phase 2 help

I started phase 2 on sunday and am having trouble menu planning. I added a fruit as a snack which is no problem. But I've added a starch to all my dinners since that's where I miss it the most. the problem is we like to do leftovers for lunch the next day- which then means doing 2 starches/day most of the time unless I can rework the leftovers somehow. is it "bad" to start off phase 2 with 1 fruit & 2 starches? should I maybe add another fruit? I only had a .5 weight loss in my second week of p1, so I'm worried about stalling out.

Most people just add a fruit OR a starch and ease into Phase II. We call it Phase I.5. Did you check out the FAQ stickies for suggestions?

I don't see why you couldn't do leftovers for lunch with just the protein from the night before with some added veggies. Perhaps you could post a menu or two.

well, it's kind of hard to separate the turkey from my turkey and wild rice soup, LOL. I feel comfortable adding a fruit AND starch. it's the fruit and 2 starches that worries me.

If you are worried about the extra starch, then I would skip the fruit for that day. I also added one thing (fruit) on week 1 of Phase II, then another thing (grain) for week 2, etc. That way you can monitor for cravings or weight stalls depending on the new food you have added in each week and adjust accordingly.

that makes sense. I guess I was under the impression I should do both a fruit & starch at the same time.

Or, if you take leftovers for lunch where you cannot separate the starch from the protein - just skip the starch at dinner that night. Plan to have starches every other night, leaving you with only one starch per day.

Dag, I had this issue because I also eat leftover for lunch. Here's what I did: I had a starch with dinner every other day. Then on the days when I had the leftovers (with a starch) for lunch, I had a starchless dinner. That way, I had a starchless leftover for lunch the next day and could have a starch with dinner. Make sense? Try it and see how you do. If you find that you can't live without the starches at dinner, maybe you can try making dinner with a removable starch (like the taco bake--have it in a WW tortilla at dinner, but have it over angel hair coleslaw for lunch the next day) at least every other day.
