Oh Nessa  to you and Bagel. We've been where you are and it's so hard. I'll be thinking of you both tonight.
|
(((nessa!)))( so sorry for Bagel! poor dear!
|
 Nessa! I'll pray for Bagel! That's so hard. :(
Lori, congrats on your BP being down! Isn't that so much fun? After being 170/120 for the longest time, mine is finally down around 114/76 and it makes me quite happy! I feel better, too! |
Nessa - so sorry to hear about bagel. I hope it isn't anything complicated.
With a name that cute.... |
I am so sorry to hear about poor Bagel.
It's been raining all day and the pool is just about overflowing but the storm has almost left us here. We were very lucky. The yellow bands came very close to us but missed us so it wasn't the high winds and really heavy rain that it could have been. I feel for all the people in Galveston, Houston and other areas where the damage was substantial. I had my assistant come over early to beat the worst of the storm. She brought her twins so all three boys played while we worked for 8 hours straight. It was so late then that I ended up grabbing pizza. I hope my weight doesn't go up too much from that. |
Morning Ladies!
Nessa hope all goes well today at the vet, many hugs and prayers. Well I think we have found a new house, we have been calling for a couple of weeks trying to reach this guy and just happened to drive by and he was working on tearing off the roof to replace it. He let us look at it and I am about 95% sure we are going to take it. He is in the process of replacing the roof and putting in a new furnace (which will make the house total elec, thank goodness!) so it won't be ready for a couple of weeks which is fine because I will have a chance to sort and throw out stuff. Laundry on tap today along with a bit of cleaning and some grocery shopping then I think I will start on the closets. Have a great day ladies! |
Good Sunday morning!
It's going to be a nasty hot, humid day today. I'm having coffee out on the sunporch, and I can feel it already. Too bad Jake closed the pool already. :( We'll be watching Amber & Tyler this afternoon while DS & DIL go out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary. I want to get in a visit to Mom & Dad today, too, and the ever present laundry has to get done. Nessa, I'm sending up prayers for Bagel. |
Oh, Nessa, so sorry to hear Bagel is not doing well. Having a baby sick is so horrible. My thoughts are with you at this very difficult time.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, all!! It ended up being an ok day! The workshop let out early since we skipped lunch to finish up. (7 hours without eating gave me indigestion something fierce, but a couple of tablets cleared that up) When I got home I worked on grading papers and posting grades. I had been given the wrong password and was finally given a good one, so I had weeks of grades to post. Got that done, then we went out to eat and I got my same sesame tuna salad, but was bad and got a dessert which I split with everyone. Then my husband reached under the table and pulled out a box with a gorgeous soft black gown. It is "ME"...he knows me so well. It is made of a very very soft "t-shirt" material, but sexy too. I was surprised cause we had already decided on the gym membership for me. The gym opens at 5, so I can just go there before work....workout, steam, shower and get to work on time. Great way to start the day and won't have to take time in the evenings to work out which I hate. Hoping TK is ok. She may be without power for a while. Found out my BIL, SIL and MIL's house is ok other than a fence down, blown out window and a few shingles..so that was great news. MIL will probably stay with us till they have power on...so may be at least a week or so. I'm so happy she is here, but not under these circumstances. |
Good morning all, Feme, glad everything is alright with the il's houses!
So I'm starting to regret having my son take out the good A/C the other night, last night I was sweating so bad I hoped into the shower. This place heats up like a car does on a sunny day with all it's windows rolled up! OK< off to church this morning, thinking to try Sunday School today. have a good one! |
We did go to the picnic yesterday and the kids had a blast, although it was hot as blazes and very humid and I was pretty beat by the end of the day. At least it was warm enough for them to enjoy the water park. On the way home we stopped and had dinner at Sakura, and I had the veggie dinner and ate most of the lobster tail from DD's dinner, which she didn't like with their sauce on it. Food at the picnic was not great. I knew from last year that most of it would not be on plan, so I ate a big breakfast and took some snacks for me, but I was counting on them having veggie burgers there - they did, but they were out by the time I got to them. So I ate a little pulled pork and brisket for the protein. Well, can't call it an on-plan day, but I did the best I could and this morning the scale is down some for my monthly post-TOM loss. I am going to wait a few days before I change the ticker and see what the real total is - I think I must be retaining some water from yesterday, and I'm hoping for more poundage.
