Weekend Chatter

Good morning! I haven't checked the weather but it is getting light in the South East so we will have daylight.

Today is Puppy Day and I have mixed emotions. I've "done" puppies many, many times and hate the thought of all the work but know I'll be enthused and excited when it actually happens. It can't be as much work as when Hershey and Lucy each had a litter (7 and 9) two weeks apart! I always made sure my pups were well socialized so they had lots of running free time in the back of the house. Because of the age difference, I couldn't combine the litters for playtime so they did shifts. It was pretty wild - and messy! By the way, I do have to change the name - Taz would become Tazzy and that's Aussie slang for :censored:! He's only 4½ months and really doesn't know his name yet so it won't be a problem.

Reading back through yesterday's daily, I see both good stuff and bad. All I can say is "This too shall pass" or גם זה יעבור. Hang in there, Chickies - when you get to my age, it really won't matter.

Have a Super Saturday if at all possible. If not, do something nice for yourself.

Time for more coffee and a chat and cuddle with Disney to reassure her that she'll still be my Number One Dog when the newbie pup arrives.

cottagebythesea 11-15-2008 07:07 AM

:coffee: I poured you a cup of coffee, Ruthie. :)

If you've made the decision to go ahead and get Razz, then you know in your heart that you're doing the right thing. It's not extra work, it's extra love and care, and you have plenty of that! I'm happy and excited for you, and I hope he gives you as much joy as Disney does. Have a wonderful day, and let us know later today how it's going so far. OK?

It's raining, it's pouring, but the old man nots snoring, he's coughing instead. He says he's caught my cold. He still wants to go for our usual Saturday breakfast with the gang routine, though. I want to get to Trader Joe's today, too, to find that Soy Chorizo to make a recipe that CYNDIM suggested, and take a quick run through Walmart. I'll stop in to see how Mom & Dad are doing, too.

CyndiM 11-15-2008 07:08 AM

Good morning Ruth and Chicks yet to wake up. No coffee here yet so I'm not entirely awake. DP just went to get me some tea to hold me until there is good coffee.

I can't wait to see puppy pics Ruth :) I hope the new baby and Disney get along really well.

Looks like it will be rainy and VERY windy here today so I won't get all the walking in I'd hoped. I'll do what I can though both for exercise and to shop. It's a great little town for shopping.

We took a few silly pictures last night because i wanted to show you the top. Have a good day everyone.

ETA - Good morning Cottage & Lori

Loriann7 11-15-2008 07:10 AM

Awe Ruth! Enjoy the puppy! It's worth it! (this as she recalls all the underbreath cursing she's been doing to cody!)... If the resident dog allows for the newcomer, the two will become fast friends and the puppy will help liven things up around there, especially the old dog!

Me: Well, the rainy day blew my thoughts to get the dogs to the park today for exercise. :(. Hope the rain stops enough to get a good walk in though!
I will be doing bills momentarily here, to get them out of the way, planning a menu, cleaning house, and shopping today. I'm hoping to relax a bit tomorrow and do more house cleaning. I need to run the car through the car wash, so I may leave the dogs here today, usually I take them with me on my saturday rounds! Poor things are cooped up all week, not fair!

How about you all? How are you?

TwynnB 11-15-2008 07:20 AM

Good morning chicks!

Ruth - I'll be overly excited for you!! (I'm living vicariously thru you, ya know, until I'm ready for one!) Good luck!

Cottage - Enjoy your shopping!

Cyndi - LOVE the top! You are so skinny!

Lori - Make sure you take time for yourself this weekend!

Me - off to work this morning, then on call all weekend :(. Should be interesting, since we're joining the church tomorrow morning...hopefully, the phone will stay quiet! I never have plans when I'm on call... (hey, but I'm on call with Matt!)

Enjoy the weekend, ladies!

zeffryn 11-15-2008 09:04 AM

Barb - Wow. If I could do anything to alleviate just a little of the stress that you must be going through, I would. Like Ruth said, this too shall pass. Be strong, girl. If it helps at all, try to take solace in the fact that you are teaching your son tremendous amounts of character and virtue -- something that is all too lacking in today's society. You are a model for parents everywhere.

