The Weekend Cluckings

Good morning!

I'm about to grab breakfast (wish I had a Nessa bar!) and head over to the Church. The Sale starts at 8 but I have pots pf perennials to re-arrange and just know there will be more baking arriving which will need to be priced. The earlybirds (Seagulls!) will be there before eight and I need to be ready. I'm tired this morning after a busy week but will definitely nap this afternoon AFTER I print tomorrow's Church Bulletin!

We have the beginning of the summer tourists this weekend so should have a good crowd for the baking. (It's Victoria Day weekend.)

Have a lovely Saturday! If you need busywork, come and clean up my kitchen!

CyndiM 05-17-2008 06:54 AM

Good morning Ruth! I wish I could come to your perennial sale. I'm always looking for a few new things to add to my beds.

I've got asparagus ends in the dehydrator and asparagus in the fridge to prep for freezing. Guess what I'm also having for breakfast?! Every year I try to get sick of asparagus before the season ends but it never happens ;)

Looks like a drippy weekend here. Perfect for keeping us from getting too distracting from the household tasks at hand. Lots of vacation prep since we are bringing most of our own food, along with the usual weekend stuff. I do hope I can get into the garden a little and out to mow some of th lawn jungle. I have Monday too so I might get lucky.

I've got a full pot of Love Buzz on and you're all welcome to a cup :coffee2:

cottagebythesea 05-17-2008 06:59 AM

Jake wants to go out for bagels this morning, so I'll either have a pumpernickel or whole wheat one with light cream cheese. :( That means no more grains for the rest of the day for me, but I do love my bagels.

We're going to Trader Joe's for a big shop, and afterwards stopping at the garden center for some flowers for my pots on the back patio. The sun is going to play hide-and-seek, but I should be able to get everything planted.

I hope you have fun at the Sale, Ruth. Tell you what, I'll come help you clean your kitchen, then you can come help me clean mine. ;)

cottagebythesea 05-17-2008 07:01 AM

Enjoy those fresh asparagus, Cyndi! I think I'll pick up some today while I'm out. :)

ladybugnessa 05-17-2008 07:22 AM

good morning chickies

ruth good luck with your sale
cyndi i too love asparagus
and Cottage... OMG I will give up all my grains for a bagel in the morning.. I've done it twice since i started counting clean days... seems to be working

we had a nice time out last night went to hear a band down in Fredrick MD.

hubby had a gall bladder attack so we were home earlier than planned...

I saw the gastro doc yesterday... he gave me something for the spasms of my intestines... i did not know I could go potty so much (and the scale is a whopping 217.6 because of it... there's NOTHING left in me... i feel like i'm doing a colon cleanse) he ordered a CAT scan for monday morning OH JOY! basically he's pretty sure that YES I do have IBS but we have to rule out all the other stuff....

oh and the MRI shows that I DO have a small tear in the meniscus of my left knee but my internist called me and told me "DO NOT LET THEM FIX IT" because I have NO PAIN in the knee.....
<deep sigh>

today is doing laundry and cleaning the house and DH is going racing in NJ....

tomorrow is a big costco shop!

Schmoodle 05-17-2008 08:21 AM

good morning chicks, what nice days you have planned! For me I will be cleaning the bedrooms with the help of the kids (unwilling I'm sure). They're really getting out of hand (the rooms, not the kids). I also want to finish getting the winter clothes packed and in the attic. DS has horseback riding and DD has a birthday party in the afternoon. Tonight we plan to watch the Indiana Jones marathon, as they've never seen the movies and want to go see the new one when it comes out. The scale is my friend this morning, 2 lbs. down, so I can finally show a loss for May. :carrot: Hmmm, clean eating = scale happiness, go figure.

Zeff
, congratulations to you, DH, and Calvin!
Nessa, don't you dare come up here again without giving me a call!
cottage, mmm, bagels. I haven't had one since SBD started. We used to have a great bagel place, but since we moved I haven't found one around here, probably all for the best...
Cyndi, where are you going on vacation?
Have a good day at the sale Ruth.

ladybugnessa 05-17-2008 08:32 AM

Schmoodle we went to Griff's Landing...

