did anyone feel sick in the first few days??

Hey,
I'm on day 3. I feel lighter and have more energy, but am feeling sick to my stomach. Anyone has the same experience? Does this just pass or should I just get used to it?

Thanks!
PS, how do I get a cool goal/weight tracker things?

Hello, vkbangus, and welcome!!

There may be several reasons for feeling sick. It is common for people to get what is known as SB Flu, but if you're eating the right foods, you really shouldn't feel this way. Maybe you could post a typical days' menu and one of the SB Vets could break it down and give you some tips.

About the tracker, up in the left-hand corner, there is a tab marked "User CP", click it and then click on "Edit Signature". Up will pop a sample tracker. Just click on that, edit your tracker, and then copy and paste the code to the "Edit Signature" text box that will be under the sample tracker and instructions. Just don't forget to save after you preview it!!

I think your signature isn't enabled until you've got 30 days and 30 posts though. Here's some info:

I think you are right about the 30 days/30 posts, b/c there is no edit signature option.

My typical day has looked like:

breakfast: 2 eggs, sprinkled with cheese, ( today added 1-2 Tbsp of lowfat cottage cheese) - reg coffee, with alittle fat free 1/2 and 1/2 and 1% milk

Lunch: turkey lunch meat and WW String cheese sticks

Dinner ( last night was bad b/c we were at a cub scout's crossover ceremony and they served leftovers fromt he camping trip - Yick!! - I ate some sliced turkey, about 5 meatballs, and a bunch of broccoli. Usually eating a chicken breast and some salad.

where did you get your info about what SBD is? that's NOT SBD at all

you need
beans
you need dairy
you need a MINIMUM of 4.5 cups of veggies every day!

I did South Beach / Low Carb a few years ago, and now i'm just going by the list of approved foods. I can find my old book. I have the new one reserved at the library.

I hate beans. I added 1/2 cup of spinach to my eggs yesterday. The nihgt before I had a huge salad with turkey taco meat on it. I forgot, I also had a big leafy green salad with avocado on it nad slices of turkey meat.

I just went to the store yesterday. I bought more veggies and lean lunch meat nad good meats for dinner from the butcher.

Is Nessa short for Vanessa - My family used to call me Ness or Nessa. Seeing you name brought back all sorts of memories.

can anyone elaborate on the SB flu? I haven't heard of that before - yes I am a newbie ;-)

I'd up your veggies intake - try to include a bunch with each meal. I find it's nice to scramble in some veggies when making eggs. I'd also try to eat a nut snack once a day.

Also this isn't a "low carb" diet, it's a Good Carb diet! Make sure you're not cutting out the good carbs too, because that's not South Beach!

:welcome: to 3FC and to The Beach. Yes, you need 30 days and 30 posts befroe you can get a ticker or post links.

Your meal plan looks like Atkins, not South Beach. :yikes: The "South Beach" flu is usually from carb withdrawal. You need 4½ cups of veggies and 1½ cups of dairy daily. Please check out the Phase I Food List in the FAQ Section of The Beach.

hi vk, if you don't like beans try lentils/pulses instead, they will have the same positive effect on your blood sugar. also a tall glass of lofat milk is quicker fixer-upper. u should feel better after a couple days when u've readjusted ur diet to accommodate veggies and such...

vkbangus 05-21-2008 05:37 PM

thanks all. I had a big salad with deli meat for lunch. It really felt and tasted good. I had natural peanut butter ( I love smuckers!! ) and celery and then a reduced fat cheddar cheese stick.

I'm feeling better. I'm hungry again.
I really wanted to attack the frozen chocolate chip cookie dough that is in my freezer, so I got out of hte house and took my dog for a walk. It worked!

I have a pork roast covered in garlic in the oven w/ asparagus w/ olive oil, garlic and alittle parm cheese.
It smells soo good, I can't wait to eat.

sometimes THIRST is mistaken for hunger.... that pork roast sounds yummy!