Ruthie - puppies are so cute to combat just how freakin' insane they drive you! Have a great time with the new one.

Cottage - I hope your DH feels better, soon! Colds are no fun -- there is something nasty brewing as far as illnesses go, people are dropping like flies around us. Have fun at TJ's (take a whiff of their coffee for me..)

Cyndi - Hot mama! That top is adorable!

Lori - Morning! Have fun with your errands....you remind me that my car needs a wash desperately.

Twynn - Have a great weekend!

-
We are going to our nephew's swim meet this morning and will likely do lunch with the family afterwards. Wish him luck - this is his second tournament. Last time he came in dead last, but wasn't DQ'd like quite a few kids. He just learned to swim over the summer and is making tremendous progress.

DH really told the hard truth to his mom last night (when she called at 1 a.m.) about things that precipitated this divorce - he tried to be gentle with her, he even cried on the phone trying to get her to just listen to him instead of making excuses..but she just couldn't. I think we've been written off for awhile because we aren't staunch supporters of her (our family has made it clear that we do not want to choose sides and refuse to speak ill of one parent in front of another - which I think is the right course of action to take), which is very unfortunate with the holidays but more so because DS absolutely adores her and doesn't take it well when he can't see her for awhile. She refuses to answer or return our phone calls or emails. :( I hope that there is some resolution to this soon, although it looks like a divorce is imminent (because she is so concerned with her outward appearance and just makes excuses for everything!). My SIL told her kids this week, they cried. I'm just thankful that DS is young enough that he doesn't really understand. I just wish that MIL wasn't so self absorbed as to see what she is doing to her grandchildren and make an effort to see them.

My birthday is next week...I'm setting my eyes on the spa and trying not to let this get to me. :)

Kim_Star060404 11-15-2008 10:00 AM

Good Saturday morning, everything is going pretty well for me. Sorry for being MIA lately. We've been super busy at the office and it doesn't look like it will end soon. I may be visiting on the weekends only for a while.

Ruth: Congratulations on the prospect of a new puppy. I'm running all the dirty words through my head to try and figure out what "Tazzy" is in Australian. I guess I'll have to google it! Enjoy your puppy day!

Cottage: Good morning! Sounds like you've got a lot of running around to do today! I hope Jake's cold isn't too bad and that he's not too much of a baby about it! ;) Enjoy breakfast!

Cyndi: That's a really cute shirt!! We were dealing with the wind yesterday, but I'm hoping that it's run its course. Working out at the park yesterday was pretty miserable. Enjoy your day out!

Lori: I'm sorry the rain is keeping you and the dogs from getting out for a walk. I hope you enjoy your day. It sounds like you're busy today. I hope you have time to relax!

Twynn: Enjoy your weekend and congrats on finding a church to join! It can be such a hard decision to make, so I'm sure you feel it's really a blessing to have found one to call home. I hope you don't get called in!

Zeffryn: Good luck to your nephew!! I'm sorry about the situation with your MIL. I know it's hard for the three of you, but I definitely admire your resolve not to get involved in taking sides. Stay strong!

Me: As I said, I've been busy! We're in the middle of our inspection season at work and I seem to have girls in and out of the office daily. Things are going to get worse before they get better with the holidays coming up, but we'll get through it. We always do.

DH and I have pretty tame plans for the day. I've got some packages to ship off, there will be a stop at the grocery and then we're planning on going to the park to jog a bit. I've got two rooms to clean and some laundry to get done, but that's it. We're grilling fajitas for dinner and that's our day! Easy-going, the way weekends should be!

Have a great day, everyone!!

hmacneil6 11-15-2008 10:03 AM

Good morning all!!! Happy Weekend!!!
Ruth - I know the dog is the luckiest in the world this week. You are going to make the best choices with him and I'm sure things will be just fine. Have fun getting him home an beginning the adjustment.

Cottage - Sorry to hear that dh is not well. Have fun with the friends at breakfast!

Cyndi - Great top! You look fantastic! Did dp sell any of her photographs?? How was the show!?!?!?

Laurie - Sounds like a busy Saturday. I hope you're able to get everything done, and have a chance to get the pups out!! Good luck!

Twynn - Cool that you all are joining a church tomorrow. I hope the "on-call" stays quiet so you can enjoy your time!