Schmoodle 05-17-2008 08:42 AM

Nessa, I haven't been there, did you like it? That downtown area is kind of fun. Several good restaurants. Reminds me a little bit of Annapolis without the harbor.
You were only about 10 miles from me. If you come up again and want to get together for a drink, let me know.

ladybugnessa 05-17-2008 08:51 AM

THE FOOD WAS AWESOME..... i had the grilled portabello mushrooms stuffed with lump crab imperial.... and then blackened shrimp (spicy) ceasar salad...

small and crowded and i wore a shirt that was too big so with my push up bra i was all boobies.. i am sure no one was sure out of the six people (2 women 4 men) who was married to who....

femmecreole 05-17-2008 08:53 AM

Morning everyone. Kind of rushed trying to get some work done so I can go play this afternoon and go to a friend's photography exhibit.

For all the horrid weather we had this week, this morning is just gorgeous and kind of cool.

I did something absolutely unthinkable yesterday afternoon. It was nasty outside and I don't cook on fridays and my husband said "I sure would like a hot dog from sonic" (he is a hot dog freak) I don't know why but I said "I want one too, with chili, cheese and onions". He looked at me like I was nuts, but got me one anyway. And then I ate the thing, white bun and all. Have to admit it was awesome. Then I promptly fell asleep for 5 hours. We laughed that it put me in a "weenie coma" and now when I die I'm going to go to "South Beach ****" for commiting that sin. So, I guess that was my cheat for the week...or maybe for the month!

ladybugnessa 05-17-2008 09:06 AM

or maybe the year CAT... "weenie coma" i like that.

Pearlrose 05-17-2008 09:10 AM

Good morning Chickies,

Ruthie have fun at your sale, sounds like fun even though it is busy.

Cottage enjoy your bagel and have fun at Trader Joe's, thought I was going to get a chance this week to go but they moved the meeting that was by it. I have to back track if I want to go to Trader Joe's and with the construction they have going on the hwy I am just not motivated to go out of my way.

Cyndi enjoy your morning sorry the weather is not nice, we finally are in a good weather pattern and woke up to beautiful day, makes you smile when you wake up.

Schmoodle, congrats on the weight loss you are my inspiration that the scale will start moving back down for me- right now I am just stuck in an up and down cycle and I am back to weighing every day because not weighing in for about three weeks and just going by clothes was not a good thing for me : (

Nessa, I hope that all your medical issues clear up- if your knee joints are bothering you might want to go to Walmart and buy some Hyaluronic Acid or HLA, it really works....my right knee has bothered me on and off for years and then I heard a doctor talking about it and got the free month bottle they were trying to sale, it was a bit expensive but I found the supplement at Walmart- I just take one capsule a day and my knee no longer hurts and it has been a year since I started taking.

Cat have a wonderful day today.

Today we are going to goof off and enjoy the outside since the weather is so nice. I have been cleaning house so don't really have much to do and got the groceries on Thursday night so I can enjoy and not have errands to do.

zeffryn 05-17-2008 09:26 AM

morning girls. Woke up "in the mood"......to discover that DH let his friend crash on the couch last night. So much for that. :(

I have to get to Michael's this morning to pick up some stuff for Calvin's craft project this afternoon.

He's been eating pretzels non stop since we bought them at Sam's. They are for sure his favorite food. He gets a big grin and takes little licks....then crams the entire thing into his mouth.

Not sure what's for breakfast today....something easy, I suppose. I want to make more breakfast bars. I think I'll make nessa bars :) They provide a great breakfast, and I won't have to cook tomorrow morning!

cat - mmmmmm. I hate hot dogs usually, but I love me a chili cheese coney. Those commercials kill me!

hmacneil6 05-17-2008 09:59 AM

Morning Ladies! Hope this weekend finds you all well!
Ruth - I hope the sale goes well today. You've been working so hard I know the fruits of your labor will show. Enjoy your nap as well, you've certainly earned it!

Cyndi - I'm with you, I don't think I could ever get tired of asparagus. It's truly one of the "fruits of the gods." But I'm curious, why are you dehydrating the ends.....are you planning on using them later for soups? Just wondering....Have a good day getting ready to head out to Maine!

Cottage - I've played around with getting some bagels for breakfast, but I haven't done it yet. It sounds so good! Have fun at TJ's, don't go too crazy! And enjoy your time in the garden! Have a good one!

Nessa - Sorry to hear that your good time was cut short by your dh. Sounds like you were having a lot of fun last night. I hope you figure out all of your medical stuff soon, so you can really get back into the think of things.