Today I need to catch up on chores around here and make the kids do the same. Maybe dinner with friends, crabs if I can talk them into it (shouldn't take too much talking). That won't help with the water retention issue, but I'll drink it off over the next few days. I booked the trip to Orlando, so I also need to work on organizing the details. It's only a month away. I'm excited, I love the parks!! Cat, late Happy Birthday to you!!! Nessa, thinking of you and poor Bagel this morning. I have been through that a couple of times and it is a very hard thing. |
Good morning!
Steph, congrats on finding a house! Cottage, hope you don't have to do too much running in the sticky heat today! Cat, glad to hear you had a good birthday! What a wonderful surprise from DH! Lori, enjoy church and SS. Let us know how it was. Schmoodle, simulpost! Hope you have a great day! The rain woke us today, around 4:45. After about 15 minutes, then both of us had to pee from listening to all the water coming down against the window. Tommy stayed up, but I went back to bed and now here I am. Down another couple of pounds again. I'm surprised, but I'll take it. My body has transformed a LOT with the last 7 lbs I've lost. I need to start toning again, because the layer of fat that was always covering all my muscles is almost gone, at least in my mid-section. I think I'll always have saddle-bags, but I've never been too worried about what my legs/hips look like. It's going to rain all day today. Ike has arrived! This is the first time I can remember that a hurricane has made it all the way up here (even if it is only a tropical depression now) still in its hurricane shape. Usually it's just occasional rain showers and that's it. Ike was a biggie! All I plan to do today is finish my book, re-paint my toenails, give myself a mini-manicure, and run to get that top from Kohls. Think I'm going to make some tea. Even though I got up 2.5 hours after Tommy did, I'm still yawny and groggy. Hope you girlies have a great day!!! Lisa |
love you all. BIL and FIL are on the way to help me take him to the vet.
IF only he knew what we were going for. ugh. |
Good morning everyone!
The weekend was boring as usual, and spent yesterday night and this morning eating a whole jar of peanuts.. I may have to go back to Phase 1 for a couple days to make up for it. Other than that, I've been depressed and bored and those two combos lead to binges for me. Hopefully I won't binge anymore today. |
Nessa  I feel for you.
Weezle Ike has arrived here as well, there is a big limb blocking the alley way but I don't feel like going out and moving it yet. I did Yoga this morning and am feeling relaxed, I decided to forgo going to church this morning since the wind is blowing so strong. We got videos last night to watch and it just going to be stay at home day. Hope everyone is doing well. BF house no windows were broke, they do not have power but everyone is okay. Hope TK is okay as well. Have a good Sunday |
Weezle, went back and read posts I missed. That shirt looks great!!!
|
Lady Nessa, I'm so sorry about poor Bagel. Poor puppy. I hope that when you get to the vet, the doc says it's treatable and you go home happily and Bagel with a doggy biscuit...
Price of gas thing: The past two days have been insane in my county. The word spread that everyone was raising their gas to nearly $5 whereas it has been 3.89 I think. (I'm not completely sure.) Anyway, one store stayed the same price, so people started lining up to get gas. As a result, literal FIGHTS broke out and arrests were made. This is madness. Now the place where the fights broke out say they are nearly out of regular gas and this makes two days in a row. Huh?? It's crazy. |
back from the vet
he's keeping bagel a few days but the forms are ready to be signed. |
Nessa, I'm thinking of you and Bagel.
|
It's official, I am a SB dork.
