What is the most difficult. . .
time of day for you to resist cravings? Also, what do you do/eat to help the cravings go away?
My toughest time of day is from about 3pm until dinnertime. Which happens to be right now. I was watching my 2 year old eat pb crackers and I wanted to take one and shove it in my mouth (and I don't really like pb crackers). |
Same time as you. Afternoon is hardest for me. That is when I tend to have my "dessert" for the day. Most days it is 2 fudgepops and 2 Tbl PB mixed together. It usually holds me for a while.
My hardest time is nighttime after my 5yo goes to bed. My pre-SBD habit was to have a bowl of cheerios about 8 p.m. and watch tv. I miss my cheerios.
afternoon for me too. I just had some peanuts and i feel pretty good now.
Evenings!!! when everyone's sitting around and the rest of the fam will get a bowl of cereal or something. That's when I reserve my cup of tea and spoonful of peanut butter, or hold back a serving of yogurt or the Ricotta dessert.
Afternoons, pre-supper time. I usually have some string cheese or reduced fat cheddar or fruit on Phase II. In the evening when everyone else is snacking I have whole wheat bread with a Tbs. of peanut or almond butter. Very satisfying. I try to have something to eat every 3-4 hours.
late afternoons here too. I usually have something with a protein and then salty veggie things like pickles, pepperoncini, or recently sauerkraut. I absolutely can't have fruit in the afternoon because I just want more. It's definitely the time I'm most likely to go off the ranch.
Afternoons, when boredom and anxiety and dissatisfaction and the desire to chew something set in. Instead, I have a cup of tea or chew some sugarless gum, unless it's actually time for my scheduled healthy snack at about 3 pm.
Evenings, after dinner when I feel like I "deserve" a sweet treat. This is an entitlement feeling that I think would be really beneficial for me to get rid of, but I haven't tried very hard yet. What I do to solve this for myself right now is to make myself some sugarless hot chocolate, or I have a couple squares of dark chocolate warmed up with a couple tbsps of peanut butter. But it would be better for me to be rid of the compulsion if possible. |
Afternoon is really it for me as well especially since thats when I'm usually at my Mom's and she always has something ridiculously tempting. Lately its been chocolate cake, yesterday I cracked but not today but its not your run of the mill cake, this stuff rivals any bakery and the frosting is just yummy.
Mid afternoon is when I feel most like snacking. I usually have my yogurt w/berries and a cup of hot chai or jasmine green tea to satisfy me until supper. SF gum is a real lifesaver, too!
afternoon/evening think its more a habit to snack then than anything
afternoon/evening this is when i get home and sometimes is so hard until the dinner's ready :tantrum:
chewing gum helped me some days |
Afternoons at work are the worst. We have free chips, soda and candy bars in the kitchen and I would always go have a snack about 3pm. I'm making sure I have a good snack like almonds to eat around that time, as well as avoiding the kitchen in the afternoon.
The dinner hour. Uggh!!!!!
Its the hardest because I tried to cook two tyoes of meals. One for me and another for them. My new years resolution is to cook one meal. I figured it would hurt them to eat healthy more often. |
Afternoons for me also!
