Hi Pacergal, it's because they're men! It's in the handbook...They know why we keep them around.

Morning Chickies! Happy Late 4th!
Yesterday was AWFUL! I spent 7 hours peeling a wallpaper border from our kitchen. I have a new dislike for the previous owners of our house. They did a really terrible job on the wallpaper and I found a lot of mistakes from when they re-sheetrocked certain parts of the walls. It looks like they didn't even tape the seams in some spots. So, DH will be redoing the sheetrock and then priming the kitchen today and tomorrow. We'll paint coat 1 on Saturday and coat 2 on Sunday. After that, it will just need curtains, which I'll make, a dining set, and a new light fixture. Then, we'll be moving on to the living room. So, in weight loss news, none yet, but my official W-I is Sunday. We started our weight loss competition in the office today and I weigh the most out of those competing. Not too bad since I did start out at 225 for the year. I will say, though that there are a few people in the office who obviously weigh more than me, but didn't want to compete for some reason. Oh well, I'm looking for a win at the end of the month!! ~Kim |
Kim,
Wow, do I feel your pain! We have an old 1915 house - 9 rooms and 2 bathrooms, and when we moved in, every single room had a wallpaper border! I hate those things. I spent lots of time scraping them down. It's great that you can actually complete a room and then move on to the next. We have pretty much all rooms in various stages of completion, and half scraped woodwork all over the house. We did the kitchen over last winter, but still have to install flooring, change light fixtures, and I have been looking for the right curtains for months. I'd love to have just one room that I could say "it's finished", but I don't know if that'll ever happen! |
Thanks, schmoodle. We're just going to take our time and go room by room. Although the three bedrooms may end up getting carpeted at the same time to save money. Our house was pretty much move-in ready, there were just some cosmetic issues. Your house sounds lovely. We have a lot of old homes in our town, but most are close to downtown, so DH didn't want to buy there. We're having a lot of rebirth and remodeling, and I'm a little envious of those professional renovators! I could pick out paint colors and carpet all day!

Morning!
I had a hard time getting myself moving this morning. I would have lounged in bed a bit longer, but our neighbor is here at 8:00 for the day. I was hoping to take them to the library as well as swimming this morning, but I don't think that the weather is going to cooperate. Megan's 2 year check up is this afternoon, so I will drag all three kids to the doctor's. Hope everyone has a great day. I need SUNSHINE!! :sunny: |
Ruth, love the idea of a "sunny day in spite of the weather!" :sunny:
It's great to see so many chickies checking in so early! I think I might have a lead on a job (been looking for something part-time)...that might get me up and moving early enough to check in here before half the crowd shows up! ;) It's for a local community college, working as a writing tutor. That would be fun! :) :crossed: Have a great 'sunny' day, friends! :grouphug: |
Hello -
I am getting a late start today, which is ok as I do have the day off - 4th of July 'week', plus it is my 5th anniversary. Scott is working today, but that is no reason why I can not enjoy the day! We will stay in for dinner - it nice to spend the evening cooking a nice meal together and enjoying a nice bottle of wine. I do need to run out and buy him a present , nothing quite like procrastination! I am going to try to stay out of the other stores...we'll see... It is a beautiful day - sunny and warmer. :sunny: This weather has been odd for July, but I have enjoyed the lower humidity and heat. With a wedding and the Greek festival (I have some concerns about the food choices - baklava anyone? - but it is wonderful and Scott wants to go three times, I have him talked down to 2) scheduled this weekend it would be nice if it stayed cool. Fo those of us might need it (and I am on that list): :dust: Ally |
Good morning Everyone!
Did everyone have a good 4th? I can't wait til the day when I can get in a bathing suit again and not feel like a beached whale! ~Lisa |
Morning chicks!
Its a HOT day already here in southern cali, yesterday was over 100 I think! Hope everyone had a good 4th, I know I did, minus a small slip up. Today is a busy day for me and my fiance, we are doing wedding stuff! Meeting with 2 potential photographers and a DJ, so excited! Hope everyone has a great day! :) |
HI everybody! I'm back to my computer. It was a nice few days caring for a elderly dear friend in another village. I planned and packed my meals so I would stay on track, and I did! When I got home I did an unofficial weigh in(Sunday is my regular day) and lost 3.5 lbs since last Sunday! I'm not updating my ticker till my official weigh day. I wonder if I not getting enough calories...I have 3 days left of phase 1, I guess I'll monitor my weight loss and see if I don't slow down a bit doing phase 2.
It's been windy the last few days, no rains, but there is a cyclone off the coast of India which should be dumping lots of rains on us soon :( . Mold is already doing it's toll this monsoon., so I'm not thrilled with the prospect of more rains... though plants and trees are very happy. I'm off to bed soon, Goodnight all! BTW...Laurie, I just noticed your ticker,:carrot::carrot::carrot: CONGRATS on 100lbs gone! :hug:WTG!!!:D kitty |
It was strange this morning after the holiday. It felt like a Monday. But it's only two more days until the weekend so that is nice. :carrot:
Kiko - I'm sick of this rain! It's cool enough for outdoor activities but it's just too wet. I will post some of the new recipes I have tried as soon as I can. I wonder if anyone would notice if I brought a cookbook to work and posted in my spare time? Probably not since my manager and team are all in other states. |
Hello all,
Well my 4th did not include bbq which was probably a good thing. My coworker and I were supposed to go to a picnic but it did not happen. oh well I still had fun with friends watching the fireworks. I feel like I don't wanna think about what I am going to eat anymore. Its a control issue I am sure. But I don't wanna fall off the beach I love the way I feel and especially the weight I am loosing. I am scared because I am going to New Orleans for the first time since 1997 in two weeks and I have not had a Beignet since my last visit!!!(FemmeCreole I know you understand) I am not in control of the food because I am working with Habitat for Humanity building homes so I am not sure what they are serving. I guess I will bring some snacks but if anyone has some advice they can give please shoot it my way! |
