Actually, you'll find that even though the trend when we were younger was just the opposite of SBD (lots of processed carbs and low fat), what they found was that didn't work! The food pyramid/FDA have been promoting Phase 2 of SBD (basically) for a couple years now, and people are talking more and more about the need to eat this way for health if not for fitness. Whole grain has become a household word in the four years since I started SBD, and there has been more and more about healthy oil, avoiding trans fats, and the need to exercise. I find that most of my friends who are trying to eat more healthy are actually trying to eat more like SBD. So I think it's a shame your friend hasn't figured it out...but with your help, maybe she will! :D
