Changes to SBD

  • I own the first edition of the SBD. I noticed that since then they've allowed for foods that were off-limits before, particularly in Phase I.

    Is anyone following the original version of SBD? And if you're not, are you seeing the same positive results?

    I was counting calories and did very well with that, but now I seem to be "stuck" at about 138 pounds.

    My husband is starting Phase I with me tomorrow, although he doesn't need to lose any weight, but does have a heart condition and is interested in seeing how this works for him.

    If anyone could let me know if the "new and improved" versions of SBD are as effective as the original, I'd appreciate it.
  • I have done it both ways. I've never had a huge loss on Ph1, I seem to lose 5 lbs. every time I do it, but since I go back to it when I have been off-plan to kick cravings and kick things back in gear, this doesn't bother me. So for both weight and getting blood sugar levels stable and cravings in hand I think they are equally effective, and the Ph1 chicks around here since the new book came out seem to have good success with the updated plan.
