1 Lb. Loss Discouraging ???

  • We all have weeks where we lose 1 pound and were wishing for more. Sometimes it can be discouraging. I found this calendar of loss when I was cleaning out drawers and thought it might be motivational.

If I lost 1 pound each week of 2008:

By Valentine's Day... I'd be 7 pounds lighter
By St. Patrick's Day... I'd be 11 pounds lighter
By Easter... I'd be 16 pounds lighter
By Memorial Day... I'd be 23 pounds lighter
By Flag Day... I'd be 25 pounds lighter
By U.S. Independence Day... I'd be 27 pounds lighter
By Labor Day... I'd be 36 pounds lighter
By Columbus Day... I'd be 41 pounds lighter
By Halloween... I'd be 44 pounds lghter
By Thanksgiving... I'd be 47 pounds lighter
By Christmas Eve... I'd be 51 pounds lighter
And By this time next year..... I'd be 52 pounds lighter

Makes the 1 pound loss seem more exciting doesn't it? Sorry to all my friends in Canada the paper I found only had U.S. holidays
  • Thanks! One pound lost seems very exciting now and a 30 pound weight loss seems more than manageable!!! I'll make sure to remember this if ever get disappointed with only losing a pound.
  • Thanks, Dawn! You're the best!

    Kara
  • That is awesome. I should type that up and post it somewhere.
  • That's a very motivating way of looking at it, Dawn! It really puts it all in perspective.
  • Even for us Canadian Chicks we will be 52 pounds lighter by Christmas of this year.
  • Thanks Dawn! Your calendar Makes it seem more doable
  • In the book he says to expect a 1-2 lb lose each week
In the book, Dr. A. says to expect a 1-2 lbs weight lose during Phase 2. So, why be discouraged? It is considered to be healthier to lose weight slower.

We all need a large dose of patience!! Now, hurry up and get some.
  • Per my fitday records I can plan on losing a 1/2 pound a week. It's slow, but at least I'm going in the right direction most of the time.
  • Thankyou..Now if I can only keeping losing the 1 lb. per week...Wow! I would be just right by Christmas..Seems a long ways off but the older you get it seems time flies by faster....
