Tt's the Weekend on the Beach!

HAPPY GROUNDHOG'S DAY! I don't know if Puxatawny Phil has seen his shadow or not, but either way we still have 6 more weeks of winter ahead. ;)

I slept in and am just sitting here enjoying my coffee and thinking about what we're going to do today. I have a feeling DD and the girls will come out for the day, that would be nice. I should drive over there to visit them, but I'm beginning to hate that drive on the expressway.

What are your plans for the day?

femmecreole 02-02-2008 08:04 AM

I didn't even realize today was Groundhog's Day. We have a nutria we go by here (Pierre C. Shadeaux) but I haven't seen what he had to "say" about when spring will be here yet.

I got up early to get some work done, had a couple of cups of coffee and did my fluidity exercises. whew. No idea what is on the books for the rest of the day...and no idea what we will eat today either. Guess we'll just play it by ear. My husband and Mom are still asleep and son is off somewhere...nice and quiet.

I tried a black bean brownie recipe last night that turned out very good. posted it in the black bean brownie thread.

GONNABE165 02-02-2008 08:20 AM

Good Saturday Ground hog morning!!!!

Got the fur baby to the barber shop for his bath haircut & teeth clean then it's off to the grocery store for this weeks food and we will end it with a trip to the mall to pay some cc payments and for me to look for a black dress shirt.

It's aweful cold here this morning sure hope it warms up

Whats going on in your day????

tammie00 02-02-2008 08:49 AM

I am just waking up. Good Morning and Happy Groundhogs Day!!

I think we are going to take the kids to the zoo today.

Coffee...Need Coffee

I am going to be brave a try the SBD belgian waffle this morning for breakfast.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Tammie

little chick 02-02-2008 08:54 AM

Morning chicks, again another quickie, it seems that is all I have time for. We got the rain and freezing rain last night, they cancled dance to I didn't have to go work the office. DD's stayed at the great grandmothers last night with thier grandmother and cousin. DH just went to town to pick them up then back to get me so we can go to town and get this weeks food supply. Have not been eating that great so I need a kick in the pants and get moving. Well I have to dash and hit the shower I promised I would be ready when he got home. I think we may go to a friends house as well for coffee/tea and a visit. Take care and have a great day.

Morning gals!

Happy Saturday. :) I am sitting enjoying my coffee watching CNN in silence! The girls spent the night at my mom's last night. Rob had to work, so I had a lovely quiet, boring evening to myself. It was great and I feel very rested today.

Cottage You and your kids are so much like my mom and I. We spend time together doing "whatever" as often as we can.

LC You can do it girl!!

Femme Something tells me that you will come up with something tasty to eat. You always cook the yummiest sounding things.

Gonna Good luck on your quest for the perfect black shirt!

Tammy Let us know how the waffle turns out. I haven't tried that one yet.

Me- Going to go get the girls in a bit- we promised them a trip to IKEA. Abigail LOVES IKEA. We drop her off in the playland and then pick her up for the $1.99 swedish meatball lunch. She is a crack-up. After that, just home for naps and cleaning.

Things are not good at all here on the marriage front. Please pray for us. I am trying very hard to keep my head up and stay strong for my kids, but my heart is breaking. I have been praying, praying, praying for peace and resolution.

I am attaching the most recent picture of my girlies. The oldest is 6 and the youngest 2 1/2. Abigail one 2nd place in the kindergarten science fair, so here she is standing by her project. :)

Neko 02-02-2008 09:56 AM

KikoAwww. They're adorable. What did she do for a science project?

tammieI like the waffle recipe. Just don't make the same mistake I did. Check your waffle maker, if it's not the belgian waffle type, only use half the batter at once. I have a tigger/pooh waffle maker that makes two waffles. I used all the batter at once. It spilled out and ran all over my counter, down the cabinets, etc.

I dropped my son off at the basketball clinic, so I have a free half hour or so to sip my coffee. Then off to a birthday party at the local ice rink. Poor kid has never ice skated in his life. I hope he likes it. Why is it there's no b-day parties for months then BOOM three in one month.

Ruthxxx 02-02-2008 09:58 AM

Quick hi and :welcome: to the new Beachies!