Zeff - So sorry to hear that MIL is not figuring things out quite as quickly as she needs to. Your poor dh must be miserable. Hang in there. Things will get better!

Me - Lots of errand running today and tomorrow, but other than that, nothing else is planned for right now, which is really nice. We've been so busy, and will continue to be as the holidays draw closer. It'll be nice to have a quiet lazy morning home.
I'm jumping into phase 1 for a couple of days next week. I'm not making the wisest of choices and if I continue down this road, I"m sure it will quickly become a slippery slope back to where I was. NOT GOOD!!! So hopefully a couple phase 1 days will kick me back into high gear.
Have a good Saturday. I plan to check in tomorrow!!!
BLESSINGS!

sophie 11-15-2008 10:11 AM

Ruth - enjoy your puppy. You will be tired tonight.

Cottage - Hope you get to go to Trader's Joe

Cyndi - was yesterdays reception tiring. I always find these things tiring, standing around talking to strangers,

Loriann - hope the weather clears up your way, nothing but rain here.

Tynn - hope your phone doesen't go off.

Zeff - its a hard thing you are going thru. Hope it settles down soon.

Kim - you sound like it a relaxing weekend.

Barb - special prayers for you.

Me - Yesterday DH and I drove to a Mennonite farmers market I purchased buckwheat honey (find it helps for a cough) and lots of leek. I will clean it and slice it, bag it in little ziplock bags and freeze it. It freezes very well.
I hope to finish weaving the silk scarves I have on my loom this weekend and finish plying the fringres. Will give one to DD for Christmas. She loves scarves and wears them almost year round.

Morning! I'm actually starting to feel better today. The dr's office called me last night wanting to put me on a steroid. I said "uh, no" since that would be the 3rd kind of medicine they tried to put me on without seeing me. My cough is finally starting to get better. I think I just have to get it all out of my system.

Today is going to be a day full of looking for stuff for the duplex and packing. We already picked out paint colors! I'm soooo excited. We get to start moving stuff in/painting next Friday. I get all warm and fuzzy feelings picturing how our Christmas tree is going to look in our front room.

Unfortunately, now Little Guy will be spending Christmas with his mother. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Oh well. That just means we get him next year, but I was really hoping to have him this year.

OOH! We get to go see Santa at the mall today!!!! Hot diggity daffodil!

Well, gotta get ready. Talk soon!

Lisa

Shad 11-15-2008 04:10 PM

Ruth,
Although I said in my other post I wasn't aware of 'Tazzie', I have just had DS2 explain it to me. Trust me, the kids always know what's going on. Anyway it is not a Tazzie - it's a 'Map of Tassie' so there. And I can see where the problem might lie in downtown tourist trap Delta with the hordes of Ockers you get through there.

Just thought I would let you know 'I have seen the light'

Barb0522 11-15-2008 04:15 PM

I convinced Brian to go shopping for jeans today. I swear he hates to shop worse than I do but his 8's were too small and he only had one 10 that was in good shape. Time to stop wearing shorts since it got into the 30's last night. Now he is set with 12s that should last until he wears them out or a few years at the rate he grows.

I spent the morning going through the file cabinet. I still have one more drawer to do but I found $2600 in US Savings Bonds that Robert's dad bought him. I had Brian try to call his dad several times to let him know but so far there is no answer so he may already have checked out. As much as he owes me money, these belong to him and should help set him up in an apartment for awhile at least. I told Brian he was having to leave the nursing home. I'm glad he didn't ask me why I won't let him come home. I guess he knows why.

Pearlrose 11-15-2008 06:11 PM

Hello all,

Sounds like everyone is enjoying this Cold and Windy Saturday.

Did a few errands was trying to find a new spray I saw advertised in Shape from Clorox that helps with pet dander in the house so we can keep the kitty for DD2.

I am probably going to be like Lori and Kim and probably here mostly on weekends because work is getting to busy with my new responsibilities.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

Barb- just read yesterday posts and wanted to give you a  you definitely need- stick to your guns and do not let him move back in- that is what is best for you and your son.

zeffryn 11-15-2008 06:29 PM

Pearl - what is this new thing from Clorox? Sounds interesting.

weezle 11-15-2008 08:45 PM

So didn't get near as much done today as I'd hoped. Little Guy was having awful pains due to constipation. If you ever want to get a little one to eat their fruits and vegetables, just let them go without eating them for about a week. The abdominal pain from no bathroom celebrations will make them ready and willing!