Schmoodle - Crack that whip! Get those kids cleaning!!!! But how fun tonight, watching the Indiana Jones trilogy before the movie next week. That'll be a lot of fun! Do you have surround sound? Your kids should really like it! AND CONGRATS on your weight loss! Great job!

Cat - I LOVE the picture of the lilies in your album this morning, it's stunning! Thanks for sharing. And, I don't think your going to SBD ****.....purgatory, maybe, but not ****. We all have our flub ups every now and again. You've got to just make it work for you. Have a great Saturday.

Pearlrose - Sounds like you've got quite the carefree weekend ahead of you. I hope you enjoy it to the fullest!

Zeff - I don't know if you went back to yesterday's chat, but if you didn't....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Very exciting! Have a great Saturday, and don't go too crazy in the Michaels (that store can be crazy for me if I'm not being careful)

Me - Can I brag for a moment....Last night I was prepping for my catering today and I made over 100 mini cheesecakes. I was SO tempted to have one, every time I took them out of the oven or into the tupperware, I literally had to talk myself through not having one. And I was successful! I really feel good, and I feel like my cravings are totally under control. Today is all about catering the show. I still have to get a few more things together and then it's off to the gallery for 6+ hours. When I come home I plan on crashing on the couch and hopefully catching up on some TV w/ dh. I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!
ENJOY!!!!

zeffryn 05-17-2008 10:19 AM

Hmac - great job on avoiding the cheesecakes! That took some kind of willpower!

I have a huge problem with Michaels :) I always have to take DH with me and set a time limit. After that time is up, DH starts to whine and I start to want to leave to shut him up! I could spend hours (and hundreds) in that store.

Thank you for the congrats :)

I checked one of those due date calculators, and it looks like child #2 will be a Christmas baby. Due date is 12/25/08. Poor kid.

Kim_Star060404 05-17-2008 10:51 AM

Ruth: Enjoy the sale. I'd come clean your kitchen, but I've got my own to clean. It was misty all day yesterday and the dogs, well, weren't too kind to my freshly cleaned kitchen floor. Hope you have a great time visiting with everyone!!

Cyndi: Oooh, fun, vacation prep! I love getting ready for trips. Sounds like yours is going to be a blast and I can't wait to see pics. Enjoy your distractions today.

Cottage: Have fun shopping today. And enjoy your bagel!

Nessa: I'm hoping the meds the doc has given you help with the IBS and that it's verified soon. Enjoy your Saturday.

Schmoodle: Congrats on that scale movement! You're doing great! Hope the kiddos are cooperative with the cleaning. Enjoy your Indiana Jones marathon, DH and I may do the same thing.

Cat: Absolutely gorgeous pics, as usual! Your garden looks like the perfect place to spend a day lounging with a good book. I'm glad you enjoyed your hot dog. I love hot dogs as well. Good thing it's not something DH likes to eat that often or I'd be in bigger trouble than I already am!

Pearl: Have a fun day of goofing off!

Zeffryn: Sorry your morning didn't start out the way you planned...maybe DH can make up for it tonight. ;) Congrats to you and DH! I'm the same way about Michael's. Unfortunately, my little sister is a manager at a Michael's, and while her 40% discount is great, it eventually makes me spend more and then I can barely fit everything in the car for the 7 hour ride home!! Have a good day!

hmacneil: Congrats on avoiding the cheesecakes. Thank goodness I'm not a caterer or anything like that - even with a great P1, I don't know that I have the strength to ignore bite-sized cheesecakes! Hope the gallery is fun for you in spite of having to work and that the couch is nice and comforting when you get home!

Me: Sorry for being MIA this week. I've been doing the SB Walk of Shame. I won't go into details, but it did entail not working out and a tube of cookie dough. :o The past day and a half have been clean, which puts me back at the weight I was at the end of week 1, but I know I have reintroduced those cravings, so back to D1, P1 for me today. I have wiped the slate clean and will start again. 19 days until we leave for Myrtle Beach, so 14 days on P1 and 5 days for transitioning before we leave. Thank goodness I will be able to fill up on seafood and veggies while we're there.

Speaking of Myrtle Beach, I just got the last of my vacation clothes in the mail yesterday. I did my measurements before ordering and the website said to order size 20, well, being a size 22, I was skeptical, but I ordered them anyways. Well, they all fit! And I know it's not just that online store as the shorts I bought here in town are a size 20 as well. So, down 1 size...finally!!!

