Time For A New Me!!!!!!!!

Hi Girls,
My name is Beth. I am a single mom of a 21 year old son and a 18 year old daughter. I have been divorced for 2 years from my husband of 22 years. (He left and married a 27 year old woman) I am 5'4" and weigh 202 lbs. I have had high blood pressure for years. I measured myself this morning, to my surprise hips 49 waist 41 bust 49, WOW.

I have tried almost every weight loss plan out there. I am addicted to pasta and sweets. I have heard that the SB diet will really help me with this. I know it will be tough the first two weeks! I hope I will still have friend left.

I have been reading this forum and it seems like there is alot of support here. My goal is to get down to 150 lbs. I wear a tight size 18 now. I won't buy many clothes right now, because I hate how I look in everything. I have alot of goals, I am starting a weight loss journal, stating how I feel, my goals for the month, etc. I will be joining alot of things on this forum to keep up with my goals.

I do enjoy quilting, stitching and stamping. I hope with doing these things it will keep my hands busy. I can't wait to see the new me. Hopefully by December when I turn 51 I will be able to notice the difference! My first day was yesterday, August 1st.:carrot:

Hi and Welcome! I'm new here too and just started Phase 1 on Sunday. So far so good! Congratulations on making the choice to improve your health! :congrat:

oh and don't worry if you feel bad for the first few days. I had no idea about the "SB Flu" but the chicks here have been great. You'll love it here!

Hi Beth and :wel3fc:
I've been on SBD for two months and I love it! I've lost 20 lbs and I can really see a difference in my clothes. You will surely be able to see a big difference by December.
If you start feeling yucky in the next couple of days, that's normal. Just make sure you are getting your dairy servings and eat some beans to help with that and with any digestive issues. Things will settle down quickly and the two weeks will fly by. There are lots of good resources on this forum, so take a look at the recipes, food lists, and if you have any questions, just ask!

Hey Beth...I have a dog named Stitch!
I also love to quilt, but haven't had the time in years...maybe when the grandbabies start coming I'll get back into it. I did a queen sized candlewick quilt all by hand once...took me 18 months to do. I told my kids that if they or any of my decendants have a picnic on it after I'm dead, I'd come back and get them!! At one time I had a monogramming/embroidery shop and after being on my feet for about 16 hours a day running back and forth between all of the machines, I haven't touched a needle since I sold the business.

You are going to do great and have so much fun shopping for those new clothes before you know it!

:welcome: Beth! There is a ton of support on this forum! And it definitely can be done. I'm Weight Watchers/Phase 2 now but I started on the SBD at 160 lbs and a size 16 pants. The weight is coming off and I'm a size 6 now, and only 14 lbs from my goal. You can so do this!

Any questions you have, feel free to ask! And hit up the recipe threads for yummy food to mix it up so you don't get bored eating the same stuff all the time.

Good luck to you!

Welcome, Beth! I'm a quilter, too, although I haven't had much time to do anything lately. I have one quilt half finished back in New Jersey. Hoping to be able to finish it up while we're home for most of August!

This *is* a great group, and South Beach will help you trememdously with your sugary cravings! Good luck!

Like you (and I'll bet many others here), I tried just about every known diet plan with varying degrees of sucess. I just wish I'd found SB sooner...

I'm also a stamper (cards), although I haven't found the time recently.

Your right, you will find a lot of suport on this forum. There's a great group here. :grouphug:

Hi Beth

Welcome to a great place. The SB diet is the way to go. When I first started at 190+ I was hypertensive and my cholesterol and triglycerides were out of control. After just losing 18 pounds they were soooo much better. I've slipped and gained but I'm back. Just hang in there for the two weeks and like cottage says "dig in your toes". There are tough times but you can do it!

:welcome3: BKStitch!!! Glad to have you with us! :D

I love quilting too...and stamping when it's in a scrapbook. :)

You might not like your measurements right now, but I was in awe of your perfect hourglass shape! Wow!!! :hot: You're going to look even better and happier when you get to a healthier weight and don't have to worry about your BP. Yay!!! :cheer2:

Your husband is missing out on so much by what he did...I'm so glad you're moving on and leaving him behind. I'm sure our cabana boys will be glad to take your mind off him for a while. ;)

Hey Beth!

Welcome to the group! These are some of the most supportive and fun dietmates one could have, and you are definitely in the right place.

Phase 1 brought some white-knuckle moments for me, and then I totally screwed up Phase 2 by adding in too many carbs too quickly, but I think I've finally gotten it just right. It's all dependent upon which carbs affect you and which don't. Some ladies here eat fruit every day. If I ate fruit right now, I'd be mainlining chocolate sauce by midnight. We're all different in little ways but in one way we're the same...a bunch of recovering carboholics!

I'm about your same height and have been over 200 lbs. in the past too. I'm starting this time from 180 and have a goal of getting to 150 by my birthday in December of this year when I turn 52. So maybe we can both give ourselves an awesome birthday present!