As soon as we explained to him why he was having such bad pains, he said "Mama Lisa? Can I have some green beans?"

WHAT?

:D

zeffryn 11-15-2008 09:00 PM

haha, nice! We've had to cut DS back on apples and applesauce - he was going a bit too much.

Ugh. Sitting here, alone on a Saturday night. DH and I were supposed to go watch mma at a local sports bar. When all the drama happened, I told DH that I would stay home with DS and that he could go. I made sure he put DS to bed before he left, plug my laptop in, get the phone in bed and set me up with Steel Magnolias and ice cream.

:)

cottagebythesea 11-15-2008 09:08 PM

Don't you just love how he calls you "Mama Lisa"? You sound like he has you wrapped right around his little finger, Lisa! I hope the dear little guy is able to have his "celebration" soon. If he's still awake, how about making him a baked apple in the microwave? That always makes me go! ;)

Barb, I've been reading your posts, just haven't had time to respond. You are such a wonderful mother and role model for Brian! I am keeping both of you in my prayers and hope that everything works out in your favor.

It's been a pretty wild day here, weather-wise. After some very heavy downpours this morning, it cleared up for a while, so Monica and Carley decided to come out for the afternoon. Just as they were leaving to go home, the weather turned extremely nasty again and we're under a tornado watch, so they've decided to spend the night.

weezle 11-15-2008 09:11 PM

Aw. Steel Magnolias and ice cream sounds AWESOME. Sounds like a nice quiet evening!

I'm a dumb-:censored: and just tried to slice my the tip of my thumb off. I was using my Pampered Chef apple slicer/corer thingy for Little Guy, and a couple of slices were still stuck in the blades, and I, being the intelligent homosapien that I am, thought it would be brilliant to use my thumb to get them out.

Sigh.

weezle 11-15-2008 09:12 PM

:lol3: Cottage! I would make a baked apple if I could keep from cutting my appendages off!

Edited: Errrr.... so, if I wanted to make a baked apple in the microwave, how would I go about doing that?

cottagebythesea 11-15-2008 09:21 PM

Zeff, move over and make room for me! Steel Magnolias and ice cream, while all tucked up in bed, sound like Heaven!

Lisa, Oh, no! :fr: I have that Pampered Chef apple thingy, and I've almost cut myself with it, too! I discovered that it's easier and safer to turn the apple upside down first. It makes the apple steadier.

weezle 11-15-2008 09:24 PM

Oh, I'm alright. Probably could use some stitches, but Tommy ointmented and bandaged the heck out of my thumb, and I refuse to be stitched up. I look like they do in the cartoons, with tons of wrapping around the thumb, and the little throbbing red lines around it.

Hadn't done anything bad since my toaster oven idiot burn, almost exactly a year ago. I was due.

cottagebythesea 11-15-2008 09:39 PM

Lisa, if you have the Pampered Chef apple corer, core the apple without cutting yourself. :D Put it in a microwave-safe dish. Then stuff the apple with a mixture of raisins, chopped nuts, and cinnamon sugar. Cover the dish with Press & Seal Wrap or Saran Wrap and nuke it for about 6 - 8 minutes. Be careful when you remove the cover, there'll be a lot of steam! Make sure you let it cool off some before you try to eat it, too. It's divine with Cool Whip or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
(When I make this for myself, I use SF DaVinci caramel syrup.)

weezle 11-15-2008 09:52 PM

Ooooh, that sounds awesome! Thanks!

zeffryn 11-15-2008 10:01 PM

mmmmmmmm...baked apple........so, maybe I should have had DH move the microwave in here as well?

I'm trying to decide how to get my haircut - it is LONG now, probably to the middle of my back and nothing as far as layering or anything goes. It is a pretty clean slate. I was thinking maybe shoulder length? I'm so bad with this kind of stuff...help!