I have been printing off recipes and trying them. The ones that I keep making over and over, the papers are getting very dirty, smudging, etc. So, I had a bright idea. I printed them off again, cut them out and taped them to 4X6 index cards. But I didn't stop there. I went to the dollar store, bought cute, bright pink mini photo albums that hold 4X6 pictures and put my recipe cards in there. Now I have a quick reference guide for my tried and tested recipes. I almost filled up the book, so I need to go back and get a few more! So, it's official, I have crossed the line into dork territory now. |
:welcome: to dorkiness!
|
I hope everything is okay Lady Nessa.. :)
Jenksihere, that's actually a really good idea. I should do that. It's a pain to run back and forth from the kitchen to the computer where I've got recipes saved. BTW: lovely pic! :) |
Thanks Mel. I was playing around with different pictures, the ones i have all all too big and I was getting a nice zoomed in picture of my double chin!!
Then it hit me.... my new pink book!! Perfect picture! So, that is my new avatar. My new pink book... the one that made me a dork. |
I don't think your a dork! I think your brilliiant! I love collecting recipe's, but mine are on printed paper and scattered abroad, never making their way to my binder I started! now who's the dork!
Wasn't able to make Sunday School, but I did go to church, message was good, got more information on the women's bible study but it doesn't start till October. Met several more people. Of course, the size of that church I"ve met almost everyone. Enjoying a nice salad right now, and need to make sure I have lettuce on hand at all costs! Last week I ran out, and boy o boy, I sure missed my salad! hhhmmm, does that make me a "sb dork?" |
Jelly, a whole jar of peanut butter? You should be allowed 2 tbs a day... eating more of that will surely sabotage your weight loss journey. I think peanuts are a no-go for you. You like them too much!
|
Yeah earlier I was thinking about digging into the smuckers jar but then declined. Why is it that the natural PB tastes so much more delicious to me? I understand where Jelly is coming from.
Yay, I'm already undoing the effects of my couple-of-week binging, got on the scale and 1 lb down of the 4 I gained recently. |
Hi all- its few and far between when I try to post in the dailys- I do read them but my memory is so bad most of the time trying to give everyone a shout is hard~! But, I have some time to spare today so I figured, heck- Want yall to know I keep up with ya!
Cat- Happy Bday!(late is better than never right?!) Nessa- I feel for you... I will be praying for Bagel... UM, whos next... Ruth- how do you do your basil? I have a ton and would love to save some for winter! weezle- love the top! and congrats on the lbs down! whoohoo! pearlrose-congrats on doing a great p1! feels good , eh?! zeff- that orange marmalade bread sounds delish! and EVIL! ;) Loriann- congrats on your bp! Thats awesome!!! sunshine- wtg on picking up and dusting off! resist the popcorn!! schmoodle- congrats on planning a vaca- thats the best~! jenski- I am a bigger dork for not having any of mine organized- I print off a million and maybe use 1 out of every 100!lol For everyone else... Hi! Hope everyone is having a Fab weekend! I am still waiting on some cooler weather- Ike is here as well, not a ton of rain, yet, but lots of wind! Gouging gas is a problem here too- I saw it for 4.799 at 3 gas stations and then less than a quarter mile up the road it was 3.69. REDICULOUS! I waited though and ended up paying 4.199 yesterday which I think is the most I have ever paid. it was only 3.479 the last time I got gas before Ike. I am sooo ready for the fall! I am ready for crisp cool breezes and windows open! too muggy now for all that... I think I may try to find a great fall-smelling candle to burn today... maybe make something with some pumpkin in as well :) Hope everyone has a great one! SOrry if I forgot anyone! |
Rdw1, I pick off the leaves of my basil and shop them up with my mini food processor, adding a bit of olive oil. Then I pack it into ice cube trays and freeze, popping out into a ziplock bag when frozen. I use just enough oil to stick the leaves together.
