Help!!!! I need food on the go!

Okay so I need some advice. I need some help with recipes that require no refridgeration or cooking/heating/microwaving. I work in the social work arena and every other Saturday I work at the local boys and girls club (with about 100 kids:dizzy: ) We provide lunch for them but its usually pizza or Subway or something I can't eat. This is the first Saturday I am working there on the Beach. There's no place to store my food or heat it up and of course can't eat pizza and I can't leave.... what to do? Maybe soup? Please help:?: Thanks:D

Well, maybe you could take a small cooler or lunch pack with blue ice in it. Raw fruits and veggies will travel well, as will cheese and nuts. I bought some small cans of V-8 to take along on the days I have to travel to work. You could pack a salad with leftover meat on it. Hope that helps!

a cooler with blue ice. i have one every day at work with breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks

pack it with
nuts
string cheese
veggies
salad w/protein (tuna, salmon, chicken, beef, and/or cheese)
pack your dressing seperately
don't forget utensils

I think the cooler idea is the best. I fill my cooler with ice the nite before in the morning it will be cold and will keep your foods cold a long time with blue ice.

I do basically the same thing every night with dinner. I do have access to a refrigerator but it's always so full I prefer to take a insulated lunch box with an ice pack. And while I can microwave things I prefer to take stuff that I don't have to. One night this week I took a salad with Italian dressing, vanilla yogurt and a chicken breast and one night I took tuna salad and celery with ff cream cheese.

Thanks so much ladies. I just found out that we are having flame grilled chicken from one of my favorite places! The sides usually are rice, bread and salad with sugar filled dressing so I will bring some veggies and snacks along. I'm off to get my cooler and blue ice......:carrot:

Oh, Nessa, whenever I make a salad I refrigerate with the homemade dressing ON! I love the lemon juice and olive oil all worked through my lettuce!!!

I don't have any meat on my salads, though, so I don't know if that would affect the dressing issue.

Glad you got your problem solved, Nik! Have a good day at work!
