Hi All:
I want to make sure I am doing something right. I have my Phase One plan on my fridge and under lunch and dinner I have the following listed under vegetables:
LUNCH
Vegetables: Minimum 2 cups.
We encourage you to include a serving of beans (1/3-1/2 cup) as part of your vegetables.
DINNER
Vegetables: Minimum 2 cups.
We encourage you to include a serving of beans (1/3-1/2 cup) as part of your vegetables.
So does this mean I am allowed from 2/3 to 1 cup of beans every day? Thus far, I have decreased my veggies to allow for beans if I add them (1.5 cups of veggies and 1/3 to 1/2 cup of beans). I just want to make sure I am not eating too many beans.
Thanks for the feedback.

sabby you should be eating 4.5 cups of veggies a day. I don't think you would take veggies away to add in beans - I don't
Ooooh, now I need clarification on this, too. I have also considered beans to be part of my vegetables.
I could be wrong but beans like red beans, black beans, navy, chickpeas, or refried beans I count as just beans and try to eat about 1/2 a cup a day. I don't always get them but if I am hungry I will do some kinda beans
I wouldn't count any of the above as a veggie though.
green beans I count as veggies.
Legumes shouldn't count as veggies as they are almost all carbs - GOOD and SLOW carbs though and absolutely necessary. Enjoy!
Wow thanks! All this time I had been subtracting from my veggie amount. I have to work hard to get it all in also.
Usually, I end up skipping the evening snack by eating dinner around 4 or 5. When you put two cups of veggies + meat + beans on a plate, it is a lot of food.
Thanks everyone.

Yes, the way it is written clearly states that the beans can be part of the veggies. But since I value those with more experience than me, I will error the other way.
