I am new to south beach and need help please...

  • I am starting the south beach diet but as I read the book I find that alot of the inger. in the reciepes I can not get in my small town. Can I sub some things for the things that I can not get. Like the salmon and the Mahi Mahi. Can I just use any fish?
  • Hey angieevans! Welcome to the beach! I live in a very small town in Texas as well. I also have a hard time getting ingredients, especially fish, produce, and sugar-free anything. I substitute any kind of fish in recipes as long as the fish will hold up the same while cooking. If it's a firm fish, sub it with something firm, etc. I also do my best to save some of my grocery budget to be able to buy fish from the Schwan's guy. It has been a GREAT SB resource.

  • angieevans! The ingredients are examples and suggestions of the foods to be eating, and you can use the type of fish or meat that works best for you, as long as it's on the Plan. Check out the revised Phase 1 and Phase 2 revised foods lists in the FAQ section of the boards for the latest updates. Our recipe section has some wonderful menu ideas, too. This diet is very adaptable, and it can work for you. Good luck!