Barb0522 11-15-2008 10:35 PM

zeff - Shoulderlength might be more comfortable with a new baby. Brian was always a hair twirler and even as a newborn he would twirl my hair so I cut it after he was born and kept going shorter and shorter. Now I love it short since it is so easy to take care of. I just wash it and run a comb or brush through it. And then it is cool in the summer. But I know many people (especially husbands) do not care for short hair.

I got Brian's Scout pants hemmed up and he finished his model rocket for next week's launch. He's playing on Club Penguin now and I'm going to need to drag him to bed soon. We've got Sunday school in the morning. All in all, it was a nice day.

zeffryn 11-15-2008 11:11 PM

DH won't mind shoulder length hair - it was that length, or maybe shorter when we met. I just want something that I will be able to put up if I need to, but will be wash and wear for days that I'm home with both kids.

Ruthxxx 11-16-2008 07:04 AM

Rainy Sunday

Good morning. The noise of the rain woke me at 4 but I refused to get up. We had quite a downpour and the lane is full of puddles.

Jazz seemed to have a good night. I started him off in his crate but, after ½ hour of yipping, I decided to give poor Disney a break and let him out. She slept on "her" chair and he slept on the floor at her feet on his blanket. Disney is a bit upset over the new addition, I think. There's not much tail wagging going on. I gave her a good 20 minute tummy rub this morning while I drank my coffee. She has been really good with him - not a single growl or curled lip even when he tries to eat out of her dish.

Church this morning is on the agenda, followed by coffee back here for "puppy viewing". I also plan to either fix my camera or go to town to buy a new one! Just changing batteries shouldn't bugger it up, right? :nono:

Tomorrow "sometime" Cousin Peter and his co-worker will be here for blueberry pie on their way back to Ottawa from Kingston so I may do the pie this afternoon so it can just be heated tomorrow. On the other hand, baking it tomorrow would make the house smell great. Decisions, decisions! I really don't feel like cooking today as I made a huge pot of chili yesterday and that sausage and pepper casserole.

What's a'happenin' around your Beach towel today? :cofdate:

weezle 11-16-2008 09:13 AM

Wow, I'm early? Good morning Ruthie! Sounds like even though there may be a little jealousy from Disney, she's being a good girl!

Well, now that Little Guy is a little more regular, I think we're going to try to finish our errands today. I'm going to hit the health food store to get some tea, whey protein powder, fake chicken breasts, and look for acai berries. Dr. Oz said that those are the best for you, highest in anti-oxidants, but I have no idea where to find them in this little town.

Otherwise, just going to start boxing up stuff we won't miss over the next couple of weeks. Going to make a new dinner (meat, even!) tonight for Tom. He was flipping through Cooking Light Magazine and found a recipe he just HAD to eat, so I'm going to try it tonight. I'm going to post it in Ph2 entrees because it looks acceptable to me. It's called Walnut-Crusted Pork Chops With Autumn Vegetable Wild Rice.

Well, gonna have some breakfast (a yogurt parfait is sounding good this morning) and some tea before I get moving on the day. Hope everyone has a great day!

Lisa

zeffryn 11-16-2008 09:45 AM

Ruth - glad that Disney is being nice to the puppy. I'm sure they'll warm up to each other soon.

Lisa - I haven't been able to find fresh acai berries or even frozen ones anywhere but the internet. Our local co-op carries unsweetened dried ones. It is rather expensive to buy fresh or frozen (but they are the best choices), so most of the time I'll go dried and rehydrate them before using in things like smoothies. I just let them soak in boiling water until plump - it usually takes a half hour or so.

Is that recipe from the latest cooking light? I love that magazine! I had a subscription but it ended a few months ago and I just never renewed it. I usually borrow copies from MIL, but with the latest I'm not sure about asking favors. I'll go browse the latest recipes online.

-
Not much on the agenda today other than house cleaning. The floors desperately need to have a thorough cleaning. I can see the dust bunnies in the corner. I think we'll also try to get some pictures hung. I also need to get to Michael's to see about a custom framing order (I wince at the price!) and get the car washed and vacuumed.

It is a COLD morning and I forgot to bring my hibiscus in....I hope it didn't freeze.

I think gingerbread pancakes fit the bill this morning. Maybe I'll grate up an apple to throw in as well.

