Good morning, lovelies!

I'm new, and this is my first humpday on the SBD. :)

Sounds like everyone's got a lot going on - I just got home (was with hubby all night at work) and am making lunch so I can go to work....

And really, that's all that's going on here. :) Other than it's freezing, and it's supposed to be windy and have a high of 60 here today in good old Montana... sheesh!

jessikerlaine Welcome and happy first hump day with us

Welcome Jessikerlaine! Happy Humpday.

ugh, I'm feeling icky. DH had to work early this morning and comes home after his first class for breakfast...I had some greek yogurt and a banana, but I'm feeling like I'm starving! I hope DH drives quickly home....I might just eat his breakfast as well ;)

Uggh about the tune-up Cottage! Congrats to your SIL! How's your dad doing? How do you prune your roses? I'm totally clueless and should probably get a book!

Glad you rested yesterday, Ruth! :)

Sounds like you're as busy as Ruth these days, Cyndi. Hope you can relax at your parents'! Do you think we can freeze tomatillo puree? I have some left from a recipe and am contemplating freezing it. :chin:

Loriann, Bible study has been a great way for me to meet friends at church. :) Hope it's that way for you, too.

tmig, tomatillos look like little green tomatoes with a brown husk around them. You take off the husk and use the rest--it has a lemon-y sort of flavor. You can make a wonderful green salsa with them or use them in sauce. My favorite recipe for them is Chicken-Avocado Couscous Salad with Tomatillo Dressing. As for the scale, maybe try changing things around. Exercise a different way or at a different time. That seems to help the most.

Pearl, what's a wfh day?

Zeff, I feel clueless, but didn't know you were moving! Where to? I'm sure the freecycle people understand. :D I'll have to find that oatmeal custard...my DH is always eating lunch at 11 or 11:30 because he's starving. As for DS, I can understand...when I was his age, I was a wreck whenever my mom washed my blankie or one of my stuffed animals. Even though I knew it was coming back out in an hour, it really stressed me out. I'm sure he'll feel better soon. Can he help you pack his things? Maybe that would help?

Gonna, take up the recliner offer, girl! We all need some rest!

:goodluck: at the interview, Lisa!

Darn exploding office, Heather! I have that problem too. ;) Except mine is an exploding craft room...

:welcome3: Jessikerlaine! Glad to see you in the daily!

Me: Sorry not to get to everyone...it's been a busy morning! I have food and mood group tonight and need to get to the gym before. DH is making dinner, though, so that's good. I'm spending wayyy too much time on Facebook lately. I found a couple good friends from college yesterday and it was SO nice to "see" them, though.

Hope everyone has a great Fall day!

Laurie - My DS is the same way with his blanket. I can convince him about once every two weeks or so to relinquish it for an hour to wash it. That blanket is so gross, I swear the thing could walk itself to the washing machine.

He does help pack - I give him a small pile of things and a box...half hour later, he's still playing with the toys before putting them in the box. Typical 2 y/o I guess :)

We're moving this coming weekend...not a whole lot of notice. We rented a duplex/condo type thing with a lot more room (bigger kitchen is a huge plus and a lot more living space) I wanted to move into something bigger before the baby was born. Thankfully, some friends are renting our house for a few months and my in-laws actually volunteered to do all the rental stuff after our friends move out so we don't have to sit on it for months waiting for it to sell.
I'm really excited...just a little stressed about packing everything in a little more than a week.

What is Food and Mood group?

Pearlrose 10-08-2008 01:31 PM

Cottage- glad to hear that it is only a tuneup

Weezle- good luck with your interview

Laurie wfh= work from home day, I normally get 2 a week.

Zeff- I have always heard for little kids you pack up their stuff last, less stress for them. They think their things are going away forever. Glad you are moving this weekend and then the stress will be over for the little guy- not for you since you still have to unpack whew!!!

zeffryn 10-08-2008 03:22 PM

Pearl - I made sure to leave out some of DS' favorite toys and we're not going to take apart his bed until Saturday morning (he's going to freak out with that one).

also, can I say that the fees for turning on electricity are insane! $165 for some random fee, $100 connection charge and then a deposit (refunded when the first month's electricity bill is paid in full). Over $300 just to turn it on!

Thankfully our cable service doesn't charge a re-connection fee and because our credit is good, no deposit.

Hi ladies,

DH and I are on the second week of PH1 and so far I have lost 6 pounds. Would have been more I'm sure if I hadn't slipped over the weekend.
I'm kinda in a funk with my shoulder and knee injury so I can't work out and can't really do anything around the house but hopefully I will start to feel better soon.

Have a great Hump Day, what's left of it.

Size 12 jeans, my friends, I sqeezed into them and managed to button them! Okay, so they're skin tight, but heck, this is the first time in my adult life that I have a size 12 anything. I'm stoked. This is good encouragement right now.

Another busy day. I'm going to get off of work and go pick up Brian in a few minutes and we need to try to sell popcorn. We haven't been out in over a week! Far too hectic. I did finally get my replacement motor for the pool. They backordered it in June. I'm really glad they gave me a loaner.

Just a quick hey and a chuckle...

This week for social studies I'm teaching map reading to tie in to Columbus Day next week. So, I made a couple of maps of the school..yesterday we did a scavenger hunt..I hung up signs all over school, like "Go south till you see the next clue" and so on till we had walked all directions of the compass rose. They all had their maps and enjoyed the "hunt".

Today we found "location points"...kind of like finding longitude and latitude. I made another map of the school with numbers 1-8 going across the top and 1-8 going down the side of the map and we were finding different rooms/ classes etc and identifying them by location points of the where the lines of the numbers intersected.

On the last one, I told the kids "find 8 across the top and 3 down the side and follow it with your finger. Now, where are you?" The answer was "Multi-Purpose Room"...it's a combination of big gym/meeting room etc.

Keep in mind this is 2nd grade. So, I ask, "Now, where are you ?" and they all yell out "Murpus Purpose Room". I thought I was going to die laughing on the inside.

Missing morning postings, but thinking of you all...