I'm home but kind of living from Tylenol3 to Tylenol3. The doc did a whole lot more work than expected and I'm pretty darn sore but will pop in when I can.

femmecreole 02-02-2008 10:12 AM

Ruth!!!!!
Wonderful to hear from you! Been thinking about you a lot and wondering how you were doing. Take it easy and get all healed up so you can enjoy spring!!!!

Schmoodle 02-02-2008 10:14 AM

Good morning chickies!
Hi Ruth! Feel better soon!!
I forgot it was Groundhog Day too cottage.
have fun at the zoo Tammie.
Cat, enjoy your quiet morning. Wish I had gotten up early like you. Now the weekend will just go too fast.
Kiko, good to see you here. I'm sorry about your troubles. You and your cuties take care.
Neko, I would love a Pooh and Tigger waffle! How cute.
LC and Gonna, hope you have a good day of running.

I don't know what's the matter with me, I didn't wake up until 9:30. The cats kept trying to get me up for breakfast, but I thought it was still early and kept going back to sleep. I'm home alone, so there was no noise to wake me this morning. Poor cats, they finally gave up, I think they thought I was dead. They looked pretty traumatized when I got up.
Confession time, I cracked at my mom's last night, she had made an amazing dessert, and I had some. I wish I would get sick when I indulge like others say they do, but I don't. It was awesome, I enjoyed the **** out of it, and it didn't bother my stomach at all. Wish I hadn't now, but oh well, no looking back, only looking forward.
Well, I had planned to get out early while I had no kids and get some new tires, which I desperately need, so I guess I'll go try and get that done now. Then I want to come home and try and finish the wallpapering in the bathroom (that was started about a year ago by DD!).

tkglenn 02-02-2008 10:42 AM

good morning. nothing much here. we were supposed to go Logan's steakhouse last night but ended up going to buffalo wild wings instead. I did pretty good too. I only ate the grilled naked chicken tenders with no sauce. I pretty much stayed on plan yesterday but got busy in the middle but didn't have lunch. I tried to fried moz sticks----yummy!!!! i even made the hot chocolate which was pretty good too. And for breakfast, i made the sausage and cheese cups---that was really good. I didn't think i would like any of it but it was good.

I'm gonna stay on plan for day 2 of phase 1. I did good yesterday and I'm trying to talk my DH into trying SBD also. He's not fat, he just can't lose weight in his stomach. He's hispanic and loves his fried foods.

Ruth--good to hear from you.
tammie--the zoo sounds like fun
kikko--cute kids.
everyone else--have a good day.

Kim_Star060404 02-02-2008 10:51 AM

Hey everyone! Hope you're all having a happy Saturday. DH and I slept a little late, so we're running late on our Saturday morning errands. I'll be coming back to see you all after we get home!

tammie00 02-02-2008 11:05 AM

Change in plans. LOL No sugar free syrup so didn't do the waffles. We are going to Zoo tomorrow and cleaning house today. Hubby wanted to just hang out around home today.

Take care I am back to the kitchen...I hate cleaning the kitchen!!!

Tammie

tkglenn 02-02-2008 11:08 AM

i just made the southwest breakfast scramble.....yummmmo. i didn't put as much taco seasoning that it calls for, which i should have. the flavor isn't as strong but it's good. next time i will use the recommended amount.

waquilter 02-02-2008 11:48 AM

Morning All!

By the time I get up and get here you're all off and running and the coffee's cold. Maybe some morning I'll surprise myself and get up extra early just to say hello. Hope you all have a great day!

TechieGrrl09 02-02-2008 11:51 AM

Happy Ground Hog's Day! It looks like ole Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. So, six more weeks of winter for us here in the US.

Ruth - I wish you a speedy recovery!

I am studying today, and off to campus at 1:00 for a review for my first exam. :( I am lucky though... since I am studying my husband is cleaning the house. :D

Just wanted to drop in and see how everyone was doing today.

Barb0522 02-02-2008 12:23 PM

Ruth - It's so good to hear from you! I sure hope the painkillers help.

Kiko - Your girls are adorable. You have my prayers about your marriage. Do you have friends you can talk to who can understand what you are going through? If you want to talk, PM me and I'll send you my cell phone number. Maybe we can finally get together one of these times when Brian is with his Dad. It might be easier to talk that way (especially if we choose a place where your girls can play). It's a shame that we live so close and have known each other in the cyber world for so many years and yet have never manage to meet.

