Nuts- The list says "dry roasted recommended". So does that mean we can't have the ones cooked in oil? I don't think that the grocery store I shop at has dry roasted ones.
Beans- Are we only allowed 1/2 cup a day? Or can we have more than that?
Is store bought hummus ok on this diet?
Thanks!!

to South Beach, luv2bmommy! Although the dry roasted nuts are recommended, it's ok to have the regular kind, too. It's just that the ones cooked in oil are higher in calories. It's suggested to start with 1/2 cup beans a day, especially if you're not used to eating them often, because of their sometimes unpleasant "side-effects." If they don't bother you, go ahead and eat as much of them as you wish. And lastly, yes, store-bought hummus is allowed. You can find a complete, up-to-date list of both Phase 1 and Phase 2 foods in our FAQ section.