Pearlrose 11-16-2008 10:23 AM

Good morning everyone,

Lisa have fun doing your errands and good luck finding the berries.

Zeff the spray is called "Clorox Anywhere Anti-Allergen Fabric Spray". Now I just have to find it to try, but for some reason I am not as allergic anymore, one of my friends said maybe I am allergic to the baby fur and as he sheds that I will not be affected? I do not touch him though and we have been wiping him down with either dryer sheets or baby wipes, so that might be the reason as well, but I am still going to try and find. Shoulder length hair would be great for when the baby comes then you can put up or put down according to how you feel.

Good morning Ruth enjoy your church, we are going as well this morning so I need to get a move on and go get ready.

As for me I realized I did big booboo- I forget to call in my b/c prescription and yesterday took last one of last packet. I called it in but it will not be ready till Tuesday. So I will need to be extra careful the next week while doubling up for a few days. Getting too old to be getting pregnant again and not going there again. DH is onboard with that notion so all is cool LOL.

Have a great Sunday ladies

hmacneil6 11-16-2008 10:24 AM

Hey all!!! Crazy night!
Don't know if you've seen the news about the fires, but my mom and sis and my sis's roommate ended up at our house last night because they live up near the fires. We had a big slumber party. All is well, but there's still waiting to do.
Please say your prayers.
BLESSINGS!!!

Kim_Star060404 11-16-2008 10:28 AM

Morning everyone. I'm laid up on the couch as I pulled a muscle in my back sometime during the night. I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I sure can feel it today! :(

Zeff: I'm contemplating a haircut as well. DH wouldn't mind shoulder length but he'd hate for me to go shorter! I know what you mean about the custom framing orders! My sister manages a Michael's near Austin and even with her employee discount, it's outrageous! But it sure is worth it to get the right frame and mat to make a picture really gorgeous.

Lisa: I'm glad little guy is regular again! I'm sure you'll never have to teach that lesson to him again. I LOVE Cooking Light. I always find great things in there that even DH loves.

Ruth: Awww, Disney is so sweet! I'm sure the adjustment period will be short with her. She's such a good girl. Enjoy your puppy viewing company!

Barb: I've just caught up on all that is going on and you and Brian and Robert are in my thought right now. How honorable of you to reason that the bonds will help Robert get on his feet. I'm sure that's the best thing for Brian. Stay strong...I'm hoping that your situation will resolve itself soon!

Me: Thank the Lord I had the energy to get the rest of the house cleaned yesterday!! All I've got today is one load of laundry (our workout clothes, so it HAS to be done), but I know that DH will help me with it. And DH decided last week that today would be great for chili and cornbread, so he's in charge of dinner tonight. I'll be on the couch all day until the Cowboys game. (I'll be a nice wife today and let him have the big tv! ;))

Well, I've been upright to type for a while and I'm ready to lay down. Sorry for not getting to everyone for personals. I'm thinking about you all!!

~Kim

ETA:

Pearl: Uh oh! No funny business for a few days! Good luck with that!!!

Heather: Prayers and good thoughts are going out to everyone affected. I'm sure that ya'll had fun, though!! ;) Keep us informed.

weezle 11-16-2008 12:20 PM

Zeff, thanks for the acai info! I looked at our health food store's website and it didn't seem to know what acai berries were, but I can dream, right? And yes, that recipe was from the most recent Cooking Light. We sell them at work, but no one buys magazines from a movie store, so when we get the newer ones in, we damage out the old ones and "destroy" them. I destroyed it by tearing recipes out of it and throwing the rest in the garbage. :D

Well, time to dry my hair, have a snack, and get moving. Tom's in the shower so he'll be ready to go in 10 minutes. Have a great afternoon girls!

Barb0522 11-16-2008 02:13 PM

Brian and I went to Best Buy after church and got a Wii Fit!!! It's the first time we've been able to buy one and I've been wanting it for so long. I probably shouldn't have spent the money but it will be an early Christmas present. Brian is working on setting it up now while i'm supposed to be planning meals. I'd better get back to it.