Me - I leave in an hour to teach Wolf/Bear Leader Specific training. Then I'll stop by the house and drop stuff off and then off to Sam's to buy food to bring to the potluck tonight. I just don't feel like cooking. Then I'll meet up with Brian at the birthday party at Adventure Landing and we're off to the Wood Badge reunion. I haven't slept well for the last two nights so I don't want to stay too late.

Brian and I went out to dinner last night and I got a chance to talk to him about how everything went (just the results, not the gory details) and about how things are going in school. More details than I get when we are at home. Then we went home and talked about negative numbers and all sorts of math functions. My major was math programming and sometimes I can explain things in ways that are easier for him to understand. It was a good evening and I'm expecting the rest of today to be a good day.

cottagebythesea 02-02-2008 01:49 PM

Kiko, my heart breaks for you. I'm keeping you in my prayers that everything will work out according to God's plan. In the meantime, why don't you take Barb's advice and talk things out with her. She sounds like a wonderful person who knows exactly what you're going through. I think it would do you a world of good to talk to her. Good luck, sweetie.

Schmoodle, :lol3: You made me laugh til I was crying, reading your post! First the cats, then your confrontation with the dessert! Enjoy your afternoon with the wallpapering. I've been wanting to tear down the wallpaper in our bedroom, but Jake wants to put it off until it gets warmer and he can paint the walls. A little of it is revenge to me, since he didn't want me to put up the wallpaper in there in the first place. ;) I loved it at first, but now I hate it.

Hi to everyone, looks like everyone has a plan for the day.

 Ruthie!

We decided to go out to the Amish farm market for breakfast and a little shopping. I'm glad we went, blueberries were 50cts. a pint, so I got a case of them! And red bell peppers were 89cts. a lb, shredded red cabbage and bags of European lettuces were $1 a bag. I stocked up with as much as I knew I could use before they went bad on me.
Dustin and Tyler are coming over later this afternoon, while my DIL takes Amber to a Hannah Montana 3 - D feature. It's not too bad outside, so Jake is going to grill a London Broil for him & Dustin, and do up a salmon fillet for me. I'm hoping Monica & Eric will come out tomorrow, I want Eric to set up a network for both my laptop & desktop computers and the printer, so I don't have to keep running back and forth when I want to print out something. I promised to make him whatever he wants for dinner as a bribe! ;)

Schmoodle 02-02-2008 04:23 PM

Hi chicks, taking a break from the wallpapering. It's easy to do, that tear and stick stuff, but it takes a long time and I just want it done already. cottage, I'm not much for wallpaper, but my friend put this stuff up in her bathroom and I had to try it too. It does look cool. But usually I am a paint person. Wallpaper's great until you decide you want it down. When we moved into this house, someone had gone crazy with the wallpaper borders. I had to scrape them down in 8 rooms, and I swore I'd never put any paper up myself!
It looks like both kids will be away and I'll be alone again tonight, although DD and her friend may decide to come over here. But it looks like I'll have to feed them both before they go. Better start thinking about that.
Hope you chicks are enjoying your day. I think I'll make a latte and get back to it for a while.

CarCar 02-02-2008 07:51 PM

Hey ladies!

Glad to hear everyone is having a good start to the weekend.

I have been keeping a potential cold at bay for a couple days now (everyone around me is suffering with horrible colds/flu), so I somehow managed to sleep a ridiculous number of hours last night (I actually fell asleep with my computer last night...woke up at 4 am very confused). Anyway, I'm having a really lazy day right now. After learning yesterday that rice noodles are P2 friendly I will be venturing out to my favorite pho place later tonight. For now, I'm making a grocery list and getting ready to do laundry. I didn't have the greatest week of eating (though most all was SBD friendly) because I had some major psychosomatic stomach issues, which caused me to drink much less water and I was less stringent about food in general. In fact, I pretty much stayed away from eating some meals (bad, I know). Interestingly, I feel I actually may have gained a pound or two (I decided not to weigh this week, with all the tummy distension and whatnot).

Ridiculously late nights at work all week and the tummy problems kept me away from the forum, but I am glad to be back!

