grew up watching the Cosby Show and hearing my dad quote lines from his routines. "Dad is great! He gives us chocolate cake!" was one of my favorites, too! I love the names Cosby's mom supposedly gave them and "Noah" is just too classic for words! I was blessed to get to see Bill in person at our local theater. We had seats in nearly the last row, but it's a very small space, so it felt like we were nearly in his lap. I was in awe the whole time...when I wasn't laughing like crazy, that is. He's awesome!

Hello all,

sounds like everyone is enjoying their day today.

Steen- how exciting, I am excited that for you.

I am looking forward to seeing the flowers come up as well. I don't have a green thumb but also enjoying seeing.

have a great day ladies

Stacy, just wait until I post the summer degrees. We get highs of 115-120. Needless to say, I don't do much during the days in the summer. Even the nights are hot, still in the 90s usually.

Steen 03-05-2009 01:35 PM

Laurie - It's true you can't put hot stuff on the counter, but when they cut out the holes for our sink, they just make us cutting boards from the piece that's cut away. Then I'm just gonna put one on either side of my stove. As for scratches though, they can be sanded right out. That's what I love is the durability.

We went with the colour Silt, which has small specks. Because we bought damaged sheets for really cheap, we didn't have much choice. Luckily, it goes very well with my kitchen.:)

Afternoon, ladies. Quick check-in for me. Both boys are asleep, so it is finally quiet.

I've been cleaning all morning. DS1 has been playing cars all over the house and I've had DS2 in a sling. I only have the floors left, but I need to vacuum and I'm going to save that until both of the boys are awake. No need to wake them up.

DH is going to be home for lunch soon and then we're meeting his mother for dinner and probably some shopping of some sort. I just go along for the ride.

Back to de-cluttering!

Laurie, I have a good friend who installs cement counter tops for a living. I am not a good candidate for them because I cook lots. Common things can destroy them -- red koolaid, splashes of oil -- even if they are sealed well. I'm too messy of a cook.

I have white countertops, too. HATE them! They will be replaced someday...

zeffryn 03-05-2009 01:49 PM

My aunt installed a cement countertop and it was ruined within 6 months. She should have done more research :)

I think she has granite now.

Good afternoon. I wish I had more time to pop in here but with three boys it is not always easy.

Zeff- I understand about needing to follow the boys around the house. I swear I could follow them around all day and the house would still not be clean!:D

Steen _ YAY for the kitchen counters. I can not wait until I have the money to redo my kitchen. . .it drives me insane!

I am doing okay. It has been a rough week but I have still managed to keep the weight off. I need to sit down tonight and reevaluate my plan and get back on the bandwagon full force. Tomorrow is my 36th birthday and my new long term goal is to be at or close to my goal by my 37th birthday. 70 lbs in one year. . .I should be able to do it.

ThoughtfulOne 03-05-2009 02:37 PM

Kristine: Happy early birthday to you!! :celebrate:

Happy Thursday. DS stayed home sick today. He seems better, but still running a fever.
It is nice here today, close to 50*. Instead of going to the gym, I went for a walk/run outdoors. It was a nice change!
Thinking about what to make for dinner.... hmm....

BTW - I LOVE PEEPS! I agree, they are better stale! :-)

Bill Cosby is in my opinion one of THE best comedians ever. hes clean. im not above swearing but sometimes you just wanna hear something clean thats not about sex, butts, boobs, or dingdongs lol... Bill tells stories that we can all appreciate. the go cart one with the baby buggy wheels is so funny, im sitting here with tears in my eyes just remembering it. you hear the one where him and old wierd harold went to the movie house to watch the scarey monster movie?? they had to walk home across the scarey bridge or something, old weird harold ran up one side and down the other of bill trying to get away ohhhhh man, hes just plain funny!! i gotta dig them out and find a record player! lol

I tell my parents and my inlaws on a regular basis that they are "Old people trying to get into heaven." They certainly aren't the same humans who raised my husband and me. "Come here, Auston. How about an ice cream sandwich for lunch?" Sheesh!

CyndiM 03-05-2009 07:18 PM

I just had to share my yummy, easy South Beachy dinner, because with a little creativity you can have anything on SBD! We had leftover chili and I really wanted chili cheese nachos. I got the ww tortilla and turned it into chips then topped it with all the usual yummy stuff (chili, rf cheese, jalapenos, tomatos, salsa...). No one would believe the things I eat "on a diet"!

Schmoodle 03-05-2009 07:57 PM

Hi chicks, it's been a long day, just thought I'd pop in and say hello. I had meetings all day, and 5 hours on the road. Plus I'm not feeling great. It was the weirdest thing, it just hit me out of nowhere yesterday afternoon, my inner ears and throat started hurting, and I started running a fever. I fed the kids and was in bed by 8, feel a little better today. No fair, since I just got over that stinking cold.
I was starving when I got home, but didn't want to cook so we scavenged. I had ww breadsticks with hummus and Swiss cheese and a NSA pudding cup. No veggies in there, but I would have to COOK them and I am not COOKING anything. Except perhaps a cup of tea. My stomach is off anyway and I really don't want them.

My friend's surgery went well yesterday. They removed the kidney and her spleen and didn't find any additional tumors, just the one they had seen on the scans.

Oh, and I loooove peeps. They are great when they are very fresh and soft, but really good stale too. In the old days I could easily put away an entire 12 pack in the car on the way home from the store. Haven't had them in a couple of years, they would probably make me yak now. Even then I remember thinking they were uber-sweet.

I am planning on early bed again tonight. Have a good one and see you in the morning.