CyndiM 11-16-2008 05:02 PM

It's good to be home :) We were so exhausted we actually took a nap this afternoon. I never nap but today I just couldn't stay awake.
Saw the results of the economy this weekend - last year 500 people showed up and spent over $4000. This year it was very quiet the whole time. Ouch

Heather - hope you and family & friends are all hanging in there. Let's keep each other in line. My choices have been unimpressive at best lately. Gotta get back on track before the holiday food starts showing up!

Zeff - Sorry things are so crazy right now :( Too bad the so called grown ups don't think more about the little ones.

Kim - how's that relaxing weekend? Sounds like a great idea :)

Sophie - oohhh, do you have pictures of scarves? Tell us more.

Weezle - What is it about finger tips and things that slice apples???

Ruth - sounds like you and the puppies could use a nap!

 everyone. Time to go work out!

sophie 11-16-2008 05:22 PM

well, another weekend almost over, eh|

Heather, hope that your family will be fine. I know some of the people that have lost everything are very well off but it must still be such a horrible experience. You never recover family pictures, and cherished items.

Ruth - I was thinking of you last night when it was raining very hard. I wondered it you had to go out with the doggies. I miss mine but not when its raining.

Barb - glad you got a Wii Fit. I have no idea what it is.

Zeff - I saw on another thread that you can't get a turkenduc? Should I send my friend's husband over, he does one each year and even held a demo for us one year, too complicated for me.

Cyndi - I just know so little about computers and pictures. When one of my sons is around I will have to have them put a picture of on the computer. Put will they see how much I weigh. I have never told them. Basically, I buy silk and do my own dyeing and weave scarves. They are usually set at 36 threads per inch and are ten inches wide and about 65 inches long and with my love of beads I insert beads in the fringe when I ply my fringes. I have been weaving for 30 years and have a computer assisted loom. I still do the weaving but can design on the computer and the computer picks up the right shafts for me to weave for my pattern. I use to do juried shows and sales but since DH retired I just weave for pleasure. Too much information, eh. But its a passion with me.
Weezle - you sound better.
Chicken is baking in the oven and I have stuffed it with onions so there is a very nice smell in my kitchen.

OK, for those that haven't checked Ph2 Entrees, that Cooking Light recipe is awesome! Tom loves the pork chops and rice, and I had some of the rice (pre-bacon) and it's delicious! Very filling with all the ruffage in it, too. Being the vegetarian that I am, I cooked a Boca Savory Mushroom Burger and set it on the bed of rice instead of the pork chop, topped that with a little low fat mozz cheese, and we had green beans as a side.

Zeff, went to our health food store and they had acai juice, powder, and capsules, but I wasn't about to spend the money on all that. I'd rather have the real thing. Do you know where to get dried acai berries online?

Cyndi, I am the queen of injuring myself, usually either burning or cutting myself. This is why I should never cook, although I love doing it.

Sophie, all the drugs they have me on have finally kicked in, and I'm starting to feel better. Still have a little cough, but it's not incaptacitating, and my energy is coming back. My night sweats aren't near as bad either, and I've kept the fever away for a week now! Hot dog!

Well, Tommy wants to play a game he just downloaded before I ganked the computer from him while he was stuffing his face. :D Hope everyone has a great night! I'll try to pop in later (if I can get Tom away from the computer!)

Hello! Long weekend. Just wanted to stop in and say hi. Quickly read the posts. I am so jealous of the wii fit! I have wanted one for a while now. Trying to talk DH into buying one so close to XMas!!
Today we went to the circus. It was so much fun!! My kids had a blast, and DH and I enjoyed ourselves too. At times I could just feel my mouth hanging open in wonder at what I was watching. How do they do all that?!?!
Enjoy your Sunday, what is left of it!

Oh yeah, changed the avitar. It is so cold!! I needed something warm to look at! We took this picture in Hawaii this spring. I wish I could be there now!

Sophie - that would be perfect. Think he could be here around 9 a.m. on the Friday after Thanksgiving? ;)

Lisa - I didn't know you were veg? The acai juice is tasty - DS isn't too hot on it, but doesn't mind when I mix it into smoothies. Most of the juices available have been pasteurized and don't have as much antioxidant properties as other forms.

I'll give you some links to things I've bought in the past:

Mind you..acai is expensive, especially in its most pure forms. It is a treat for our family - we usually will have blueberries or pomegranates in our smoothies, as they are cheaper and readily available.
