Gluten free bread?
Saw a interview with a new Gluten free bakery today, and was wondering how this would affect the SB plan. Does anyone have any experience with this?:D
|
how what would affect the SB plan? Any experience with what? Gluten free products?
|
Gee,I think your response is less than friendly, or informative.

Zeff, I think she's asking if we're allowed gluten-free products on the SBD.
Choices, gluten-free products are fine, as long as they fit the guidelines of this plan. You should check the ingredients to be sure they're compliant. I hope this helps. ;) |

Thanks, Cottage, for clearing that up. |
Would they be phase I friendly?

I was confused at first too. |
I ran across that gluten free bread for those that don't tolerate wheat,on a t.v. show, and then some flourless bread as well. My thinking was hey,if there isn't any sugar,or flour..then it might be permissable on p2. So far though I have not actually seen the product,or found anyone to ask about it.

You might look into Ezekiel breads. I'm not sure whether they're gluten-free, but they don't have flour--they use sprouted grains. They're delicious  and P2-safe.
However, most of the gluten-free things I've found are made with flours of other kinds, such as rice (usually white), which are not SBD-safe. Furthermore, they are very expensive compared to traditional foods. Unless you have a problem with gluten, I wouldn't think they'd be very useful. |

A lot of the gluten free products I've looked at have rice flour which I'm guessing is not SB approved. I don't know for sure, though, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Another thing is sugar. Gluten free products still have sugar, honey, or other sweeteners you need to look out for.

Thanks Laurie for the tip on Ezekiel bread, I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Trader Joes'.....Thanks everyone, without the product to actually see what the ingredients are,it's impossible to know...

I use the Ezekial Breads daily and love the taste. I keep mine in the freezer since it doesn't have preservatives in it.
