There's even a Canton de Melbourne in the beautiful Eastern Townships of Quebec,Canada.

There is one in the UK too. I think they were all named after some bloke called Lord Melbourne - Irish peer whose lineage goes back centuries, but this one was a Brit Prime Minister (twice - recycling was in even back then) in the 1830's and 1840's. He was well received by good old Queen Victoria whom he tutored and mentored until young Albert came along.
Why the US one is named that I'm not sure, but if my history memory is good to go (and there is no guarantee about that) weren't there British soldiers and garrisons in that area before the Americans turfed them out?

Here endeth the history lesson for today. I'd better go do some work before the powers that be catch up with me.

We have been admiring them here in Illinois as well, beautiful sight up in the sky- watch them when we go for a night walk. DH is the one who told me it was two planets.
