Just a quick drop in now that our internet is finally back (can't remember how I survived before we had high speed wireless!).

Barb - it's good to see you here and hear things are progressing in the right direction.

Kim - I'm so sorry for your loss.

Default Starving Day #1

Kim, sorry for your loss.

University started for the Spring semester this morning and it was rough. I also started day 1 of South Beach today. I am happy because we will be out of class on Monday to celebrate the holiday and I am looking forward to the three day weekend.

This morning for my first South Beach Diet breakfast I fried two large eggs in one teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil, two slices of Canadian bacon, and 1/2 cup of cherry tomatoes. I also had a half a cup of coffee.

For my first snack I ate a stick of string cheese.

For lunch I ate a serving of the black bean and beef chili recipe from the South Beach Diet Cookbook topped with 1 oz of reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese and 2 cups of romaine lettuce with 10 sprays of Wishbone French Flair Salad Spritzers.

For my second snack it was one stick of celery with Laughing Cow Lite cheese, 1/2 ounce of cashews, and two slices of sandwich ham.

For dinner I had 1 cup of baked spaghetti squash topped with 1 cup of meat sauce (no sugar added tomato and basil pasta sauce with lean ground beef, onion, garlic, and red bell pepper sauted into it) with a pinch of grated parm. cheese. We also steamed some broccoli and topped it with reduced fat cheddar and mozzarella and broiled it. For dessert snack I had one sugar free Popsicle.

I must admit that I am starving. If anyone has any suggestions regarding something that I could eat, after all I have eaten today, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, I have drank water throughout the day.

Techgirl. Whenever I'm hungry and I've eaten throughout the day I eat more veggies and drink more water. In the book it says to have as much of the approved Ph1 foods as you want so as not to be hungry. I also find if I don't get enough protein I am hungrer than days when I have extra. Hope this helps.

Kim My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so sorry for your loss

to everyone else. It's been a rotten day and I'm all out of energy. Have a good night everybody.