Have a fantastic evening/Sunday!

cottagebythesea 02-03-2008 07:50 AM

Happy Superbowl Sunday!

Actually, we're not really into the Superbowl, but Jake will probably have it on just so he can discuss it with the guys at work tomorrow. ;)

Just the normal Sunday stuff going on here today, laundry & cooking. Maybe a trip to Walmart to pick up some toiletries. I'm hoping Monica & Eric will come out this afternoon, I'm missing my little Carley, and Caitlyn, too!

Schmoodle 02-03-2008 08:59 AM

Morning chicks!
I am glad I'm not the only one, cottage. I don't follow sports and could care less about the Superbowl. I guess I'll be watching Jane Austen on Masterpiece Theatre while everyone else is watching the game. I didn't get the wallpapering done yesterday (slow going), so I guess that'll be on the agenda for today. If I get it done, I've got to finish scraping the old paint from the windowsill in the bathroom. Aside from that, I plan to do a little cleaning and laundry, and some cooking for the week. If I can think of a fun outing, I may get out and do something with the kids in the afternoon. Too much excitement, don't ya think?

I am sure we've got 6 more weeks of winter here. It's been cold, but not much snow, and we almost always get at least two good storms in a winter. Usually in late Jan/Feb too.

Kim_Star060404 02-03-2008 10:09 AM

Hey everyone! Meant to come check in again yesterday, but the day just got away from me. We were straightening up the house when some of DH's college buddies popped in for a visit. They're doing research in Mexico and don't have cell phones, so they figured they'd just see if we were home. We ended up bbq-ing with them and then going out to the bar for a few drinks afterward. Needless to say, I didn't get any homework done yesterday. :o

Today is another WATP dvd after church followed by some quick house-straightening and then homework until everyone gets here for the game. Luckily DH and I decided to just have pizza and salad, so there's no prep-work for me. To be honest, if I'm going to get everything turned in on time, I need to work straight throught the Super Bowl, but we'll see. ;)

Well, I need to go shower for church - have a great Sunday!!

GONNABE165 02-03-2008 06:16 PM

Good super bowl evening to you all.

Ruth I am so glad you checked in do take care of yourself and I am still praying for a speedy recovery

Kim_Star060404 02-03-2008 06:41 PM

, everyone! Just here getting this homework done!! 1 paper down, 1 more paper plus power-point presentation and one revision to go! Hope to be able to catch the end of the game!!

Barb0522 02-03-2008 08:14 PM

This has been a nice weekend. Brian had a good time at the Rangers clinic and the birthday party. I felt bad taking him away from the party to go to the Wood Badge reunion but he did get to stay for 2 hours and he was given the two passes for putt putt/laser tag that he didn't get to use so he went back today with his dad and got to use them.

The reunion was wonderful last night. I have been worried about who will watch Brian in order for me to staff the course in October that I agreed to staff and two of the guys in my patrol offered to let him stay with their families and would make sure that he got to school. That is a huge committment as it could be as much as 3 nights one week and 3 nights another week. Hopefully his Dad can take him some or all of the nights but this way I can feel like I have a backup plan.

Robert is already complaining that it will be hard for him to drive so far with an old car to pick up Brian and bring him back especially since on Wednesdays he will be in gymnastics for half of the time. He is thinking of asking if he can have him longer on Sundays and give up Wednesdays. Brian is okay with him picking him up at church at 11:30 (instead of noon) but he still wants to be home by 6 so he can eat with me so I'm not sure how much extra time he will get. I guess we will just have to see. He was already asking me today to go back to the agreement we had talked about at one time which is much more favorable to him than what the judge decided. I'm not willing to do that. He wouldn't collaborate/mediate with me before and now he only wants to do it because he didn't get what he wanted. It does sound like he might be flexible about Brian's campout though which would be for the best for Brian. I guess we will just have to see what happens.

He wanted me to agree to have a storage POD brought over so all his stuff could go in it but I told him they are over $200. I think he was thinking that I would pay for that. I'm willing to keep his stuff here for awhile until he can find an apartment. I did bring over some more of his stuff he wanted along with the rest of his clothes. I think it was good that Brian saw his Dad but I'm not sure that he was as excited about it as I thought he would be.