Okay, off to work. Not much going on today. Minor house cleaning, laundry and a bit of yard work. Tonight is taco bake for dinner and either an Indiana Jones movie marathon or our cooking shows. We'll talk it out later.

Hope everyone to come has a great Saturday!

~Kim

femmecreole 05-17-2008 12:08 PM

Zeff, I just "got it" on the new Cher Bebe....
Congrats!!!! And the great thing is that you can go through the summer without being miserable...it will be winter by the time you get er uh, "heavy".

zeffryn 05-17-2008 01:14 PM

I know, huh? I'm so excited. Calvin was born in June.....I had to suffer a little, but at least I didn't have to go through August or anything. ;)

weezle 05-17-2008 02:11 PM

HI GIRLS!

Sorry, I know, MIA, off the wagon, big schmuck right here, yes, I know. Sorry.

I've been SO BUSY! We have two travel parties next weekend, and we're going to get CLIA certified next weekend too. We are having some major success but it kind of hit a stand-still because we both were going PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH and then for about two weeks we went ehhhhhhhh. I'm tired. So it's back at it again full-force! Who wants to go on vacation? (Besides me.)

I'm a bit nervous because in 25 minutes I get my first..... gasp..... brazillian. I'm told there's some sort of numbing spray involved so I'm hoping that I don't die. I know, a lot of you have been through the agonizing "childbirth" thing so this is probably quite trivial to you, but I haven't, and I really hope that my 2nd pain gate works, because from what I understand, I'm going to need it. Honestly, I think a tattoo would probably be less painful. If I live through this, maybe I'll save up for one of those.

OH CRAP I'm so long-winded. Gotta go get.... sigh.... tortured. I just keep thinking of how happy I'll be this summer when I'm not wasting all kinds of time.

Schmoodle 05-17-2008 02:26 PM

cheesecakes and bagels and weiners, oh my!
The kids are being slippery this afternoon. We went up to get started on DD's room while DH was at his lesson to discover that the new hamster has new little hamster babies. So, I went online to see what one should do for hamster baby care and read that it's imperative to keep things peaceful and quiet and not disturb them or the mom might EAT THEM. So I made DD do some quiet cleaning in her room, but I guess vacuuming will have to wait. Now she's gone to her party, and I'm looking for DS to get him started, but he has pulled a disappearing act. I think he must be at the neighbor's house. Well, at least my room is very clean and I got the winter clothes all carried up to the attic. I will get those kids cornered eventually. So, anyone need a hamster?
It turned out to be a very nice day here, so we could have gone for our hike after all. Oh well.

Cat,
I'm surprised the wienie didn't make you ill! I love hot dogs, but even before SBD, I always felt a little sick after eating one.
pearlrose, enjoy your outdoors fun, and be patient, the scale will move for you.
hmac, avoiding 100 cheesecakes is VERY impressive. Hope all goes smoothly today. I'm sure your food will be a hit.
Hooray on the clothing NSV Kim! I think you guys should watch Indy. I will think of you tonight while we are watching it.

I need to figure out what's for dinner tonight. The movie starts at 6:30, so I am thinking finger foods for in front of the tube. And since I have been good all week, I get my weekly half of a dark chocolate bar. so excited!

Kim_Star060404 05-17-2008 03:29 PM

Schmoodle: DH and I will definitely be watching 2 and 3 tonight and 1 tomorrow after church. I'll be thinking of you and your gang as well.

Lisa:  We have missed you around here, but it seems like you're doing well! Two travel parties in one week must mean that the business is going well. Enjoy your torture - or at least the benefits afterwards!

Me: Well, laundry is still going, but the house is clean and I've got 30 minutes to take care of the bills before working out. Then it'll be more laundry, shower, make dinner and watch Indiana Jones!! A fun and productive day for DH and I.

zeffryn 05-17-2008 10:03 PM

Weezle - HAHA! That's so cute. How did the numbing spray work for you? I've found that it does absolutely nothing. I've done it with and without. I've also found that since having a baby, I can't do full brazillians. I have to do just regular bikini waxes and shave the rest.....sorry to get so graphic. I hope none of you are eating ;)

I have to start interviewing potential obstetricians soon. I really don't want to use the doctor that I used for Calvin. I don't really want a man digging around *down there* either. who knows. I have a list about a mile long of places I need to call. It won't be difficult to narrow the list down to a more manageable list of people to actually talk to.

