Good Sunday morning!
Glorious sunrise happening here and it's going to be another sparkly day. :sunny:The thaw left us lots of snow and ice but it sure did melt things down. A month from now, I hope we're into another melt. Went to the Church supper last night with my "lads" who bought me a rose! They gave each other chocolate so that was a narrow escape. I managed OK with the first course but did have a piece of pecan pie - my very favourite. Dr A does say we can celebrate on special occasions, right? V-Day has to be on the special list! No scale damage this morning. Off to Church at 8:30 and then Disney goes to her "fur stylist" to be beautified. This afternoon I need to go to the Cathedral in Kingston for a service to make our minister a canon. Karen's birth name was Ball so it's just as well she got married to avoid being called "Canon Ball"! What's happening on your Beach Towel this morning? :cofdate: |
 Oh, my! Canon Ball! Now that would get their attention! I hope the service is beautiful, Ruth. How is Karen feeling these days, anyway?
Loriann, I totally agree with you on the so-called sales at Circuit City. Who do they think they're kidding? Your sister must have gotten one whopping refund if she's going to replace her appliances, good for her! :) Have her check out and compare prices at Lowe's. They always come in way cheaper around here, at least. ;) We had a pleasant day yesterday, and didn't do much damage in the weight department. The only thing I had that was off-plan was a piece of Turtle Cheesecake, and it was totally worth every calorie. :D My scale agrees, since it's not showing any gains. I'm getting ready to cook a big Farmer's style breakfast for Jake, and I'll just have my usual oatmeal and fruit. The kids will all be here for supper, so I'm pulling a roast out for them and combing through my new vegetarian cookbook for something a little "different" for me. I've been on an Indian food kick lately, so I'll thinking something along those lines. :) |
Good morning Chicks :coffee2:
Ruth - Sounds like a lovely evening. Enjoy the sparkly weather. Should make for a nice drive. Lori - I see you and the dogs have been getting out and enjoy the warmer temps :) I'd love to hear more about your HIIT walks when you have a minute. Now that I'm getting back outside I'm looking for ways to increase the calorie burn without running. Cottage - Yum, turtle cheesecake. I'd go for a few bites of that too. I've been going for a lot of Indian style food lately too. My absolute favorite veg cookbook author has a nice website and newsletter, can't remember if I already shared. Google "Nava Atlas" and check out her stuff. I've found a lot of good Indian recipes on www.recipesource.com too. I try to add the ones I really like to my Mastercook for future use. Now I want to go recipe surfing ;) Nothing exciting here. I'm spreading my chores over the whole weekend so it feels very lazy. Today is cooking and baking - bread, yogurt, refried beans, and seitan. I'm definitely getting out for a walk again too, maybe with snow shoes this time. Have a good post Valentine day all :) |
Thanks for the recipe recommendations, Cyndi. :) Nava Atlas is a favorite of mine, too. I love her 5 Ingredients or Less cookbook. I'll have to and google her website to check out her other recipes. :)

Good morning ladies,
All this talk about recipe surfing has sent me looking. I have a quiet house this morning with 3 of the 4 kids at sleepovers:carrot: and an eager 7 year old wanting to do something in the kitchen.:dizzy: I thought there was a recipe for granola on the board but I could not find it:^:..Sooo can one of you point me to it? She might enjoy making something snacky and healthy?!? |
Sunflower -- there is a recipe for Nessa Bars (oatmeal bars) that lots of people like.
Good Morning, I hope you all survived Valentine's Day. We had a wonderful day yesterday. My SIL's hubby had to work, so we had her, her 3 kids, and my MIL and FIL over for dinner last night. DH grilled beautiful New York Strip steaks. I made roasted cauliflower and a big salad. MIL made strawberry jello with fresh strawberries and coolwhip. It was delicious and perfectly SBD friendly. The one truffle that I enjoyed was not SBD friendly, but I savored every calorie. :) |
Phxsunflower, is this the recipe you are looking for?

Hello chicks, I am slowly getting back to normal, but being sick sure sapped my energy. The fever part has lasted four days (so far), but hopefully I won't get one today.
I was crazy to get out of the sick-house yesterday, so I had lunch with a friend, then went grocery shopping. Then another friend called and talked me into meeting them at a restaurant for dinner. It was a little Mexican place, and she was absolutely sure they wouldn't be busy because it wasn't a Valentine's date kind of place. WRONG!! We ended up waiting 45 minutes with 5 cranky, hungry kids to get a table. And DH doesn't even like Mexican food, so I know he was miserable. Anyway, stupid thing to do, but we ended up having a nice time. I definitely overdid things because my fever was back when we got home. So back to taking it easy today. I did a little cleaning and laundry because it was driving me nuts. And a little cooking to have lunches for the week. But now Eclipse is calling to me from the bedroom, so I think it is back to bed for a while, until time for DD's basketball game. |
Hi chickies, I too have not been up to par. Just had a long afternoon nap.
Yesterday was a nice day, DH and I drove out into the country and were so suprised to see that almost all the snow is gone. My bubble burst, DD has decided that she isn't taking the job offer. It would require too much travel and its just not the right time to be away from her 18 month old. I was very disappointed that I am not going but I also understand that it would be so hard on them with three people in a two bedroom condo. Anyways, we are planning to drive up at the end of April to see them. Probably will stay in the hotel not too far. Ruth - thanks for the laugh. Yesterday I watched the Vicar of Digby and was thinking of you and your village. I got the book- The Slugdog Millionaire on Friday and am half way thru. What a good read.can't wait to see the movie. Tomorrow is a holiday here called Family Day not that it matters when you are retired. Sophie |
Hi all!
We had a nice day--I cooked for two single friends (but one is a gay male and the other a straight femal :lol3: so no dice there). I got a nice gift and that was that. Today I slept in WAYYYYY too late, Wii Fit, then cooked dinner. We had to give the cat a bath though and she's none too happy. See you tomorrow! |
