Hi. Today is my first day.

  • Hi all. Today is my first ay on SBD. I've read the book in the past, and do need to refresh myself. I live in Texas, just turned 30, have a 4 year old son, and am single.

    The reason I chose SBD is because I normally try to eat healthy foods and feel much better mentally and physically choosing SBD approved foods.

    I decided to join the boards for accountability. I hae no problem going to the gym. I love to exercise! It's my food and alcohol choices that keep me where I'm at. I work hard at the gym and it's tough not to see the scale move.

    I'm currently at 147.5 pounds. This time last year, I weighed 148. My measurements are also the same. I did get down to 140 for awhile, but then summer came along and vacations, the holidays, and well, here I still am. :-)

    I'm 5'2" and would like to lose at least 25 pounds. I will reassess when I get close to that goal. I have a tendancy to get smaller but not lose weight, which is mentally challenging.

  • Hi Marissa! Today is my first day of Phase 1 also. I just turned 30 also (less than a month ago!)

  • Today is my first day too. I was considering Atkins but decided South Beach seemed much healthier for me in the long run.
    I'm going to need all the help I can get too!

  • Wow, must be almost New Year's everyone. SBD is a great plan for life and this board is the best place I know of to get the information and support to help you get where you want to go. I look forward to getting to know all of you
  • Welcome, Marissa. There are a number of Texans who post here. Which area of the state are you in? This is such a healthy way of eating. I really think it helps my son stay healthy to eat this way (although I fix him extra carbs if I am doing phase 1).

  • Hi I actaully just started today as well. I lost about 30 lbs last year, but then gain back 20lb of it. I want to lose that again, and another 40 lbs or so. Plus I am tired of being exhausted all the time. I hope that I can make this a lifestyle. Right now I am so craving salty carbs... like popcorn.

  • Hi, today is my first day too. I'm 29 and I'm trying to get in shape for my wedding in August, 2009.

    My goal is to lose 20 lbs that I gained during grad school. My major problems are skipping meals and then filling up on unhealthy snacks. I also have trouble making myself go to the gym and exercising, always blaming it on my work schedule. I actually have plenty of time to go to the gym, and I am committed to doing it this time.

    Hi everyone. Today is my first day on Phase I. I am not new to site but am new to SB. I am a single mom of a teenager and an eight year old and am also engaged to a great guy! I am a full time college student and work part-time as a legal secretary. I am looking forward to a great 2009!
