Default Replacing oil with applesauce on Phase 1

Wondering if this is OK. I don't keep vegetable oil in the house because I never use it for anything but I wanted to try the bean brownie recipe. Pre-South Beach I would have replaced the oil with applesauce, but since we're not supposed to have fruit on Phase 1 I don't know if this is an acceptable substitution. Could I use olive oil instead?

Thanks!

Just use olive oil. You are right: no fruit on Phase I.

I use olive oil for everything that calls for oil with good results. I usually don't have any other type of oils in the house, either.

I didn't get around to them tonight but I'm going to try for it tomorrow. Whipped up some Black Cherry Jell-O instead. Somehow, a week of Phase 1 has tricked me into thinking that two tablespoons of fat free Cool-Whip is decadent! Guess this plan really works!!!

Yeah, on the Cool Whip container it even says it's approved for Phases 1, 2, and 3!