Just had a lovely Sunday afternoon nap and am puttering around in my kitchen. It's very strange outdoors - sunny, hot and muggy with gusts of strange wind. We are supposed to have the remains of Ike by now but not much is happening. I was expecting a downpour by now. Maybe he got held up at the border by a sniffer dog! |

RDW1- that is what I've been doing. Making fall-ish things and hoping that the weather will follow suit. I heard that a cold front is supposed to be moving in after the hurricane....I'm keeping my fingers crossed. DH keeps bugging me to make a roast, but with it so hot, I'm not about to spend 3 hours with the oven on. |
Howdy Chickies!! Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
Nessa...my thoughts/prayers are with you and Bagel right now...I know how difficult this time is for you Cat...Happy late birthday!!!!! Glad to hear that the IL's didn't have much damage!! It's been interesting reading about the different gas prices where all you gals are. This morning I tried to fill up and had to go to 3 different gas stations before I could even find ANY gas!!! Two were completely out and the 3rd was running out rapidly. The news people have been asking people not to panic..but I guess they aren't listening. Then after finding gas...I ventured to the grocery store. Had to go to 3 stores before I could find anywhere with celery!! I was amazed (and using up that precious gas) haha... It's been a somewhat productive weekend. Put my fence back up yesterday...2 different sections fell with the winds from Ike...finally getting into some sunshine this afternoon...but checking the radar and more rain is knocking on my door....but YAY...it's with a "cool front" WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOrry I've been a little out of touch....I have been skimming through the posts, but haven't made the time to post. Tomorrow I'm restarting on Ph1 for at least a week to try and reverse all of the terrible cravings I have brought on myself. Not to mention my stomach is back to being the terrible beast it once was!! Just goes to prove that eating healthy is the only way to eat!! I have one question...and I think I already know the answer. Since rum is a no-no...I'm assuming that marinating fish/shrimp/scallops in coconut rum then put on the grill is a no-no as well??? That's one of my favorite things to cook!! Toodles for now! |
Mandyleigh, I think your fish would absorb too much sugar from the rum, but it wouldn't hurt for a once-in-a-while treat. It sounds delicious!
--------------------------------- For freezing basil, I wash the leaves and when they're thoroughly dry, I just pack them into freezer bags. I've done it that way for years. And for tomatoes, I just pop them into the freezer whole. They're not good for much but soups or casseroles, but it's an easy way of freezing them. |
Quote:
I hope the grocery stores around here restock soon! Our frozen veggies are almost gone and the canned that we had for Gustav are gone as well. I want some fresh broccoli! |
yikes- we are far from the storm, I am about to go grocery shopping- hope we have fresh veggies- thats at the top of my list!!!
Ruth- that is a fabulous idea!!!!! I don't have a mini food processor but have been wanting one for some time now- this may be a good excuse to buy one! :) Do you think if I repot them into a smaller pot and bring them in they would survive inside during the winter and keep reproducing? I love my fresh pomodoro sauce! But, I am sure I could use the ice cube method too for most of them, it would be nice to have fresh all year round though! |

I don't think it would be a problem for you. |

Had a hard time today finding something to wear tomorrow. Went to Kohls, and they only had 1 of that top in stock, and it was an XL. D'oh. So I looked around for some petite gray dress pants. Their petite section was awful, so after finding nothing else like what I was looking for, I went to Gordman's.
I wandered around Gordman's looking for anything professional but not, well, cheap looking. Couldn't find a top I liked so I went hunting for their petite section. After wandering around for 10 minutes or so, I asked one of their associates. They apparently didn't sell the petite clothes they used to have, so they got rid of their petite section completely. Sigh. Off to Old Navy I went! So I wandered around there looking for some petite dress pants, and the only pants in petite that I could find were jeans, so I asked one of THEIR associates. They got rid of all their short-length pants too, except jeans. Have to order them online if you want them short. Apparently short people are not allowed to wear pants in this town. I decided I have a really nice pair of dress khaki pants at home, so all I needed was the top half. I ended up getting a light pink lace cami with light pink button down shirt, and a brown cardigan to go over it all. I posted their pictures separately. It's not a SUPER professional outfit, but it still looks nice enough. Nessa, more prayers for you and Bagel. |
I like it, it's really cute! It is dressy enough but still has a sexy flair. Nice!
That sucks about the fresh veggie shortage, guys. I have to have my fresh cauliflower. I'm roasting some as we speak. |