Ruthxxx 05-18-2008 06:20 AM

Good morning! Yesterday's sale was just great and the weather cooperated for the morning. We got rain mid afternoon (the sale ended at noon) and it was a great excuse for a nap!

Today Hersh and I have Church and I'll plant the urns up there afterwards. My cousin Ian, his kids and grandson are coming mid-afternoon for tea. Luckily I saved some cookies from the sale.

Tonight will be Desperate Housewives and early bed.

That's my day and I like it!

cottagebythesea 05-18-2008 07:07 AM

I'm glad the weather cooperated and you had a great sale yesterday, Ruth. What kind of flowers are you planting in the church urns? I know you'll manage to make them look good, whatever plants you use. :) Have a nice visit with your cousin!

I had a pretty productive day yesterday, and our rain held off until last night. I still have some flowers to plant in my big ceramic planters on the front steps, but the pansies that are in there now still look so nice that I don't want to move them yet. I'll probably get to them in the next week, though, as pretty soon it will be too hot out there for the pansies. Jake bought a tomato plant to try an experiment. He's going to plant it upside down in a hanging planter. He saw a gardening program on TV about growing them that way and was pretty intrigued. Should be interesting!

Not a whole lot going on today. We have to run up to the pool place after breakfast, to get what we need to open the pool. It seems too early, but Jake wants to have it all ready for Memorial Day in case anyone wants to swim. Usually it's only the little ones, and they're only in long enough for their lips to turn blue! I'm looking forward to Caitlyn emailing me pictures of her proms today, too. She sent me a few on my phone, and she and Matt looked so nice! I bet they're both exhausted today, though, after having two proms back-to-back!

Natalie'sMom 05-18-2008 09:35 AM

Hi everyone! I started a nice, long post yesterday but I lost it when our internet went down -- frustrating! So, here I am again today, just to say hello!

We got our weeding done yesterday, and Natalie was a big help! Today we need to prepare our garden for our carrot and zuchini seeds, this is going to be our first attempt at gardening. I am excited!

My MIL is coming for brunch, and I was thinking of making the chicken fritata -- Natalie thought that was a funny word! And tonight we go to my parent's for dinner.

Gracie slept almost all the way through the night last night -- until 4:30! So, that's great. I only have a little over a week before I go back to work, so I'd love to be getting some good sleeps from her, ya know?

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Kim_Star060404 05-18-2008 09:53 AM

Morning everyone. It's a sunny Sunday here and looks like it will be a great day.

Ruth: I'm glad that everything went well at the sale. Your day sounds lovely and I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Cottage: DH and I have very differing opinions of whether or not we will ever have a pool. I love to swim, and he grew up on the beach, so I figure it would be a natural fit for us to put in a pool. Oh well, we'll see - we need to take care of more important things first. I've seen a few pics of people with upside-down tomatoes and it does look like they're pretty good producers. Let us know how it goes!

Natalie'sMom: Good luck with your gardening. It's so rewarding to eat vegetables that are homegrown. Enjoy your family time and your chicken fritata!

Me: I was able to accomplish everything I needed to yesterday, including some extras like ironing for the week, cleaning out the fridge, prepping my herb patch in the veggie garden for transplanting next weekend and preparing my Avon order. I feel very accomplished. :D Today I have NO plans, which is wonderful, but I may make my trip to the grocery store this afternoon instead of tomorrow just to get it over with. MIL may be coming this weekend, so I'll have to do little things around the house every night to make sure it's still this clean on Friday when she gets here.

Our garden is looking stunning. There are tons of little lettuces popping up, 17 bean plants (after thinning from 24), a lot of fennel, 6 summer squash plants and some green onions which are taking their time. In my herb garden, the basil, parsley and cilantro look great, I have to thin daily, but the rosemary and mint haven't sprouted yet. I know their germination time is not over yet, but I so badly want to see them!

Well, I'm going to work out and then start getting ready for church. I hope everyone else to follow has a great Sunday!

~Kim

hmacneil6 05-18-2008 10:25 AM

Good morning Ladies, Happy Sunday!
So glad to hear all is well with all of you. You all have done so well yesterday you deserve applause:cp: It sounds like everyone had a fantastic Saturday.

