The 161,000 calories I didn't eat

  • I was just thinking chicks, that I've lost 46 lbs. And in calories, that is a 161,000 deficit, or the equivalent of 80.5-2,000 calorie days. That is exactly how much stuff I have avoided putting in my mouth over the last 7 months, almost 3 months worth of food for a normal person. Because otherwise I would be the same weight I was last May, or I would have eaten more calories than that and be bigger! I'm not giving much credit to exercise because, honestly, I haven't done that much. I am a numbers person, and when I look at it like this, it's pretty amazing. I'm proud of myself! Wish it was as easy with dollars!
  • I love the way you think! What a great idea
When you think that it takes a restriction of 3500 calories to lose 1 lb., it can be depressing. But, it just goes to show that all those little calorie restrictions and workouts really do add up over time

OK - I did the math (thank you Fitday for having such wonderful stats)

    In six months
I have burned 32,995 calories by exercising. (9.5 lbs)
I have not eaten 145,505 calories. (41.5 lbs)
  • Wow! Congrats, you two!!!

    Kara
  • countingdown, that is fabulous! My New Year's Resolution for 2008 is to be able to count more exercise calories.
    Thanks Kara!
  • What a cool way to look at it!! Wow!! And if you are like me, you aren't very hungry on South Beach... kinda makes you wonder... how come when we DON'T diet, we feel hungry all the time, and we're eating that many more calories? Weird...

Well, CONGRATS! I'd say anyway you look at it, count it, present it, you're doing GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
