HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Ahhhh, Schatzie, it's so nice to see your perky greeting this morning! And you're so sweet to get the cawfee brewing for us! There's a lot to do today, but first I have to fuel up with at least a pot of the delicious nectar!

I hope everyone takes the time to truly count their blessings and be thankful today. Among all my blessings, I am thankful for all of you dear, sweet Chicks.

Enjoy your family time together and enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Schatzi, and all who follow! Great news on the new house! We moved into this house on Thanksgiving 4 years ago...it stormed!! We ended up eating fried chicken on the floor!

I spent yesterday creating food porn to the max. Sweet Potato crunch, stuffed mirletons, cornbread dressing, creme brulee etc...(no mashed pototoes in this part of the world!) All I have left to do is the turkey and then torch the creme brulee...gawd I love playing with that torch. The turkey recipe is great...cooked in an oven bag with button mushrooms and wine. No beach in site for me today, but I usually don't eat much on these "feast days" anyway after spending so much time cooking it. My son's girlfriend has her little 5 and 6 year old brother and sister here for a visit (their family will do the feasting on Saturday), so they are also coming and I'm really looking forward to that. I made a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies for them last night in case they aren't into the dessert we are having. My daughter and oldest son will not be here today...oldest son will come later for dessert and daughter is in California. Breaks my heart...most of our family is gone since the storm, but it should be a great day with little ones around.

I'm headed off to start on my floors. ugh. I hate vacuuming and mopping all these floors...yesterday I ordered my Christmas present to myself...a roomba and a scooba!! Anyone else have them? I spent a lot of time reading review/opions before I ordered them. If they are horrible, don't let me know...I want to dream of never having to vacuum and mop again at least for a few days! Imagine a robot doing that for you...tres George Jetson!

Gobble, Gobble everyone!!
(Cottage, looks like we were posting at the same time....I'm also VERY thankful for all you great chicks...or should that be turkeys today?)

Well must dash this morning is clean out the deep freeze while the wee ones have play time. Try to do one project while they have play time. Figure that way I will be ready for xmas in no time.

Morning chicks, and
I too am thankful for my chicks and for the fact that I weigh 44 lbs. less than last Thanksgiving!
I'm doing laundry and going to take a nice long walk before I start cooking. Since my plan of being extra good this week to counteract the holiday hasn't worked out so well, I have switched to extra exercise! I made most of my dishes yesterday, so I only have to do some veggies today - and I think I'll make some deviled eggs too. We'll have 19 at table at my Mom's house.

Shatzi,
congrats on the new house!
littlechick, hope you can take it easy today, and feel better soon!
cottage and cat, enjoy the feast!
I guess Kara is cleaning up from her dinner by now! Bet she's beat!

To all those who celebrate. Yesterday was so much fun. I'm pretty sure I got a great workout because my legs still hurt. I hope everyone has a great and thankful day today. Got to go put the turkey in the oven.

Laurie I work at ONT 30 mile east of LAX but we have two of those restaurants too. Luckily about 4 years ago they changed the menu and we no longer make the tortillas from scratch(Funny, now that I think about it 4 years ago is when I started losing weight too

We're spending the day at friends. I made cranberry sauce with Splenda yesterday to bring and have finished the four bean salad. I'll start making the deviled eggs in a few minutes. It seems so strange that we wont' be doing our big Friday after Thanksgiving event tomorrow but it just didn't seem right this year.

I've got laundry going. Robert is still asleep and Brian is going through his stuff to sort for a garage sale we are going to have. He's rediscovering all this stuff he didn't remember he has. Once his room is cleaned, I want to touch up the paint and then we will get him the gerbil he wants.

We're microwaving our meal! Yum huh? Nick doesn't really cook and I have to eat processed food and can't really do the cooking. So we *gulp* bought Boston Market foods.

Calgon, take me away!

Happy Thursday to our non-American friends and Gobble, Gobble to the rest!

Big wave from the sunny Cnadian West Coat! It's just 2:30 here and I'm at my friend Linda's house. We had a great salad for lunch and a great visit with her daughter, 3 month old grandbaby and 4 year old Sarah. What delightful kidlets! I'm heading back to Richmond(suburb of Vancouver) to have dinner at another friend's place and then an early bed back at teh hotel. I got very little sleep last night and am going to get adjusted to the time difference tonight so I'll be OK when I fly over to Vancouver Island tomorrow to see my darling DD and her family.

I hope everyone had a great Thursday, whether it was T-Day or just a regular day.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We woke up this morning to a beautifully clean house after being up until midnight getting it back to normal. We had over 25 people at dinner last night and it was glorious! Three fried turkeys, one roasted turkey, one ham, and literally two full tables of side dishes, plus we had to clear our computer desk, top of the microwave, stovetop, sink top, and one measly counter for extra things. There were six pumpkin pies (I made four of them), two cheesecakes (one of my doing), the apple and cranberry apple pies that I made and someone else brought a cake. It was a blast and we had so much fun!

I was brave enough to hop on the scale this morning and I didn't gain anything! Wahoo! Now one week to lose those three pounds to make goal for this month. Nothing like a little push for the end of the month to motivate me to ignore the fridge full of evil leftovers!

Have a great evening!!!

Kara

Well T-day is over. Great food and time with family and I am happy to say that I only ate off at dinner. I had SBD for breakfast and a SBD snack tonight. I didn't do too bad. I ate just what I had planned to for the turkey dinner and got right back OP with an evening snack. Quite an accomplishment for me and it feels so good to be back OP and I am so proud of myself. You girls on this group were such an encouragement to me when I started SBD Monday that I feel you are a big part of my success today. So I want to sa a GREAT BIG THANKS to all of you for helping me get through today.

Schatzi - Congratulations on the New House. We moved into our new house a year ago and love it. What an exciting time.

Cats - You will love your roomba. I had one until Wilma hit us when we lived in FL and we lost power for several days and the battery went. DH never replaced it, but we did enjoy it. I never had a scooba. I would love having it though if it mops for you. Sorry your family got scattered after the storm.

LC - Sorry you are still under the weather. Take good care of yourself and I hope feel better really soon.

Jenn - DH and I love Boston Market. We have to drive to NC to get it and do some times when we go there to go to Sam's Club.

Kara - You ended up with a big crowd, but I know you enjoyed it. When my previous hubby was living it was nothing for us to have 25 or 30 people at our house for holiday dinners. It was a lot of work and I too did most of the cooking, but I too loved it. I married my new hubby and left TX where all my family lives. DH now is not a big eater and neither is his family and his family isn't as big so I don't cook big dinners for lots of people any more. And we all share in the cooking. We only had 16 people for dinner. A lot smaller but just as much fun.

Ruth - It is good you could drop in and say hello. Glad you made it to the west coast safe.

Hope everyone else had as good a day too. Talk to you tomorrow some time.

Patty, how very empowering of you to stay on plan all day, even through your special dinner plan! I bet the feeling you got from accomplishing that goal was so much better than how bloated and out of control you would have felt had you eaten all of the food! Congratulations!