So I must confess.....I caved yesterday. I had one cheesecake while serving yesterday, and I also had 1 mini roast beef panini (on white bread), but other than that I was really clean. I figure if you have one little cheat every once in a while, and the cravings stay at bay, then you're ok.......right? What do you all think?

So today will consist of church this morning and then back to the gallery for day 2 of catering. Same food, so it won't be too bad. I'm hoping there's more people today. I need to get rid of this food!

Sorry for the lack of personal, but I've got to get moving.....Have a good one!
ENJOY!

Barb0522 05-18-2008 10:31 AM

Sorry I've been MIA lately. I had something every night last week and the days were busy too. Friday night I had three of the registration team over to my house to process paperwork. We made good progress and then at 10:30PM my wireless router died! We tried to get it working and gave up.

Yesterday I was at a Wood Badge staff development meeting all day (oh, Brian is on a canoeing campout on the Guadalupe river) and last night my friend and his wife who are helping with registration brought over a spare router they had and we got everything working again. It took several hours though. So I ended up staying up until 1:15 AM processing paperwork. I have to get back to it now since the t-shirt order is due on Tuesday. It is SO easy for the ones that registered online but the ones that handed in forms are missing information (like t-shirt sizes) and it is just a general mess!

I'm in class a half day every day this coming week but I think I only have stuff going on 4 nights.

Schmoodle 05-18-2008 10:50 AM

good morning chicks, I had a nice late lie-in this morning, and just had some of the Nessa bars I baked last night - dried cherries and pecans, sweetened with Gingerbread syrup, yum! DS has now discovered them too, so I am going to have to start making 3 batches at a time if I want to keep any for the week. The kids are "cleaning" their rooms right now, no escape for them this morning. When they get done we'll go visit my grandmother, then go for a swim, and hit Aldi's on the way home. We've watched the first two Indys and we may watch the third on Sci-Fi tonight.

Ruth, your day sounds loverly.
Hi weezle, hope you survived! How long does it last before you have to get it done again? Brazilian is with a landing strip, right?
Zeff, it's funny how many people go bare "down there" these days. When I was in my early 20's it was a very daring thing to do. Guess times have changed. Or maybe I hung out with a conservative crowd? Good luck finding the doc.
Hi cottage, be sure and share the pics. Let us know how those tomatoes do. I saw that method too and was curious, but I wondered, how does the dirt stay in? And how do the tomatoes feel about spending their lives upside down?
Hi Nat's mom, all this garden talk! I plan to get my tomatoes in next weekend. We just get seedlings. I know you'll be busy this week getting ready for work.
Kim, I am so jealous of your accomplishments and your garden. It must feel great to get to the end of your list. The kids loved Temple of Doom last night. They liked it better than Raiders because it had kids in it and was funnier.
hmac, I think you did fine. Just watch for those cravings, and if they appear you know what to do! Good luck getting rid of all the food today!
Glad you're doing well Barb. Hang in there, will things slow down soon?
Okay, I'm gonna go work for a while until the kids are done. Have a good one chicks.

Barb0522 05-18-2008 12:34 PM

schmoodle - I think things should slow down some after I get the t-shirt order in but right now I only have 300 boys registered so I'm going to need to make a big push to get to the 425 we need to break even. Once camp is over on June 21 and we've got everything back to the warehouse and the POD is picked up and the hay and all the other stuff, then life will be back to normal.

cottagebythesea 05-18-2008 02:07 PM

Schmoodle, I baked a batch of the Nessa Bars with dried cherries and pecans in it yesterday, too! We must have been on the same wave-length! :) I also tossed in some dried cranberries, apricots and sweetened mine with Amaretto syrup. I haven't eaten any yet, so I don't know how good they are. :D As for growing the tomatoes upside down, Jake is going to use one of those coconut type liners with a hole in the bottom. I don't understand how he's going to keep the soil in, but he claims he has it all figured out. ;) Landing strip, huh? I've never thought of it that way, but you're right! I have to admit that I've been shaving myself that way for the past 20 or so years, I guess before it even became popular. With a pool, it just made sense to me.

