Thanks! It sounds great. I'll have to put it on my list of things to make soon.

zeff That recipe is so simple and adaptable. I use it all the time. I vary the beans - refried pintos, refried black beans, un-smooshed beans, or a combo thereof, and I add lots of different veggies. I love it with zucchinni and green peppers. And if I've made tacos for the kids and have some meat leftover, I throw that in too.

Are you going to make DH run out looking for refried beans and Rotels tonight?:D

Kierie
the lentils sound good. I am trying to expand my lentil repertoire. Let us know!

Nessa the coffee syrup run is a great idea! I'm game. Did you see my post the other day about the Mason Dixon Dragway?

Gonna, hope nothings wrong! I love your pants avatar too. It took me a while to figure it out though!

Probably ;)

He is getting good at this though, he calls on his way home from work and asks if I need him to pick up anything.

btw, I found a really great idea for making iced coffee yesterday. Grind a pound of coffee beans, pour into a large pitcher - fill with warm water, cover with a towel and let steep for 12 hours or so on the counter. Strain into a pitcher with a lid. Store in the fridge.

I thought it would be great with some milk and a pump or two of the syrups we've been talking about so much lately.

zeff, that's basically how I make my coffee concentrate with my Toddy. I am too lazy to make my own coffee fresh when DH is away so I keep a pitcher of this in the fridge. In the morning I just add water and zap, but it's really convenient for my afternoon iced latte too. It's less bitter and acidic than hot brewed coffee too.

I'm afraid to make it, I think I'll drink way too much. I've done quite well avoiding coffee and have kept it down to a cup or two per week.

I LOVE Refried Bean Soup! I can't wait for it to get really cold so I can thoroughly enjoy it. I make it super spicy. For WW Combo doers, 1 cup of it is 1 point. I usually just have 2 cups of it and I'm good to go with a salad or side veggie.

Gonna make that pie tonight. I'll let you guys know how it tastes!

Cat -- those puppies are just too cute.

Zeff/Schmoodle -- that is pretty much how I make my coffee too. I don't have a toddy but I have a gallon jug I use. That is the very best tasting coffee ever. It is so concentrated that you can use it for flavors too. I like to take 1/2 cup ricotta cheese, 1/ 2 c coco, pkg or 2 of splenda and a couple of tablespoons of coffee concentrate as a desert. very good stuff.

Geez..you guys are so cosmopolitan with your coffee!

Beach, glad you like the pics. Wish that was me in the waders and under the umbrella, but that's my baby boy and his precious girlfriend. they found all manner of things to keep busy during and after the storm. The pics with the blankets all over the room is my son's room. They decided to build a tent during the storm and stayed under there for hours along with his girlfriend's cute little dog. Then after the storm they spent days listening to the radio for news of "free stuff". They would go stand in long lines and collect free stuff then drive all over handing it out to people they go to church with who needed things after the storm, especially elderly people and people with babies when they were handing out diapers and formula. It kept them busy to not think about the heat and did good for people who could not get out.

My neighbors got their power on tonight. yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cat - you've got me wanting one of those puppies. DH is going to ban me from this website. It costs us too much money!

I decided to make a week's worth of dinners from "Super Suppers" - an assemble and go place for after the baby is born. Not quite as inexpensive as cooking, but definitely cheaper than going out. Most dishes are around $12 for 3 servings and double for 6 servings. Maybe I'll put that on my list of stuff I want for my shower. They also have breakfasts and sides, but it isn't that difficult to steam some veggies or throw together a salad. I just don't want to have to actually cook when I'm trying to get re-aquainted with breastfeeding.

Speaking of breastfeeding - a new la leche league chapter opened in our town! Just in time!