I'm enjoying a peaceful hour to myself before Andrea brings Tyler over for me to watch while she takes Amber shopping. He's such a happy little guy and so good, so watching him is a pleasure.
I spent a frustrating morning searching in several stores for beach theme related party supplies. Would you believe I couldn't find a thing! Maggie's class is going to celebrate her July birthday on Wednesday during their snack time, and I want to make "dirt" and "sand" pudding cups. I'm looking for miniature beach pails and shovels to serve them in, and little candy seashells and starfish. At least I found the gummi worms for the "dirt!"

I hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday afternoon and staying on track. I've been doing amazingly well so far this weekend, I'm proud to say.

Well, I survived! My girl used a numbing lotion, which I guess helped (she says it takes the edge off and is better than the spray because it soaks into the skin better) but I don't know because it was my first one. Not so bad! I'm such a trooper! Most of it was just a quick sting here and there. I'm quite happy with it, and it'll be 6-8 weeks before I have to shave again.

And.... I had assumed there would be some sort of landing strip involved (or a lightning bolt, exclamation point, something,) but I was wrong. I am naked as a jay bird. I know you all wanted to know that, but since the question was asked, I thought I'd answer it.

Travel business IS going well! We are well on our way to becoming comfortable, which is good, because I'm ready to be comfortable!!!! I went out and practiced the "being comfortable" thing today by taking the birthday money/gift cards I got last week and bought myself a ring, designer sunglasses, 3 shirts, and a ton of Clinique eye makeup.

Well, I need to dig around and find something to eat. We desperately need to go to the store but have to wait until Tuesday or so when we get our next check. All the extra cash means more eating out (thank you skinny boyfriend) which means more MOOOOOOOOOOOOing from me and also me not being quite as responsible with keeping tabs on the money. I used to be so good at not spending!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. GO CUBBIES! (Now that I've said that, we'll lose.) Talk soon!

Happy Sunday afternoon :)

I am drinking coffee trying to emerge from my "dessert coma". I found rhubarb at the market yesterday. I made compote with my dehydrated fall strawberries and some agave. I was saving it for dinner but after one spoonful I was a goner. Turns out it's really good scooped over some ff Greek yogurt. Not my usual mid afternoon snack though ;)

I must confess the asparagus did not make it into the freezer. In my defense there is still a little leftover grilled asparagus in the fridge. Oops. I'm in fresh spring produce heaven.

hmacneil - your willpower is astounding! I just don't cook things I really like because I'd have to try a bite, then another, then another....
I used to use the asparagus ends for soup stock, running them through the food mill. the clever people on the preserving food list dry theirs and then just powder the whole thing. Same net effect, no messy food mill or waste. Sounds good to me. I'm really trying to get the hang of the dehydrator. Seems like it will be great for ends and bits and for some veggie and fruits.

Kim - hey, you're back on track again and that's what counts. I noticed you've really been bumping up the exercise this month too - way to go :carrot: Ooohhh fennel, bet I can't grow that here but now I have to check!

Weezle - I've got two tattoos and had very little pain. My friend got one on her ankle though and almost passed out. If she'd gone first I wouldn't even have one ;)

 gardening chicks
I've been at it most of the weekend. Got my vegetable beds all cleaned up and ready to go and even moved one of the raised beds. Never put in a raised bed until you're sure it's the right location! That's a job.
Apparently you can transplant garlic. We must have left two heads in the bed last year but I want to use that bed for something else this year. I split them up and transplanted them and so far so good.

In the NSV category I was impressed to discover how much more stamina I have this year. I got so much done and still managed a bike ride in the afternoon. I'm sore today, but it's the good sore. Now that I'm almost at goal I'm working on fitness goals for the next six months. I think holding myself accountable and always working toward something will be helpful longterm.

Tonight I'm making taco bake for the first time! I'm almost embarrassed to admit it - does that mean I'm not a real 3FC SBDer?!

Have a good evening all!

It may be less since this is your first time. I've been having them done for 5 years or so, and even now can only get about 8 weeks out of one. Also, you won't stay completely bare for the entire 6 weeks. You'll start to get stubbly within 2 weeks or so, and get progressively longer.

Also, about the landing strip (or lightning bolt - whatever floats your boat).....just ask the waxer to give you one. They usually will make it perfect, edging it with tweezers. It's a bit more....hands on ;) but they look nice and make it less noticeable when you do start growing out a bit.

crap. I've never been this....in depth...on this board. I feel oddly candid. ;)

Glad you survived!
